4.1 Justify how promoting wellbeing and resilience supports the safeguarding of children and young people Resilience is about how an individual deals, resists, recovers and learns from adversity’s in life. If a child is resilient they are less likely to be damaged as a result of negative experiences and are more likely to learn from and move on. In order for a child to be resilient they need to believe in themselves and have others they can rely on in their lives.
In order to develop resilience children and young people need firm foundations including; Trusting relationships, Structure and rules ,Good role models,

We display this because we want the parents to value their children’s efforts as this will increase the child’s levels of self confidence.
As early years practitioners our resposnibility is to provide unconditional love and express love both physically and verbally by holding, rocking, and stroking and by using soothing words to calm, comfort, and encourage the child to calm himself or herself. We gently enforce rules for children, and use removal of privileges and other forms of discipline that do not belittle, harm, or reject the child. Wemodel behavior that communicates confidence, optimism, and good results for children two and three years old. We praise the childre for accomplishments such as toilet training, calming self, talking, or creating something. We encourage the children to try things and do things on his or her own with minimal adult help. When acknowledge and label the child's feelings and so encourage the child to recognize and express his or her own feelings and to recognize some feelings in others (for example: sad, sorry, happy, angry);this can be through activities and songs such mr happy, how do you feel today etc. We use also use language to reinforce aspects of resilience for example encouragment `I know you can
Young people should have positive relationships with primary care givers, education staff and peers as this leads to higher levels of self-worth, high self-esteem and a positive self- image. This positive outlook on life may lead to that person becoming more approachable and popular individual. Structure, routine and boundaries should be put in place and positive reinforcement is to be used, this allows an understanding of the young person’s position within their society and leads to a more settled and well balanced individual. Positive and dependable role models allow the young person to model the behaviours of well-balanced, well behaved and already resilient individuals. Positive encouragement offered to young people may lead to higher levels of self-esteem and enables the young person to develop an optimistic attitude about learning new skills and having the ability to keep trying when things become challenging. Regular attendance to education should be encouraged, ‘Schooling may be vital in enabling children to make the best of

Outcome 1: Understand how to plan and provide environments and services that support children and young people’s health & safety.
The role and responsibilities of an early year’s practitioner follow a number of codes. When working with children there are many care needs of children, such as special needs, safeguarding children, children’s learning, behaviour, and working with parents. Early years practitioners have set responsibilities when working with children, like meeting the learning needs of a child, providing an environment which is welcoming and also they have to work together as part of a team to provide good service for both children and parents.
It is important to safeguard children and young people because no one deserves to be abused whether it be emotional, physical, sexual abuse and no young person deserves to be neglected and we have a duty to protect them from harm.
Working together to safeguard children 2006 sets out how organisations and individuals should work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the Children’s Act 1989 and the Children’s Act 2004. It is important that all practitioners within settings and environments looking and caring after children and young people must know their responsibilities and duties in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, following their legislations, policies and procedures.
2.2 Describe with examples the importance of recognising and responding to concerns about children and young people’s development
There are many social, economical and cultural factors that impact on the lives of children and young people. In my role as a Young Carer’s Support Worker, I work with a number of families living with the consequences of these factors. Every Child Matters (ECM) aims to improve the outcomes and life chances of every child and young person, therefore, it is important we understand and do all we can to help them achieve the 5 outcomes of the ECM, stay safe, be healthy, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution, and, achieve economic well-being.
Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and
Many of the actions which support resilience are what most practitioners do naturally: showing care and concern, offering routine and consistent discipline, and building children’s trust by keeping promises.
Identify the positive outcomes for children and young people that practitioners should be striving to achieve
I would define resilience as being the ability to no longer allow the disturbing circumstances in the past to take control of your present and future, preserving your self-worth and morality to become your ideal self. Resiliency is important because it can be a tool for survival in troubling situations, a way to not be stuck in the trauma but press forward with forgiveness and independence to pursue what you see yourself becoming. Two ways I feel resilience can be strengthen within children, adolescents or adults is through positive relationships and morality. Forming a positive relationship with an adult weather it be a neighbor, counselor, teacher, church member, etc. can create a form of attachment a person may not of had within their own
While stress is an inevitable part of life, too much stress can have detrimental effects on an individual, especially if these individuals are young children. Stress that is labeled as toxic can have detrimental effects, as it is typically long-lived and cannot be overcome, even with help from a caring adult. However, not all stress should be considered as bad. Positive stress is the shortest type of stress and usually can be overcome relatively quickly. Tolerable stress is relatively short-lived and can be useful when trying to develop positive coping skills as well as resilience. While resilience is often a result of an individual’s home environment, it can also be encouraged or further developed as a result of the school environment and the teachers within it. Stress can be useful when developing resilience in a child, as it allows the child to create a new understanding that sees failure as a way to grow as an individual by learning from the mistakes.
