God has created many unique things! Weather he creates big noticeable things, or even small stone looking plants, it’s all amazing! Lithops, which are commonly called “living stones”, are truly remarkable! Perfectly parallel to rocks and stones, lithops blend in very well. Since they blend in so well, it’s difficult for animals, and humans to spot them. Because they are actually plants, and not stones, they have marvelous features. They have one to four bulbs, which during certain seasons, produce flowers or leaves. Astonishing lithops are one of the many unique creations God has formed. Ruby Laffoon (January 15, 1869 – March 1, 1941) was a politician from the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was the Commonwealth's 43rd governor, serving from 1931 to 1935. At age 17, Laffoon moved to Washington, D.C. to live with his uncle, U.S. Representative Polk Laffoon. He developed an interest in politics and returned to Kentucky, where he compiled a mixed record of victories and defeats in elections at the county and state levels. In 1931, he was chosen as the Democratic gubernatorial nominee by a nominating convention, not a primary, making him the only Kentucky gubernatorial candidate to be chosen by a convention after 1903. In the general election, he defeated Republican William B. Harrison by what was then the largest margin of victory
Christopher Matthewson also known as “Big Six”, “the Christian gentlemen”, “Matty”, and “Gentleman’s Hurler” played Major League Baseball and was a right handed pitcher and played seventeen seasons with the New York Giants. He was voted the most dominant pitcher in the history of baseball and is ranked in the top ten in many key pitching groups, including wins, shutouts, and ERA, if taking 19th century pitchers statistics into account. Otherwise Matthewson and Walter Johnson would hold the distinction of being the only two pitchers placed in the top ten in both career wins and ERA. In March 1, 2009, suspect Lawrence Henry Lewis and Lawrneil Henry Lewis and their cousin Alejandro Sam Gray threw a large piece of concrete at customers in a gay bar in Galveston, Texas. There individual who was a victim, his name was Marc Bosaw. He needed 12 stitches in his head from being hit by concrete.
In 1788, Israel Ludlow, Matthias Denman, and Robert Patterson bought 800 acres of land from John Cleves Symmes along the Ohio River at the mouth of Licking River. John had purchased 2,000,000 acres of land from the Confederation Congress in 1787 and hoped to become rich by selling parts of the purchase to others. By early January 1789, Israel had planned out the town, dividing it into two types of lots. Israel, Matthias, and Robert provided the first 30 settlers with two free lots, one of each type. The men named the town Losantiville. The town grew slowly at first. Settlers had constructed twenty cabins and one frame house. Eleven families and two dozen single men lived on the land. Eventually it increased in size.
Peter Lalor was a hero, a risk taker. He had a significant impact on Australia’s democracy. He stood up for the miner’s rights in Eureka. He was the leader of the Stockade. Peter Lalor was a brave and courageous man. We still remember him now for what he has done for the miners. He proved to the government that people’s thoughts mattered and for their rights. He was a threat to the governor’s control.
Robert Henry Lawrence Jr. was the first African-American astronaut to be selected for space travel. Robert graduated Englewood High School in the top 10 percent of his class. He later became an air force pilot and later was selected for space travel. Robert is considered the first black astronaut to be selected for space travel but does it count if he died before going into space? Furthermore, his name was written on the Space Mirror (which is a list of all the people who have died in space related accidents) for the astronauts those astronauts who have died. Early 1990’s was a difficult time, especially for the south central. During 1991 and 19992 was the worst record for crime; the murder rate was the highest in LA in history. There were about 1077 murders many of which came from gang violence in south central. The match that set off the 1992 LA Riots. Was the videotape of Rodney King being brutally beaten by five police officers, as well as the murder of Latasha Harlins in 1991. The officers were found not guilty by a mostly white jury, so the African American grew angry and disappointed. The Korean woman who killed Latasha didn’t serve jail time, which caused a deep strain on the relationship between Korean and Africans. White people were the main targets, but Koreans also experienced gun battles
On, April 5th, 1903, a baby named Lennie Small was born in a tiny town in California. He was an unusually big baby, being 15 pounds and 26 inches long. Lennie grew up with his Aunt Clara on a farm. His parents had died in a house fire when Lennie was just a couple of months old. Lennie’s older brother, John, woke up in the middle of the night right in time to save Lennie from the house fire. John carried Lennie for 36 miles to his Aunt Clara’s farm; just outside of the town they lived in.
In the current society of the United States of America, there was an ample amount of problems. One of the problems that arose and caused multiply amounts of distress was the rise of wars and terrorists. The United States of America broke the trust of its by putting itself in worldly situations not concerning itself and its people. A more perfect society needs to be formed because of the people not being given what they deserve and what they need. Lindsey Land will be different because it will appeal to the inner needs of its citizens and give them what they truly deserve. Lindsey Land, however, does share some of the same characteristics as the United States of America, as in having its citizens be free and allowing them to voice their own opinions. In this land, it is promised for the people to prosper in its education system, and for its government to provide and help them along the way.
Carl was at home eating cereal with his brothers and some friends getting ready for school. They all were very good students but one.One of his best friend’s was LaQuisha Leroy Jones, LaQuisha was a bad person LaQuisha always did bad stuff at school. Eventually Carl followed LaQuisha’s ways and didn't pay attention to one of his favorite teachers classes and kept going to the bathroom.
In the city of Longtown,Ohio,Founded by James Clemens,is a peaceful place where blacks and white did not discriminate each other, or at least it use to be. Now,the people of Longtown are fading from the world and White settlers are buying their land.Longtown was made by James Clemens,a freed slave from the state of Virginia, made this settlement so whites and blacks can live in harmony and peace together,but now that everyone is dying and settlers are buying their land, James’ great grandson,Connor Keiser, is trying to keep the way of life going or in other words Connor Keiser said,” We were the usual Longtown family. We all look different,and we were taught that color didn’t matter.As long as I have anything to do with it,Longtown
In days long when many non-whites were racially segregated , and/or discriminated, making a colored community was unthinkable.That was until one man named James Clemens, a freed slave, broke that barrier, and established Longtown Ohio.The uniqueness of the community, though, was that it was a sanctuary for many different races that were unfit for other communities. This was a place where many different races could interact with each other peacefully. If Riverside, or even our country as a whole had this type of ideology, then there is a likelihood that we would all live in harmony, and safety. In today’s society, a good quality education is an important and valuable necessity. As a college student at Lone Star College, my college experience has greatly influenced me in an enormous amount of ways. By attending college, I have not only had a chance to receive a quality education and degree, but also an opportunity to socialize and interact with various people from different cultures. In addition, the professors on campus have been extremely helpful towards teaching me to succeed in both inside and outside the class room. Furthermore, my college experience at Lone Star has greatly influenced and encouraged me to be successful and achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.
