Lion Pride

Shine with lion pride
To stay strong day or night
We’ll rise to meet our goals loyal , brave, and true
We got a lot of work to do
Train today, through work and play
To be nation builders too
We are america's tomorrow , we are her destiny
We cannot sink, we've got work to do
As one big family
We will persevere in what we do
Seek knowledge, truth and honour
We stand for wisdom and stand to be the bold
Wear the red and gray
When compared with the rest
Lions do it the best
Working hard, learning things, old and new
Oh , on we go to have some fun
Raise our hands and be lion true
Did you know that the number of lions has dropped by over 300,000 over the past 50 years, or that the lions in Africa are losing their habitat? In the Scope Magazine article, Attack of the Man-Eaters, by Lauren Tarshis— Colonel J. H. Patterson was a British engineer who was building a railroad in Africa in the late 1800’s. He had no idea what sort of terrors he would face during his journey. In the other Scope article, Meet the Lion Whisperer by Susan Orlean, a man named Kevin Richardson shares his amazing story of the bonds he has with his lion friends. Throughout both articles, they have many similarities and differences.
Saroo Brierley went through, a traumatic experience when he was only 5 years old. He was completely lost, miles and miles away from home. No one knew his language, or knew where he was from. After he wrote his book, it was turned into a wonderful major motion picture. The book and movie have multiple similarities and differences.
The poem “Wild Home” talks about a lion living in the wild and sitting under trees and being free while the article “Christian the Lion” talks about a lion that just got released in the wild and was born in captivity. They both talk about Lions in the wild at one point, for example they talked about Christian being released in the wild at the end. In the poem it talks about how there are Lions being in the wild for their whole lives. The things the poem and story have in common are lions living in the wild the way they want too born in captivity or not. When Lion was in the store in a cage in the window it was almost like he was in jail trapped only able to watch people walk by and stop too look at him and the other Animals. It must have been

The lions scrutinize their prey through the tall, dead grass ready to attack. They slowly creep towards their prey; eyes gleaming with hunger. The lion streak towards their victim, leaping to rip the creature apart. In the story, “The Veldt”, by Ray Bradbury, a nursery created a fake African veldt to keep the kids entertained. The kids are then addicted to the “game” and complain when their parents want to shut it off. The kids lock their mom and dad in the nursery with the African creatures. Africa is the most frightening part of “The Veldt” for many reasons including: how the veldt changes the children, the way Africa is interacting with the humans, and how much violence the creatures show.
The topic of mankind hunting in today's day and age is an interesting subject and it is one that there are many opinions on. Yet, 100 years ago hardly anyone would have had a bias against hunting. What has changed? Why are Americans split in the way they view hunters and hunting? Has our culture come to some new knowledge that has illuminated them to the wrongs of hunting? To begin to answer this question one must look at the history of hunting. Hunting has been a vital part of mans life since the beginning of their existence. For the past thousands of years mankind has depended on the harvesting of game to live. Ancient manuscripts and even cave paintings have shown that hunting played an intricate part in the life of the ancients. During those times no one questioned the correctness of hunting because it was so essential to their life and part of their nature. Around 1650 the "new world" was being colonized and people lived off the land. Deer, turkey, squirrels, rabbits, doves, and pheasants were all hunted and killed for food. In fact, without the existence
There was once an arrogant clique of mountain lions. The leader of the lions name was Bruce, he was the meanest of the lions and was the best brawler, and he was the alpha. The omega of the packs name was Grange, he was as good of a fighter as Bruce but he was more unstable. The runt of the pack’s name was Merrick he was a cougar with red hair and tried to be like Bruce as much as he could, and when it came to fighting he had no idea what he was doing, and when trying in lion school he was about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop. The final lion in the squads name was Domino. He wasn’t from the same country he was a rare Japanese lion that grew up without money or a den, and he spent most of his time do miscellaneous
“Ok son,” said the mother lion: First we hide in the big tree and roar twice with just the tip for them.” And they said.
A century ago, the lion population of Africa thrived as these animals were able to roam freely across the continent. However, owing to a multitude of factors such as poaching, trophy killings, loss of habitat area and conflicts with humans- the population of the African lion today is just 10% of what it once was. The need to address this rapid decline in lion populations is vital in ensuring that these animals are present for future generations to enjoy, whilst not impeding the access for the current generation. Lions, being a non-market public good without well-defined property rights results in society’s inability in managing this resource effectively (Shogren and Taylor, 2008); to overcome this, a market must be established which

A prized lion named Cecil who was 13 years, old was shot and killed on July 1, by a man named Walter James Palmer. Two Zimbabweans have already been arrested for giving Palmer false information about the lion saying that it was legal to shoot him while they were hunting. Palmer stated that he hired the two as professional guides for $50,000 and they got him proper permits so he assumed that everything that they did on the trip was legal. He claims to have had no idea that the lion was one of the local favorites. Coincidentally, a man that goes by the same name and is the same age as Palmer, illegally killed a black bear in Wisconsin a few years back and had to pay a fine of $3,000. The three men went out hunting at night with
