At the University of Vermont, scientist have found a correlation between people with light colored eyes and alcoholism. Recently published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics, a controlled study showed that people with light eyes were more likely to demonstrate signs of alcohol dependency. Blue eyes, specifically, had the highest risk out of all of the lightly colored eyes. Coincidentally, genes that control eye color are located on the same chromosome (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosome) as those that control the dependency on alcohol(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_dependence). Scientist say that correlation does not pin point causation, but the connection between the two has sparked a light in the medical world. Eyes have been said to be the key to the soul, whether that is true or …show more content…

While trying to figure out the answers to a problem in pre-calculus, my eyes squint. During my advanced athletic training class, my eyes light up with excitement when I learn about new lessons in anatomy or new stretches to help with injuries. My eyes look into my classmate’s eyes, while rehearsing my lines in my drama class. My eyes search for the term to use while explaining research strategies to other classmates in psychology. I attribute that internal feeling to me wanting to follow the societal expectation of making eye contact, so that I did not seem uninterested or rude to the person I was having the conversation with. When I broke the social norm in the first experiment, towards the beginning of our conversation, my friend started to inch closer in an attempt to get me to look at her. As I glanced up and looked towards the food courts, she looked at it too, trying to figure out what I was staring at. After a few minutes, as I began to speak, she looked away in the same manner that I had done to her. For the second experiment, after noticing that I had not looked at him, my friend moved his head around to get my attention.

This appears as an improbable conclusion. A blue-eyed boy is supposed to be someone who is highly favored and is expected to do well overall. This is a well known phrase directly out of the Cambridge dictionary. So when a research comes out and says that that people with blue eyes are prone to alcohol dependence, it is little bit of a shocker but that is exactly a research which has been retested a few times has come out and said.
