A limitation of this study was that there were only two different law classes observed and only two interviews conducted. Through this study, over 8 hours of data collection. The classes at both these observation sites were in different material, one being Criminal Law and the other being Immigration Law and Policy, which may have been a limitation. This may have been a limitation because there may be different students oriented towards these areas of law that could have affected their responses. In addition, there was an unequal gender distribution of interviewees, considering that both were female. In addition, these two sites provided different sample sizes, the first being twice as large as the second, which may be a limitation when …show more content…
Another credibility issue at these two observation sites is a difference in rankings, since the University of California, Irvine School of Law is the twenty eighth best law school in the United States, while no rank is published for Whittier Law School. There was also a bias in choosing both these settings, given that they are both situated in Orange County. I am also an undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine, so I was familiar with the campus and the navigating through the course schedules.
Implications
The findings of the current study have multiple purposes for the legal education system. These results can be useful for current law school professors and students interested in pursuing a legal education. Data shows that rankings have an impact on the prospective decisions of law students and that it can shape their opinions on where to go to law school, but rejects important variables that could affect the student’s experience at the school. In expanding the variables taken into consideration by these rankings, the U.S. News & World Report could provide more realistic ratings that enable students to choose a college that would be a good fit for them. Data shows the main goal for law students is to become professionals and gain knowledge, instead of practicing law. Based on these findings, it would be important to educate these students more about the legal professional and other graduate programs during undergraduate education. Also,
Recently, I participated in a campus tour that was led by Ms. Keli Huang. The visit provided me with a better understanding of what Cardozo Law School has to offer. Cardozo Law undeniably has an outstanding reputation among legal institutions, along with brilliant professors who are truly invested in their student’s studies. However, the inviting community is what really sets it apart from other law schools. Ms. Huang raved about the supportive and friendly environment among the students. The welcoming atmosphere at Cardozo Law offer the students an unparalleled legal education that cultivates energetic strong class of attorneys; it is a community I would be honored to be part of.
I define myself as a curious researcher and reflective practitioner who perceives legal education as a combination of passion and practicality. Whereas my idealistic side wants to thoroughly understand the development of global legal ethics, my pragmatic side asks what actions should be taken by lawyers to solve international legal problems. Hence, Penn Law’s core strengths in providing a remarkably interdisciplinary learning experience and the program of Legal Practice Skills will be the bridge to my academic and professional aspirations.

On our visit to the University Of Redlands, My guide walked backwards facing us the entire time. While walking backwards our guide made a special effort to connect with us, without seeing, venturing in the unknown. I chose the University of Redlands because of its academic rigor, diverse student population, and the beautiful campus. My interests are Business Administration, Political Science, Pre-law, Corporate and Sports Contractual Law. Attending at this remarkable University would allow me to invest in myself and would help change the world perspectives around me. A career in law will enable me to help people who are less fortunate and contribute to an established law firm. While attending the University of Redlands, I intend to respect

Yogi Berra believed that, “Baseball is 90 percent mental and the other half is physical.” From my tenure as a college softball pitcher at Point Park University, I learned how imperative being mentally sound is to the game of softball. The legal field is a very demanding field. I know my experiences gained on the diamond will allow me to flourish in a field dependent upon mental toughness.
The official version of the law (OVL) is “what the legal world would have us believe about itself – is that it is an impartial, neutral and objective system for resolving conflict” (Comack, 2014, p. 11). Prior to reflecting on course material I would have undoubtedly accepted the OVL, however, at this time I believe our Canadian legal system and criminal justice system lack the ability to be impartial, neutral, and objective, therefore requiring considerable changes. The chapters in which utmost enhanced my understanding of the sociology of law were “Theoretical Approaches and the Sociology of Law” by Elizabeth Comack and “Standing Against Canadian Law: Naming Omissions of Race, Culture, and Gender” by Patricia Monture as they explain and demonstrate the inequalities marginalized groups must endure at the hands of the law.

The requirements needed to practice law today consist of an undergraduate school degree, an impressive Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) score and grade point average, a law school diploma and a successful completion of the Bar Exam. There exists no legal boundaries or barriers to the practice of law, only the desire and work to do so. Subsequently, the percentage of female students enrolled in law schools across the United States has remained at nearly half of the population of universities since 2000. This percentage is
Looking forward, I hope to bring my understanding of and appreciation for complexities to Washington University School of Law. My diverse identity and experiences have taught me to approach people and situations with nuance. I grew up between a large Hispanic family and a predominantly white, well-educated community. I have grown up between the culture of the progressive and diverse D.C. and the conservative and homogenous Midwest. While challenging, living between distinct groups has showed me that life is more in the middle than anything, and the truth usually lies there as well.

First, I asked him to discuss his educational background and how he began to practice law. Mr. Dunlap, a native of the Dallas area, completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas where he studied history. He said that while he thoroughly enjoyed his degree program’s content, he did not see a future career for him with history and given that many of his older family members, including his mother, were practicing lawyers, law school seemed to him to be a natural next step for him. He returned to Dallas to get his law degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU). He said that, he felt extremely lucky that his parents were able to help finance his legal education, so finances were not a major factor in his law school decision. When I asked him how he came to choose SMU, he indicated that the two most prominent factors were the location in the state he wished to practice and the school’s estimable reputation in Texas and the surrounding states.
