When writing a lesson plan, I always have my students who need accommodations and modifications in mind. My education has been centered around students with special education needs and the students I have had the opportunity to work with require modifications. To ensure I am the best teacher I can be, I need to ensure I have incorporate all my students’ abilities into the lesson plan so they can reach their maximum potential.
In this lesson plan, it was written to incorporate two ELL students in the classroom. I wanted the lesson plan to be explicit enough that a substitute could use it for the lesson. I wrote my SIOP components in purple and based them around what I was already doing in the lesson, but with more detail. In the classroom, the two ELL students are advanced and require moderate additional assistance. In this lesson plan, I wanted it to be varied enough that students at the beginning level can be included in the lesson.
For the objectives, the content objective did incorporate the English language writing and reading skills. The language objective went into more detail about the expectations of the oral language skills being used. …show more content…

The comprehensible input will allow the teacher to explicitly explain the parts of the water cycle in the example displayed for the students. The water cycle bag provides an authentic example of what happens in the water cycle. The teacher will also be able to use cognates such as sun and sol, to explain the parts of the water cycle. In the lesson delivery, the teacher will speak clearly and observe the students to watch for any confusion or uncertainty. Based on her observations, she can change her approach and backtrack to make sure the students are on the same page as the teacher.
