I turned off the car and took a deep breath. Looking slowly up into the pink sky, I began to watch the golden sun go to sleep. The beach seemed deserted, quiet, but peaceful. I opened my door and put my feet out on the soft sand. I started taking my shoes off, then my socks. I threw them in the passenger seat, and then shut the door. I looked out over horizon of the lake and started walking towards the still water. With each step I took, I could feel the warm sand crunch between my toes. Then suddenly, a sharp rock, but not sharp enough to break the skin. Closer and closer to the calm water, I began sinking deeper in the sand. It was comforting, the silence, tranquility, and warmth of the faint sun. There is a slight breeze, warm, but …show more content…
When I opened my eyes, all the birds were gone except for one. The bird was like me. It didn't want to fly away; it wanted to stay there on that lonely beach and watch the sunset of a lifetime. No sound, just the wind blowing thunderously through my ears. And the waves crashing down on the wet sand. It made the hair on my arms stand up and I got a chill, but I didn't move. I took another deep breath and started walking towards where the water meets the sand. With each step I took, the sand got cooler and cooler. Then, with a final step, it turned cold. My feet were in the cold water and sand. It was sudden, wet, but soft. The dark blue water drew back in. Thrusting violently, crashing everywhere, the lake threw its cool brisk body into my dry legs, scaring the lone bird away with its unique destructive sound. The wind started to pick up a little. It was extra cold on the wet spots of my body. The water was as black as silence, with only a slight reflection of the sun. I could not tell the lake was there. The sun took the lake with it, to share with someone else. I stood there for a couple more seconds, and before I knew it, the sun was gone. The colors became more independent as the shadow of the sun lessened. Then, it was gone. Without trace, sound, or movement. It was strange to me: an energy source as abundant as the sun was just in my presence an energy source that heats a whole planet and a lonely beach had left without a
Suddenly my eyes flew open, the coldness slowly lingered away. My body felt warm. Almost as warm as how my mouth felt the last time I had sipped on my grandmother's tea. My grandmother always told me to have faith and to believe in the end everything would be alright. I felt the frigid saltwater against my skin. “Where am I?” I thought to myself. I couldn’t quite recall what had happened nor where I was. All that I could recall was hearing screams of innocent children and parents trying to comfort
The ground was frosted with the elegant silver sand which oozed between my toes for every step I took. Every grain of the glossy particles tickled my feet as I immediately launched it backwards while progressing through my walk. The immense amber sunlight punctured my eyes forcing me to briefly avert to pull out my sunglasses. I slowly placed the stiff ends of the glasses above my ear until I observed my surroundings drop a level of brightness. I made out the glossy, tall glass buildings and skyscrapers created a mountain range across the thin horizon. A gust of wind hurled a storm of sand across practically into outer space, causing it to be even harder to identify the building shapes. The beryl sea went through metamorphosis and transformed into a gorgeous light blue shade for every time the sun struck it. The sea whispered to the seagulls and pigeons who constantly screeched as they scanned the territory in search of the smallest item they can call eatable. With hunger in their stomachs, they continued to screech while they pinched one another with their golden beaks over a simple stale, moldy french fry. A heard the chair calling for me since my body was worn out from the long drive, so I threw myself onto the firm plastic chair to rest. Almost like be trapped in a pile of gelatin, I slowly shut my eyes, and was able to clear the swamping of my brain to become the
Life jacket all strapped on, getting to the last step and I’m in. I feel the rush of the cold water running all over my body like a pack of fire ants attacking their prey. I let go of the ladder and step on the lake floor, slim, allege, little water bugs everywhere, the smell of fresh lake with a hint of fish comes to me. I walk around on the lake floor going deeper as I go, my life jacket starts to kick in and I’m loosing footing as I continue walking into the unknown. I get to a point where there’s a clear line where there’s a drop off, one side is the lake floor the other is a black hole. Pretty soon it’s me and the lake, and I just lay back and enjoy every bit of it. The blue sky with white streams left behind from the passing jets, making lines that cross each other every which way. The waves coming in from boats way out and beyond, gently hitting me and pushing me just inches closer towards shore. Birds sing their song, pine trees blow in the wind, sun beating down hitting my face, blinding me as it always does. I return to the real world and realize I floated back to where I started out, the lake knew it was time to head in. I step over to the silver ladder who spends its days and nights in this clear, cold lake helping those who dare to step in. I get up to the top of the ladder and step onto the dock, where my towel was waiting, to provide some warmth back to me. I wrap my towel around me and start the walk back to our beach house. I am careful not to slip on the rocks that washed up from the lake, and I make it to grass and flat
After traveling for 3-hours, my family arrived at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland. After making a quick trip for groceries, we decided to go to bed and set alarm clocks for early in the morning. After a good nights sleep, I woke up to the pleasant smell of bacon and eggs. After feasting on a delightful breakfast, my brothers and I began to get ready for the beach. We went down the creaky wooden stairs of our beach house and unlocked the storage room located beneath the home. I decided to carry both of the floral umbrellas while my brothers took the portable beach chairs. After grabbing all of our gear, we headed back up the weathered stairs and towards the distant sand dunes. As we approached the entrance of the sand dunes, the satisfying sounds of the ocean's waves started to become closer and closer. Once we traveled closer, the vivid orange sun began to ascend from the deep sea. At this early point in the morning, the sand walkway enclosed by
Strolling down a beaten dirt trail with green mossy trees on either side. A soft breeze brushes a kiss against my cheek, as it pushes past, earth mixing with sea salt hits my nose. Soon the faint sound of waves kissing the shore, children’s laughter, and seagulls screeching calls to me. Walking along the winding dirt trail until the texture beneath my toes change. The trees part and on either side the trees rise into the air, becoming cliffs as far as my eyes can see. Instead of dirt beneath my feet it has been replaced by sand in between my toes. I walk towards the white cap waves where the water washes up against my ankles excitedly and then pulls back with remorse. Sea mist leaves a moist kiss against my cheeks and then
As I was running to the ocean I could see my feet sinking in the sizzling sand with each step I took. I could feel the burning sun beating down on me. As I jumped in the water I felt that sense of cold that made me feel refreshed. I could see everything the water was so clear. I could see all the rainbow fish and the little creatures that live in the sea swarming around
I breathe in the warm air as I gaze out at my beautiful home. So wide I’m not even certain I’ve seen all it’s beauty that lies beneath. I can see the shadows of tiny fish swimming above the soft sand. They are so small they look as though they are microscopic. I reach down and run my hands through the wet substance that is so thick that my muscles grow tired the deeper my hand goes. As I lift my hand up, the sand makes a cloud of powder, slowly drifting through the water. The waters are so calm as though nothing could anger them. Each wave slowly rocking back and forth to the rhythm of the sea. I lower my fins beneath the water and a coolness rushes through me as I feel the cold, wet water. The soft breeze brushes against my skin with the scent of an indescribable satisfaction. Hours passed as the warmth of the sun seemed to just soak into my skin and relax my mind.
The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the churning water I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love
My parents and I happily trudged out of our chilled condo room, weighed down by various beach supplies. We made our way to the elevator, slowly but surely exiting the maze we call our condo hallways. As we glided down, floor after floor, we finally reached the parking garage. We stepped out of the elevator feeling a mix of humidity and heat immediately cling to our tan bodies. We exited the garage to find a beautiful scene. Birds were flying overhead as there were sun rays beating down against white, hot sand. We crossed the bridge that held shoes and scattered shells. After we did so, we pressed our feet against the white sand that belonged to Destin, Florida. The sight was even more alluring than I had ever imagined.
I stretched my arms out and looked up and down the beach. Although I lived in Waikiki for years, it'd been far too long since I took a vacation, let alone the beach, since I'm dealing with neverending piles of school assignments and activities. As I strolled along the coastline I can feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me. I closed my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day. The beach was oddly quiet for this time of that year, only a handful of people sunbathing. I didn't mind, I was going to enjoy myself.
The air was cold and windy. The beach was black, with small glossy pebbles, and shells. The shells on the beach where beautiful, shiny, and large bigger than my head. The water was gray with rocks that were big enough to climb on. The rocks held puddles of water with ocean life living in them. Small crabs where running over my feet as I sat on the rocks looking at the wave splash against it. A small trail going off of the beach, going to a
‘’ Wake up, wake up you lazy kids’’ my mum said, ‘’we are going to the beach”. My sister, my two brothers, and I woke with extreme energy, happy because it was the first time we visit the beach that summer. The day dawned bright, the sky was painted in bright blue; the beautiful sun was gleaming and shining gloriously. It was idyllic for a picnic by the sea. We quickly packed our stuff, we took some snacks and swimming outfits, and of course chair decks; we took a fast breakfast, and then we headed to the beach. I was very excited because it was my first summer without the safety armbands. However, I knew that it was going to be a bit of scary and risky but not as much what happened with me, it was like the first day at school.
I walked along the beach. As I was walking I could feel the fresh smell of the beach like it was an air freshener but it also smelled that gave me a tingle in my nose. As I kept walking along the beach I could feel the light breeze coming against me. This fresh air felt warm as I felt like I was sleeping in a comfortable bed. I kept walking in the beach, as I did it felt like an escape to all my problems and also my stress. Beach felt like a solution to all my problems and could be open with anything.
The place where I feel most comfortable is a place where I am calm. A place that is peaceful in its own ways. It is the place to go to get away from all my troubles. It is the one place where I could sit forever, and never get tired of just staring into the deepest blue I have ever seen. It is the place where I can sit and think the best. A place where nothing matters but what is in that little moment. The one place capable of sending my senses into an overload. This place is the ocean.
The warm breeze of the ocean air flies past my face. The heat of the yellow sun was sizzling, beating down against my skin, tanning and burning it within seconds. Beach goers were crowded around in all directions. Seagulls gliding past the groups of people, scouting for dropped or forgotten food to eat. Their little footprints marking a trail in the sand all over the place, going in a million different directions, searching for their next meal. I take in the exquisiteness of it all, the blue-green waves crashing into the sandy shore, making white foam and bubbles wash into the sea, little boys and girls that are digging in the bright white sand running away from the small waves before they get wet. The beach is a stunning place to be; there's just something about the ocean waves and the sand between my toes that makes me just want to stay there forever.
