When it comes to the subject of history, doesn’t it make more sense to learn what really happened rather than from a fable? History can be taught in various ways, one is through historical facts. As harsh as these facts are to learn from at times, such as the brutality of the Holocaust, they are a better way to grasp the realities of the past. Teaching history through fiction is an ineffective way to teach students because it is misleading and gives a distorted view.
When people ask Don McLean what does American Pie really mean, he likes to reply: “It means I never have to work again.”
When I was younger I used to be so enthusiastic about Littlest Pet Shop. I first started liking Littlest Pet Shop toys when I was around the age either eight or nine. I did not know what they were until I met this girl, and I started going over to her house. We started playing with the toys and then she started giving me some of her toys that she had two of. Ever since that day up until I was either thirteen or fourteen.
Little Timmy is the teacher's pet. Never cussing, doing homework, or ever breaking the rules. Once the bell rings, Little Timmy is no longer Little Timmy. Kids, like adults, have two faces.
American society has been drastically shaped through the strong beliefs of its poets, journalists and all around writers such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Gisnsberg, William S Burroughs and many more. Although each and every one of these writers are brilliant individuals, it is undeniable that they were highly influenced by the great Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman was a bright American individual who consistently crossed the conservative boundaries with his excellent writing skills. Walter “Walt” was an American poet, essayist and journalist. He was a big part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism and both of his views were apparent in his works. Walt Whitman's work was very controversial for his time period, especially his

Niccolo Machiavelli, who lived during the Renaissance, was a politician, a philosopher, and an author. His most highly regarded book, “The Prince” details the ways in which Machiavelli believes the world should be run. By using real world examples, as well as his own opinion, Machiavelli puts up points about everything that could harm a ruler, but also about what could lead to a leader becoming one of the greats. Machiavelli’s work was accepted widely around the world, and still to this day is read around the world; not necessarily as a guide, but as an insight into the world that Machiavelli wanted. Leaders around the world currently follow many different methods to rule their people, however if they followed some of Machiavellis rules, there might be less backlash towards those in power. Rulers, in Machiavellis mind, must be smart and cunning, but also thoughtful of those he is ruling, because in the long run, the people of his kingdom can determine his fate.
Some people believe that certain individuals are better than others. They were not born thinking this but were told this later in life. This book is a great example of someone who believes everyone is equal. In The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the main character, Bruno, moves with his family for his father’s new job at Auschwitz. Bruno can see the camp but does not know who is there or what is going on. This changes when he goes over and meets a prisoner named Shmuel who is the same age. Their friendship is the only thing keeping Bruno from wanting to leave. In this book, John Boyne teaches the reader that people are equal, no matter how different their backgrounds are.
In the novel Peter Pan by J.M Barrie, a boy forever stuck in his adolescence meets a young girl named Wendy, her two brothers John and Michael, and takes them on an adventure to the mythical island of Neverland where they encounter The Lost Boys, Captain Hook and his crew, and a foul mouthed fairy named Tinkerbell. In the novel, Wendy is affected by family because the Lost Boys want her to be their mother, Age, because in the end when Wendy finally grew up she ceased to believe causing her to forget how to fly, and Love because as much as she loved Peter and the Lost Boys she knew that she had to return home.
I’ve always had an interest in puppets. The way their limp, lifeless body seems to mimic life by moving a few strings. When I was a young boy, I had a small collection of puppets I kept on my shelf. Whenever I felt lonesome I would reach up on my tippy toes and grab one down.
Most people are familiar with the story of Little Red Riding Hood. There are many different adaptations of the tale, all with different interpretations. As times changed, so did the story. Two adaptations that demonstrate the changing perspectives over time are “Little Red Cap” by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm and “Company of Wolves” by Angela Carter. Although both stories have similar characters and themes, the plot contrasts and different character descriptions demonstrate how society’s views have evolved.
“I suppose I always knew that I made Peter by rubbing the five of you violently together” (Biography.com Editors). J.M. Barrie may have used the Llewelyn Davies boys as inspiration for Peter Pan, but the death of his brother, Barrie’s small appearance, and reclusive mother may have influenced the boy who would never grow up. Peter Pan has been a part of many childhoods, especially after the Disney adaptation, but the original story was a delight to 1904 audiences in London. With flying actresses as Peter, the public fell in love with Barrie’s fantastical tale of pixie dust and this brings us to the question: What was Barrie’s relationship with Peter? J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan was based upon his personal feelings and relationships.
The Holocaust was the extermination of over 6 million Jews throughout, and leading up to, World War II. The tragedy took place in Europe and was conducted by the Nazi’s which was under the leadership of Adolf Hitler. Hitler ordered the entire population that belonged to a specific racial group or religious crowd, mainly targeting people of the Jewish religion, to be executed. This further covered all disabled people, homosexuals, Serbs, Jehovah Witnesses and many alternative citizens to be wiped out. Approximately 17 million innocent people murdered by the Nazis during that period. Stripped of food, water and little to no health services,
I believe Peter Pan is a ghost because no one could touch him in the play, but can touch them if he wants to. Ghosts aren’t able to be touched but they can touch you. Peter tries to get his shadow back, like how some ghosts try to get things when they were alive. Ghosts don’t have shadows, but they can be shadows. Also, little kids can only see and hear him, but older kids and adults can only hear him. Ghosts can be seen by all people, but mostly animals and little kids can see and hear them. Their brains are less developed than adolescent and adult human brains, which shut out anything that seems unreal. So, in all we can imagine that Peter Pan is obviously a ghost. In addition, when Wendy tries to give Peter Pan a thimble(kiss)
The word aphrodisiac comes from the Greek goddess Aphrodite, who symbolizes love, beauty, fertility, and sometimes marriage. She is known as one of the 12 Olympians of Greek mythology who live on Mount Olympus (Daly 11). In Roman mythology, her name is Venus, which is where the planet got its name (“Aphrodite”). From her creation in Greek and Roman mythology, Aphrodite continues to influence present culture as a symbol of beauty and the inspiration of artwork.
