Let me start by telling a short story about someone I know. She spent weeks applying to jobs, and one afternoon, she got a call from her number one choice asking for an interview. While at the interview, she was asked several questions about her prior education and qualifications. The boss was very impressed with what he had heard, and he told her that her interview was the best one he has had in years. At the conclusion of the interview, the boss stood to shake her hand; however, when she stood to return the shake, her crop top that she wore under her blazer was revealed. She never got a call back saying she got the job.
The way one dresses for an interview, whether the interview be for a job, internship, or scholarship, can determine whether or not he gets the position or whatever for which he has applied. Some people think that, in order to look professional, a lot of money has to be spent on clothes and shoes. However, a report from the Institute for College Access and Success shows that students who earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 accumulated an average debt of $29,000, which is an estimated increase of six percent per year from 2008 to 2012 (Study 2014).
