Let The Kids Have Their Internet

After reading the online article “10 Great Things Teens Learn While “Playing” Online” by Christy Matte and the magazine article “ Teens and the Internet: How Much is Too Much? “ by Stephanie Newman , it is clear that teens should be limited to the amount of time used online daily. The use of the internet may be beneficial; it all depends on how the student uses it. Teens should not be able to use a significant about of time online because it affects their social isolation, physical and also mental health.

The article, “What Adolescents Miss When We Let Them Grow up in Cyberspace,” written by Brent Staples discusses negative influences that internet has toward teens. The author elaborates that teens are far more comfortable with online conversations. Social Media has high expectations to how a teen should act or look. Media emotionally scars teens, demanding them to have clear skin and skinny body. The more people that are connected to their phones, higher the chance of losing relationships. The internet has left many teens with unreal social skills. Real life experiences such as law, teens are not knowledgeable. Teenagers miss out on life experiences that can help them grow into adulthood.

One of the most arguable topics today is teenage internet usage. Many people think that teens today spend too much time on the internet and should be out in the experiencing life in the real world. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Christy Matte, writer of “10 Great Things Teens Learn While “Playing” Online” says the time that teens spend on the internet is useful and will subsequently enhance their computer skills. She explains the skills you learn on the internet and those skills are necessary in teens futures. The amount of time that teenagers spend online is justified since it will refine their computer skills that colleges and employers will be looking for in applicants.

Minors use social media to keep up with updates about books, movies, TV shows, and celebrities. A high percentage of bloggers are girls and boys, myself included, use social media solely to keep up with celebrities, books, TV shows, and movies. Most teenagers today are interested in being updated on books they read, shows they watch, and celebrities

This could negatively affect the children, because this would make it harder for parents to teach their kids manners and/or talk to them about the process of growing up. He points out that people who often use electronic devices have a hard time socializing in person: "teenagers nowadays are both more connected to the world at large than ever, and more cut off from the social encounters that have historically prepared young people for-the move-into adulthood." Having internet connection allows children to gain information they do not need to know (such as sex, drugs, prison, family problems, and etc.) So when their parents try to educate their children about the process of growing up, the child feels like they know everything their parent is going to say because they have already gained some information about the subject on social

Aided by the convenience of smartphones, tablets, and computers, the Pew Research Center has found that 92% of teens are online daily, with open access to harmful material that can affect developing minds permanently, and set up habits that can damage their potential for success in the future. An even more shocking 24% of teens say that they are online “almost constantly.” As a tenth grader in Carolina Day’s upper school, I’ve witnessed the daily activities of students who confirm these statistics. To them, navigating the internet is second nature, and that is where the real danger lies. While at school, they are still granted connection to every game, social media site, and free essay resource, without limits. Unrestricted and unlimited access to the internet is negatively impacting Carolina Day School’s environment by affecting interpersonal relationships, stunting the positive development of the brain, and decreasing the chance of students gaining critical life skills.

My first reason to support my claim is being on technology makes teens have less real life experiences.Which can hurt them on how they will adapt.This quote explains that people need to socialize in order to get experience and adapt to Survive,but since teens don't go out to socialize.They won't have any

“Internet, mobility, and multimedia are important technology tools that are used in education industry” (Hameed 372).Although the internet is an important tool in the classroom and out, it does have downsides. Websites have become more commercialized, and this has made searching through websites difficult since not all websites are reliable. The amount of time a teen spends on the computer can affect how well they socialize with people in the real world. Teens have a hard time interacting with one another in person because what someone will say online could be something they would in no way say in person. This can cause an individual to become extremely timid in person because they sit on the computer knowing they have the ability to state whatever they want.

Don’t listen to them! The internet is a great place to learn and to prosper. It can give a teenager a career in the comfort of their own home. Its not all about playing video games and social media, teens are also out there meeting new people in chat sites from all over the country. But its not always the teens fault, we hammer them with homework assignments and tests that forces them to sit in front of the computer screen for hours. You cant blame the bad use of technology on students when we are the ones putting them in the situation.

Teens might reveal online more than they should. Shady people can piece together a teenager 's online comments and photos to find out such information as where he or she lives and goes to school and at what times no one in the family will be at home.

The internet has become a part of every day life, in fact for many it is their life. You can meet other people, play games, do research, communicate with loved ones half way across the country, and now you can even shop and bank online.

Relevance Statement: Most teens nowadays use the Internet; the usage varies according to each person, but I know that everyone in here is familiar with it.

In this article “Teens and Technology 2013” by Pew Internet & American Life Project shows statistics between teens internet access and teen and tablet ownership. Now these days most teens are online. The article says, “Fully 95% of teens are online” (“Teens and Technology). Internet can be accessed through cellphones, tablets, and mobile devices(“Teens and Technology). The younger the age group, the more use of internet occurs. Pew Internet & American Life Project wanted to show facts and graphs on internet use for teens. The information could open people’s eyes and see how much teens are using the devices with internet.
