Companies promote their employees everyday, but when the department heads are considering which employees to promote, what should they take into consideration? Should seniority be considered or equal opportunity, or should a promotion be based solely on the worker who is dedicated to doing excellent work everyday? These questions and more come up in our group study project on Morality of Employees and Employers.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is a book written by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer in 2015. This non-fiction narrative details the journey that Kamkwamba took to create a wind turbine from scrapped materials and supply power to his small village in Malawi. He accomplished this feat in 2001 using a book entitled Using Energy to learn about wind turbines. Because of his ingenuity, he was invited to host a TED talk in 2007 and was accepted into Dartmouth University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies in 2014. Mealer, co-author of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, helped Kamkwamba turn his story into a book, writing it from Kamkwamba’s perspective.

Even small businesses can do global sales without leaving their location. With new strategies for business, comes cyber threats of identity theft and theft of intellectual property that brings information technology security and new laws into play. It is becoming a fast and ever challenging world. Computer science enables the ability to program software for protection against these kinds of threats and vulnerabilities. It also enables the ability to program artificial intelligence into the computer system software to enable society to meet their needs in more appropriate ways.
The state holds great power in media and its expression. Modern dance in America was developed as a separate identity from colonial European heritage. Much like other aspects of society, dance was also revolutionizing itself from the rest of the world by forming new techniques and training the body to encompass all. It is interesting to see how the state, even though it’s not present in classrooms directly, is indirectly present through the teachers and their method of teachings. The history of the technique and its teacher has a different authority from students learning on their own accords. By being part of the institution dancers are able to shape their body to the next technique or routine required of them, it’s not a freedom of expression
