The concert could be define as the act of performing in public. In order to our music appreciation class to synchronize the theory to the practice. We, students, have been requited by our instructor to write a concert review as an assignment. It is in that sense that I went to the Levitt pavilion and attend to Walt wilkins & mystiqueros.
Levitt pavilion is a free outdoor concert event, one of the music and performing arts in Texas, located at downtown Arlington, west Abram Street. On June 27, 2015 at 8: 00 PM, the levitt has held a concert event where Wilkins & the mystiqueros band has performed for 1: 30 minutes. The talented artist walt wilkins knew that the music was his stuff at his early age. He started writing and playing music since 1990 alone and later on with his wife Tina. They met the mystequeros group and they thought they could get together to produce something better. The Mystiqueros bands were known as the bands destined to be on honky tonk heaven. They got together in 2007 and their sound have been call “highly reminiscent of country/rock.”

At the event day they came together as a group of 8 performers. As instruments, they have gotten: the drums, the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar. Jimmy Davis was on the guitar and sometime vocalist or both. His wife Tina was just vocalist. Bill Small was on the Bassist and vocalist. They have performed severe songs they 2007 album: “Honky Tonk Road”, “Get me gone”,” Red River blues”, “Just like Hank”, “Trains I missed”. One of the song that I better like was “Trains I missed”, they have used all the three instruments (electric and acoustic guitar, drums), the music itself is kind a sweet style. Also, when you listen carefully you can tell that they introduce the song with the “C G Am F” chords. as regards the lyrics, “Trains I train” is just the things he fails to do or haven’t done it
The music concert this review covers is the Plano Symphony’s rendition of the Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in C minor and Symphony No. 9, The Choral, in D minor. The concert was held at a church in April 16, 2016, and it was a sold out performance. Since it was a night simply dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven, the symphony titled the concert as “Best of Beethoven.”
The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers is a bluegrass band that consist of five people who all play different instruments. Gary Antol is a very passionate guitarist, vocalist, and a mandolin player, he sang most of the songs, when did sing it was full of dignity and confidence. Libby Eddy is a very talented fiddler and vocalist, when she sang she sang with a very classic almost country sound with her thick accent and her powerful voice. Joe Dep is the banjo player and he play the banjo with strong enthusiasm. Ed Croft is a vocalist and a very talented bass player, he played bass in such an uplifting way. They are all from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
On April 11th, 2017 in the Louis Armstrong Theatre, I attended the GVSU “University Band”. This up-beat ensemble lasted about 90 minutes; the talented students of GVSU’s university band joined together to perform multiple different songs ranging from a Waltz to a Dixieland Jamboree. All of the songs that the band played for the audience were all well-known, popular songs that they all enjoyed. Having the opportunity to attend this concert has opened new musical paths for myself and has allowed me to enjoy and kindly critique something that I perhaps would have never had the chance to otherwise.
Tonic performed at the BMO Harris Pavilion stage at Summerfest on the last day of the festival. The band took the stage at 5pm (Central standard time), and opened their gig with "Open Up Your Eyes." The song was featured on Tonic's Lemon Parade project, which was released in 1996. Summerfest's artist lineup was had several 1990s bands, some of them included Smash Mouth and Toad the Wet Sprocket. It seems fans of the other bands also flocked to the Pavilion to see Tonic play, and the venue was almost at full-capacity.
Finding Stella is a rock band that was formed in the early 2000s in the San Francisco area. Lions Wayside Park in Pleasanton has concerts every summer and Finding Stella is a regular featured act there. The park is quite big and even when you arrive the morning of the concert, there’s a sea of blankets holding a spot to see the band. I went with my mother and a few of her friends, in which even arriving at 10 that morning to put a blanket down, we were still pretty far from the stage. Needless to say, the majority of my time was spent on the sidewalk near the stage to get the full effect of the performance. You could tell the difference between the people stationed at the back of the park, from the front. The ones sitting in the back used the
The next song on the playlist was called “Everything Happens To Me”. The texture to this was very soft as well. The instruments were playing off each other but it was still a freestyle type of song. I think jazz is generally played like freestyle. There was no melody to this song. The rhythm was not existent as well. It was more of a free flowing song. This song had a very quiet dynamic. It sounded very romantic like something out of a movie. The tempo of the song was very slow and mild but the trumpet was going very fast. The cello and the drums had a portion of the song where they fed off each other’s energy and the trumpet was doing its own thing.
Sometimes the music in a concert will be only one genre. Sometimes there will be several genres performed. Attach the program to your critique, and then refer to the titles in the program. For example: “Autumn Leaves” was performed by a small instrumental ensemble (guitar, bass, and percussion). It is a standard contemporary tune. The tempo was a moderately slow ballad. It had a very mellow sound… 4. Tell how well you think the performers interpreted the music that was on the concert. Were the singers in tune? Did the piano player play musically and rhythmically? Do you think the performers communicated the music as it was meant to be communicated by the composer? 5. Tell which pieces or part of the concert was most moving or enjoyable for you. If you didn’t enjoy the concert very much, tell why you didn’t enjoy it. What could have been better? Be as specific as you can when expressing your opinion of the performance – don’t just write generalities like “It was nice” or “it made me feel like dancing”. Tell why the music made you feel like dancing. Write about why you particularly enjoyed that part of the concert. 6. Conclude your critique by summing up the performance and telling us if you would go to hear these performers again – or would invite your friends or family to hear this performance/performers.
My first concert experience turned out to be very different from what I expected. Even though I would not choose to listen to classical music normally, the concert has made me enjoy this type of music more and made me think about how much more there is to music than just lyrics and a
The Nashville Symphony held a concert at The Schermerhorn Concert Hall on Friday November 5th, performing Franz Joseph Haydn’s famous work The Creation. This performance featured the Nashville Symphony, and the Nashville Chorus, and was conducted by world-renowned conductor Nicholas McGegan. This performance was very brilliant yet so simple. The symphony was cut down from its normal size to a moderate size, whereas the Chorus seemed to be at full strength and numbers behind the Symphony. There were three soloist singers accompanying this performance. There was one Soprano, one Tenor, and one Bass.
On Sunday, May10 2015, a concert was held in The Broad Stage. The concert was played by Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra, whose conductor is Dr. James Martin. For this concert, I would identify myself as a referential listener at this concert. I say this because I am not an expert in music, therefore it would be hard for me to be a critical listener. I wouldn’t be able to tell what went wrong with a performance even if some incorrect notes were played. I was more of a referential listener because the music was soothing and brought my mind to peaceful thoughts. This essay will tells my experience of the concert in order to persuade my friend to attend a classical music concert with you in the future.
The first half of the concert was only instrumental. There were two violins, two violas, and two cellos. They sat on stage with the violins one my right, then the violas in the middle, and the cellos on the end. The violins played a few songs solo. The second half of the concert was only the choir and a piano. Their performance started with the song Daybreak. The song Daybreak also had a few girls playing percussion, one of them had a tambourine. Using SHMRG, the Harmony of most of the choirs songs were very homophonic. The Melody of most of the songs were mainly slow, though a couple songs were very fast, and upbeat.
The overall concert offered a wide verity of choir song, from classical pieces composed by Mozart to musical show tunes. The combination of which resulted in an overall enjoyable experience. The concert was not the first choir concert I had ever attended so I went in expecting it to be similar to the high school choir performances I have seen before. I was not expecting the scale of the concert to be so large. Instead of being one choir and an hour-long program there were four groups along with a much longer program. Each of the choir groups had a different dynamic, sound and feel to it. The differences made it interesting.
Concerts contain so many sensations. The white chairs being put away, the stage getting placed back on the big black trailer piece by piece, and the quiet shuffles of the last feet leave the stadium; the stadium transforms into the purple and white stadium it once was, leaving no
On Wednesday July, 8 I attended a concert at the Mimoda Studio located in Los Angeles the concert started at eight o’clock. On that day there was a group of four Instrumentalists performing a cello concert. The performances consisted of acts of big composers such as David popper the cellist also Alexander Konstantinovich ,it last about an hour. The show did not include programs so I will have to go off my notes some of the pieces that were played for David popper were Serade, Ballet scene, Gavotte, and La Chanson villageoise. The pieces played from Alexander Konstantinovich were impatient, land of heroes. There were also some Armenian chants played from the medival times, that were either composed by Sahakdukht orkhosrovidukht.
For this assignment I chose to compare and contrast two concerts. The first concert is from the modern era, while the other is a Baroque Era concert originating from the 17th Century preformed by a modern day orchestra. The Baroque Era Concert takes place in a large modern day Lutheran Church in front of a small crowd of well dressed onlookers. The second concert that I chose for this assignment is a modern day rock concert from the English Symphonic Rock Band, Muse. This concert takes place at the O2 Sheppard’s Bush Empire Theatre in London, England. The crowd is large and ruckus, the concert is loud, bright, and energetic.
