Customarily, popularized scientific sources purposes are for transferring objective knowledge to the masses, to ascertain communal civilization's apprehension of current medical, environmental, and technological advances and epidemics. These popular texts have a vital animus, for they must inform the public on composite scientific material while elucidating the data and exposition. Our daily lives are influenced to an eminent degree by scientific knowledge. In the article, Sense of Touch Recreated for Amputees in Their Prosthetics, Francie Diep explores the scientific strategy behind regenerating feeling within prosthetic limbs. She seeks the disparate contexts in which knowledge disseminates by taking into consideration not only scholarly learning mechanisms, but accent the presence of different voices in scientific texts especially through techniques linked to non-academic audiences. Power can often bring great change in a person, whether it is for the better or for the worse. Many authors showcase how power and its abuse affect others and the person in power in their stories. In the memoir Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, Bryan is a lawyer who aims to expose the discrimination in the legal system by helping those who have experienced bias due to their race or socio-economic status. In the short story “Ashes”, by Susan Beth Pfeffer, Ashleigh is a main character who is being controlled by her father to steal money from her mother. In Just Mercy, Braun Stevenson expertly utilizes dialogue throughout the book to generate empathy for the victims of the legal system while also reinforcing the theme of people tending to abuse power;
It is impossible to form a perspective on how Army uniform polices relates to Army professionalism without first accepting that Army professionalism itself is an arbitrary concept. On 31st March 2014, the United States Army published new uniform and appearance standards in Army Regulation 670-1 and immediately faced a mixture of vehement resentment and patriotic acceptance. The cause for the differing reactions is the fact that not everyone concerned—everyone being active and retired Soldiers as well as interested citizens—believe that the written regulations accurately defines what it means to be an Army professional. Some are offended that the Army would loosen it standards during times of war to fill up it ranks but after the fighting is done suddenly decide these brave individuals are no longer worthy of its institution. Still others are ecstatic the Army is returning to older rules because they are personally disgusted with the standards of the “rag tag force” that’s now assembled, including its wear and appearance of the Army uniform (Bacon, 2012). These two passionate opposing views demand an answer from the collective Army consciousness. What defines the Army professional and how do the new uniform policies fit within that definition?

The wear and appearance of soldiers in the United States Army are while in uniform should be neat. There should be no excess “things” in a person’s pocket but it should lie down flat. The person wearing the uniform should look neat and concise not drawing attention to themselves. Soldiers should look like a unit or group with everyone blending in not standing out because they look different. In the army it’s important to be part of a team and like teams that play basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, softball, baseball, wrestling, and even chess teams. It’s important to wear the same thing. It shows unity and togetherness. This is important in the armed forces especially because of what they do. In the army, marines, navy, and air force

When I first saw Lizzie Miller, I was thinking, “She is beautiful so how could this photo be taken the wrong way?” Then I saw the complete image which showed me why people criticized her. However, I didn’t change my mind to how incredible the model looked even with a belly but the great part about the photo was that it portrayed reality. When I asked a girl about the image, the first thing she told me was that the model was naked. The girl said no mention of the belly fat as a reason not to publicly show this image. The guy I asked said that picture should be allowed to be published due to the fact that she is in her most natural state.
The French speaking people of Quebec lived under heavy oppression in the 1950s and 60s. Many francophone people looking for work in Quebec cities were refused because of their French background. In areas such as Montreal, the francophone people were earning up to 50 percent less than their English speaking peers. There was a clear distinction between the quality of life for the English and the quality of life for the French. It was because of this distinction that the people of Quebec often resented the English and their ways of life. And it is from this resentment, the story The Hockey Sweater was written. The Hockey Sweater is a story told from the perspective of a young boy living in a small town in Quebec. He,

Waking up before the sunrise is a daily routine. Early morning film sessions, class, then practice, which dominates the day. There are few moments in between for food and socializing, but the life of a student athlete is anything but ordinary. Sleep, eat, practice and school are all an athlete knows, and with the pressures of campus life it becomes even more difficult. No time for much of anything, let alone getting a job. Like most students, these athletes need money, but do not have a spare second to work. Without any source of income, athletes are put at a major disadvantage. Their full-time job is athletics, in addition to rigorous college-level courses. The possibility of becoming a professional and making millions becomes very appealing. This course of action leads to student athletes making money illegally, dropping out of school, or leaving school early without a degree to try and make it professionally.

Racism is a well known problem throughout this world. We get judge every day whether its our race, the way we dress, the way we talk, how we do academically, and if were going to succeed in life based on others people way of thinking what success is. The following story that I read is an excellent example of the way people underestimate us just because of our race or where we stand in society.
Big business has a constructive influence on America. Large corporations contribute much more to a country’s economic well being than smaller ones. Bigger corporations are more productive, pay higher salaries and hourly, generate more jobs, and are more successful in international markets. However, not everyone believes that big business has a positive impact for the US. Some hold to the opinion that big business will never be as effective as small businesses. However, as J. D. Harrison, who covers startups, small business and entrepreneurship for the Washington Post, states that even though people believe that small business is the backbone of our nation, yet “companies with more than 500 workers employed about 45 percent of the workforce yet contributed 65 percent of the jobs created since 1990” (The Washington Post, 2013). This is not to discredit the influence of small business in the US. In fact, they are an essential part of our society. Small business have created and maintained thousands of jobs in the last half century. But we will focus on big business in this discussion. What is the history of big business in the US, and what were the fruitful results, as well harmful ones? What about the political side of big business, and finally, are there ethical associations when it comes to large corporations?
When working with children with developmental needs or delays therapists provide interventions to aid in the development of a child’s ability to walk, crawl, sit, and move. Therapists work with the children to improve muscle strength, reflexes, and muscle tone. They will also commonly provide orthoses and splinting to aid in the performance of motor skills. Another very common intervention within this setting is working with the children to help them become better able to perform common ADL’s on their own such as dressing, feeding, and washing themselves. With some patient populations occupational therapist will work very extensively with the patient to improve feeding and swallowing skills. In addition to ADL’s therapists will frequently work with children on educational related skills such as handwriting, using scissors, and social/behavioral skills needed to interact in the school environment. These skills include cooperating with peers, sharing, and taking turns during activity or play. Additionally, therapist will use interventions to address issues in sensory processing/integration and visual perception
