But how will you act the next time life gives you a roadblock or a challenge? In the texts “The Explosion,” “We Beat The Street,” and the multimedia clip October Sky, roadblocks happen quite often, and the sources show how individuals are ready to overcome them in order to achieve their goals and blueprint. In “The Explosion,” Homer faces not having support from his father and brother. While, in “We Beat The Street,” the three doctors face having to grow up in a community where whoever surrounds you is your friend/family. However in the multimedia clip October …show more content…
In all of the stories each of the roadblocks have influences, such as the setting, people, and more. These influences affected the way they grew up and the way they reacted towards certain things. For example in “We Beat The Street” the three doctors (Rameck, George, and Sampson) grew up in a bad neighborhood in Newark which was mostly gang area, so whoever they lived by meant they were their friends. After hanging around them for a while they started to act like their friends, and became obnoxious, jerks, and started to fool around a lot. This caused them to be disrespectful to not only their friends and family but also their teachers. Homer from the multimedia October Sky movie clip was influenced by where he grew up because where he grew up no one really ever got a very nice job or succeeded. Most people who grew up in Coalwood stayed in Coalwood and worked in the mine. Injuries were often and when Homer’s dad gets injured, in order to still have a home and be able to live Homer has to work as a replacement for his father in the coal mine. This caused him to appreciate what he has and made him realize that he had to work if he wanted to do what he wanted, and what he wanted was to go into space. After his dad recovered, Homer told his dad that he hated coal mining. After this he started to really focus on his rocket for the national science fair, that he ended up winning. Homer from “October Sky” was not supported by his father and his brother. This caused him to want to attempt to prove himself, so he began to work hard towards school and showed that he was more capable of what his father thought he was, and that he was able to accomplish his dream of working for NASA. This is how in all of the stories certain influences affected them and how them made them who they are
Life is like an obstacle course, you run into multiple obstacles on the way to the finish line, and there's no telling how many hindrances you may encounter. Very few people can go their whole life without obstacles along the way, others can’t seem to get away from them, but with every obstacle comes a beneficial or deleterious concomitant.
Mood, whether it be kind and optimistic or cold and unhappy, it is what readers feel while reading a story. In Narcisco Rodriguez's memoir, "The Blueprints of Our Lives," several moods are portrayed, making the reader feel many different things about the memory of his childhood. In this story, the author is looking back at his childhood where he lived in a small, three-room apartment with his Cuban immigrant parents. He remembers how his neighborhood was a community full of hardworking immigrants that would help each other no matter what. Narcisco Rodriguez reflects on his early life with pride for his parents and the industrious people that surrounded him. The way the author talks about his early life gives the reader a feeling and mood of
trying to change or overcome obstacles can be damaging. Life is full of struggles, but it
Adversities are hard to avoid in one’s life; everyone has to face them at one point in their life. The effect it has on a person’s life can change their perspective towards the world. When problems arise individuals traditionally become stunned to such difficult situations that they face. The adversity becomes a brick wall that is challenging to break down. An individual's true character in addition to their nature is revealed when they face a conflict in their life or a challenge. The people who conquer the challenges that life throws at them, they are the only one’s worthy enough of being called a warrior. In the novel, The Chrysalids by John Wyndham has his protagonist David go through some conflicts which he overcomes throughout the story.
In life we may go through hardships that take us down a path that benefits us in the future and make us stronger individuals. These hardships can influence a person’s life by making us face obstacles we don’t want to face and
Imagine having the perfect life- you get into all honors classes, you get straight A’s, you are the first chair in the orchestra, you get into the A Cappella choir, you are on the varsity volleyball team, President of the Student Council, and you have a perfect home life. You have never had to face a single obstacle throughout your journey in life. When your whole life is like this, you do not know what failure feels like and will never experience the need to rise up after a downfall. There are many types of journeys one can take in life and dealing with obstacles has a prodigious impact on the outcome. The obstacles and hindrances are the things that shape us as we experience the ups and downs in life.
You will have many obstacles in life but you must always persevere, you must try to think positive and use different ways to cope with your problems. In one story they burn and sell their things, in one they have to skip school to do farm work, and finally, in another, a man thinks fast on his feet to save everybody. They have different lives but the same goal, to overcome their struggles in life. For example, in the novel excerpt “The Grapes of Wrath”, John Steinbeck tells how a family, during dust-storms in the Great Depression, had to sell or burn their things and leave their home behind.
A lesson I took from the story about achieving success is that no matter what obstacle you encounter, you need to keep pushing forward to your end goal and beyond. Certain situations can cause us to pause or if they’re severe to completely give up on our goals.
Challenges throughout life can shape an individual in myriad ways; however, a few challenges can change an individual’s life. Moreover, these changes can change one’s life positively or negatively. Furthermore, if citizens do not challenge themselves, they may never encounter anything that benefits them to their full potential or something that one may enjoy. Last, life is not easy thus; one must go through difficulties in order to gain benefits.
Sometimes in life, situations may knock you down to a breaking point of giving up. These situations can make you or break you; but whatever you chose the choice is yours. Challenging circumstances can make you feel as if the world is caving in on you. Moreover, you must learn to push through your trials and tribulations and get back up again. Life never said it would be easy, or challenging. You must continue to keep dreaming, and keep that hope alive within your heart, and strive to become a stronger solider for the next mountain that may come against you. In life, we will not always see good days. However, your good days should outweigh your bad days. As long as you have breath in your body, you will always win the battle that’s ahead of you. The story of Lolo Jones exemplifies this breaking point, and the discouragement she experienced to doubt her dreams.
It's an ongoing journey, and addressing these challenges is a testament to strength, not weakness. Life's struggles are the crucible in which our character is forged. From personal setbacks to societal pressures, each challenge offers an opportunity for resilience and personal development. By confronting these adversities head-on, we not only survive but thrive, emerging stronger and more resilient than before. Surviving life's unpredictable twists and turns requires a unique blend of courage and tenacity.
Before you are born, you sit down with your spiritual guides (for approximately 2 years Earth time) and together you decide what lessons you need to master during this lifetime, what negative karma you need to balance, and what personality traits you will possess during this lifetime to help you to achieve your life lessons. This forms the basis of what is known as your Soul Life Blueprint.
“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.
In my 38 years of life, I’ve had to overcome plenty of obstacles. When examining my life, especially in my younger years, it showed me life consists of an assortment of minor and major obstacles. Facing an obstacle, especially a major one, and conquering it, awards me a triumphant feeling. Furthermore, this feeling did provide me with determination, willpower, and courage to take on any future obstacles that life can throw at me (Harrington, 2012). This makes minor obstacles to become like a cake walk.
Everyone experiences adversity. Challenges that everyday people experience can potentially shape, improve, or destroy one's sense of self and personality. Through all these hardships and seemingly impenetrable obstacles, the most pertinent component of one's ability to overcome can only be shown in actions taken despite the odds. People have one of two options; to let those obstacles overwhelm them and keep them from pursuing all that they were destined to accomplish, or to march forward, fight harder and push past the seemingly impossible circumstances to become greater than they ever expected to be, but until they take the step that enables them to be successful -- they are stranded. All of our actions, mistakes, successes, and behaviors shape our person and what we can or cannot become, but what will always matter is our individual decisions and actions not those of the people around us because at the end of the day, we are the ones who have to deal with ourselves.
