We all go through hard times but it is about how you look at them because you can make light in every situation. It is about how you let those rough times determine the type of person you are gonna be when they are over. There is a point in everyone's lives, when their life will completely shift because of some major event that happened to them. That situation does not have to determine who you will be or what you will do. You cannot dwell on past events because it will only hurt you in the long run. We need to grow from those type of things because every situation is temporary.
To begin with, my life changing experience was when my parents got into motorcycle accident, that killed my dad. They were on the way home from a restaurant, on highway two when my dad passed out on the bike. Both of my parents were thrown off. My dad was thrown into the corn field and we think he landed on something hard or the impact of being thrown off was too strong. He had broken multiple bones and went into multiple organ failure, which forced the doctors to put him into a induced coma. My mom was luckier, she walk away from the accident with just two broken arms. She was released from the hospital within the first couple days. Secondly, the accident happened on Friday the 13th, the summer of 2014. I was twelve years old and I talked to my Dad for the last time ever, the night before the accident. The last thing we said to each other was, “goodnight and do not let the bedbugs bite, I love you”. I saw my mom the day of the accident, we went to eat but my Dad was working all night. After that, my mom dropped us off at our cousins for a sleepover so she could meet up with my dad. Later that night, I got a call from a random number, which I never usually answer random numbers but I had a strong feeling that I should. When I answered, my parents friend was crying and trying to explain to me that my parents got into a bad accident, at that point I had to give my cousin the phone because I was a wreck. After that, we went to Porter Memorial Hospital where my mom was but I would soon find out my dad was not. I saw my mom that night but not my dad until the day he passed away. I will never forget the way my parents both
An experience that really changed my life was when my grandfather was on the verge of death in the hospital. I remember seeing my family crying and my heart ached. I visited him every day and came home to study for my exams. I would sleep late every night to study and cry. In that moment, I realized how precious life was and how much of an impact we as individuals have other people. Ever since, I have tried to enjoy every single moment of life, whether a simple walk to school or spending time with my family.
Hardships are a permanent part of life we will always come across. They can toughen us up to the world we live in.
I've experienced a lot of events which had great impact on me since I was young. Thinking of life changing events, the one I would like to share is when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. It was a very devastating day for me. A day that changed my life. I never thought Id get through but today I can say that Diabetes has changed me for the better.
I had an experience that changed my life completely in just in a blink of an eye. Even though 19 is still a young age, it should never happen to anyone. I stop to think every day about that day and what had happened to me was a tragedy. Ever since then, I’ve seen how much I have changed and because of that I cherish life
On a Sunday morning of March 15 1998, we woke up super early to the phone ringing on the other side was my dad. My grandmother answered the phone her face paled as she heard the words “mom I shot myself.” After talking to him for a bit my grandmother rushed out of her room to get my uncle up and they rushed to the house to see him up walking around with a hole in his stomach. Ambulance came to get him then rushed him to meet life force. He flat lined once on the helicopter. They were able to bring him back and stabilized him, and kept him stabled till they got to the hospital. They rushed him immediately into the OR, it was around 15 to 20 minutes into surgery that he had passed away, they were unable to bring him back due to the major loss of blood. My mom soon remarried and I gained two annoying step brothers and a step dad. One step brother didn’t bother me to bad, the other one poked and picked on me trying to pick fights. My step dad had episodes where he was violent and threw things at me and my mom. I withdrew more and more until a few of my friends literally grabbed me by my arm and told me to wake up that they were not going to let me push them away
Before my mom sent me and my dad off to find help, she was on the phone with the roadside assistance which seemed like forever. All of a sudden we then realized the gas station wasn’t that far down the road, at least that is what we thought. We started to walk to the gas station, our foots sinking in the mud, the cold mud rises to our ankles. We immediately turn around knowing that this wasn’t the right decision. The gas station was longer than we thought, it was not even visible. Trudging back to the car we come to find my mom on speakerphone with the phone ringing. It goes straight to
To this date, it was the worst phone call of my life. I was informed my father and stepmother were in a motorcycle accident in Florida where they retired for the winter. My stepmother was expected to have a painful, long recovery, as she suffered from multiple fractures to her face, a dislocated jaw, and pelvis that was broken in 3 places, plus many small cuts and bruises. My father, however, had not awakened after the accident and we should get to the hospital in Florida as soon as possible. My brother, his wife, and I booked flights and we were on our way they next day. It was not how I expected to spend Easter. The next four days were a blur. We met with doctors and nurses and didn’t feel like we had any answers to the real condition of our father. We knew of his injuries but not what they meant to his future. He had bruising between the hemispheres of his brain, on the outside of the brain, bruising on his brainstem, and multiple open fractures on the left side of his body. I couldn’t get any of his doctors to tell me their opinion on his prognosis. They would only say, “we need another 48 hours”. The only thing I could think was, “if you knew my dad, he would hate this. You life flighted him, now he’s hook to machinery to breath, and all he would have wanted was to have the ambulance run him over and put him out of his misery”. We knew my father’s wishes and they didn’t look anything like
An incident that changes the direction of my life was, when I broke my foot. As a young kid I loved playing sports and do aggressive activities. One day playing soccer someone who was bit stronger than I was, kicked my foot which caused the bones to break. I fell to the floor not knowing what just happened. All I remember is that some EMT’s come to the rescue and took me to the hospital. I was so glade and appreciative with the EMT’s that took care of me. As a result I told myself I will do everything that I can to help out the community just liked I was helped instead of worrying about myself and not others. I started volunteering with the fire department and received all the certifications required in order to start helping those in need.
Throughout our lives, we are faced with many adversities. Whether they are failing an important math test, a family death, or even breaking up with a significant other. However, how we face our adversities. From these difficulties, we our now given opportunities to learn from our experiences. Our hardships in life are not situations that we can simply can overcome instantly. Instead, our adversities do become a part of us for a short while. Poet Jon Sinclair once said that “Failure is a bruise, not a tattoo.” I believe that this applies also to adversity. This quote points out that when we do face hard times, it is not a debilitating factor that sticks with us forever. Yes, the it is going to set us back some and cause trouble. However, as
It was one life-changing experience I was seven years old when I became grateful for the things that I had. I remember packing for this big trip my parents were planning for a year now. I precisely recall my mother telling me to go through my closet and pick clothes I did not use to give away, I didn't know why, but I didn't ask, I just did it. As the day got closer I remember my parents had accumulated a great amount of things to give away. I quite didn't understand why they were gathering so many things and for what reason.
It has been said that life can never be carried out and truly lived to its fullest unless there has been some sort of suffering and pain. Mistakes are to be learned from, and a hard past can only result in a stronger present. Though many might find themselves alone in their misery the truth is they are not, everyone has struggles. We all have our ups and downs, but it is how we react to them that truly matters. Life is life and no matter what, giving up on lifelong dreams and aspirations because of a few bumps in the road should never be an option.
A life-changing event is not something to be taken lightly. Throughout our lives, we encounter many obstacles and changes, some of which bring us joy and excitement, others of which may be hard for us to handle. When I look back on my relatively short life, it may, at first, be hard for me to think of an event that has truly molded and shaped the person that I am today. I have encountered several changes, but at the time, they felt like mere speed bumps along my path. Looking back now, it is easy for me to see that these changes were not by chance, but were placed in my path to form the person that I am today.
There are many different life changing events that can change your life. Sometimes things happen in people’s life and they can’t do anything about it. Changes can be good and sometimes it can be a terrible thing that results in a positive turn in one’s life. Change is a part of life that no one looks forward to. Everyone’s life changes at some point. Life is full of many unexpected challenges that will be thrown in your face at any place and any time. People learn and grow from every experience that they go through in life. Some of the events that have changed my life was losing my grandmother, graduation, and going to college. Changes come almost every day in my life.
In life we all have something that has changed the way we perceive things. Most things that change a person’s perception happens to be an experience that they have gone thru and learned from. In my case it wasn’t necessarily an experience, it was a dog that changed my perception on life. My mind and heart was opened in a whole new way. I never thought I could love an animal just as much as I loved the people in my life. I always thought it was strange that pet owners loved and treated their pets the same way they treated their children. My perception on dogs or pets in general definitely changed. Throughout this paper you will see why I am a totally different person because of a dog that entered my life.
Everyone has that one experience that makes them look at life with a new set of eyes. My life changing experience happened a little earlier than most. It was the summer before first grade. We had gotten an exceptional amount of rain in the past months even though it was summer. I did not notice, though, because summer was every six year old's favorite holiday, next to Christmas and their birthday. My summer was supposed to be like any other but it quickly took a turn. For the best or for the worst? That is debatable.
