Using the SMART method, my long term goal is to continue my work as a CNA while applying for healthcare administrator positions. I would like to work as an administrator for at least 3 years for any medical setting. While working, I will be looking into ways on how I can own and operate a home healthcare agency. According to Marak, (2017), I really don’t need to have experience in the medical industry; I would just need to have the passion for providing care, the marketing savvy, an understanding of business knowledge, and integrity. With my CNA experience, along with my other work experiences, I am half way there.

I have worked in the customer service and restaurant industry for eleven years, and I am currently transitioning careers into the healthcare field. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Oregon State University. I have always had an interest in nursing, so I decided to apply for the nursing program at Central Oregon Community College. While taking my nursing courses, I knew I had made the right choice as I became increasingly fascinated and interested in medicine.

The plan of care I would use for Susan is strength based strategies. I believe that this technique would embrace her strengths in respect to the reoccurring traumatic events in her life and it would be a starting point for positive change. I do not want to come off as an expert ready to fix or address the issues and not allow the client to participate in the process. I would not ignore the problems but allow Susan to identify her own problems and create solutions. I find this approach helpful because as a counselor we tend to take control of therapy to formulate goals and feel inadequate when the clients
