History suggests that great leaders view the world as a divided empire that if united would end problems that a single nation dream of solving. Many leaders of today fight for division, independence, and personal interests. Such leaders want control over small territories just to exercise power and control over a small population resulting in problems such as famine, poverty, and civil wars. Real leaders seek glory by achieving world domination to help their society move forward towards a better future and inviting other societies to join. Hence, spread civilized laws and ideas, end barbarism, and unite mankind.

Globalization, immigration and out-sourcing are just three of the forces affecting businesses today. Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations elucidates: "Tolerance, inter-cultural dialogue and respect for diversity are more essential than ever in a world where peoples are becoming more and more closely interconnected." Traveling abroad to a foreign country or even to a metropolitan area is no longer necessary to interact with people of different cultures than our own, as our neighbors and co-workers are more and more likely to come from someplace else. Cultural understanding is becoming increasingly important socially and professionally. This is especially true for those working as sales professionals. They need to be able to engage with consumers from increasingly diverse backgrounds.

While it may seem like an indigenous creation, the perception of the Middle East as a source of terrorism and violence in the United States is an archetype imported from historic Europe. The conceptualization of the Middle Eastern ‘terrorist’ is rooted in the time of Sassanid and Byzantine Empire competition. In this era the two empires identified themselves and their people in opposition to one another, beginning a pattern of “othering” and dehumanization that would continue for centuries and remain significant in the formation of Europe and the Middle East region. Later, the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979 and the 1983 Beirut barrack bombing solidified the imported concepts and provided an American context for the Middle Eastern terrorist. These attacks and the subsequent loss of Americans lives finalized the concept of Middle Eastern based terrorism, which was amplified by the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In contemporary post 9/11 history the Middle Eastern ‘other’ has become more polarized, violent, and barbaric in comparison to the United States ‘citizen’. The Middle East has always been in conflict, from biblical times, to the crusades, and on through modern times. Since around 1900, the conflict has primarily been between two groups, Jews and Arabs. During this time, the British occupied the land and under their control the conflict remained minimal. But within months of their departure, and the division of the land between Israel and the surrounding Arab nations, war broke out. The Arabs were unhappy with the UN's divisions of the land, and in an attempt to obtain the land, which they believed was rightfully theirs; they attacked the State of Israel. The social contracts of Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau constructed a basis upon which governments have expressed their validity and purpose. This can be observed most prominently in the Western world, due to the development of these social contracts alongside that of governments of Western nations. But the abstract roots of these theories on the foundation of government are applicable to all peoples. The Middle East is of particular interest due to the recent outcries and protests against governments in the region. Looking at these nations and events through the lens of these social contracts is complicated by the historical lack of consent on part of the people, an elementary component in each of the three philosophers ' idealizations of a social contract. Though the arguments of stability and security that Hobbes conceives as a basis for government are much abused through the history of the Middle East, the ideas of Locke and Rousseau shed more light upon much of the political development of the region.

There are people all around the world whose homes are being destroyed every day. They need our help because they have nothing left. The Middle East has a lot of problems today because of the terrorism in their countries. People that are being displaced need homes in other countries. The situations that these people have to live in are unbearable and are so bad that people cannot live in. It is our responsibility to help others in need because if that were us we would want help in that situation too.

Tradition and heritage culture has been and remains prevalent throughout the Middle East. Two of those traditions or heritage cultures includes kinship and tribal affiliation. The two go hand and hand and is seen throughout a wide spread of the modern Middle East. As Americans, or any allies of the Middle East, it is important to understand the tribal system in order to interact with the Middle East. The purpose tribes serve in the modern Middle East is protection. This protection comes in many forms such as protection from the government, protection from vigilantes, protection from other tribes, protection for survival, and to ensure the tribe can prosper and flourish throughout time. In order for Western societies to have any kind of working or business relationships with the Middle East, we must first understand and accept that tribes play a large role in the Middle Eastern cultural. If the existence of tribes are ignored, it can cause potential haphazard for everyone involved. Tribes are very influential politically, so therefore if they feel threatened or disrespected, chances are compliance of any sort would be nonexistent, thus causes challenges for Western societies and future interactions. In order to understand the purpose of tribes, it is imperative to gain knowledge of what exactly a tribe is, and how it originated.

Cultural differences in business can be a boundary to effective sales and new associations, yet in the meantime they can be the way to open the right entry ways in the event that you know how to function with them.
