How many times in life do we become overwhelmed by difficult tasks and are we bullied by difficult tasks? How many times in life do we face obstacles that are disheartening and rigorous to accomplish? What if I told you that there was a secret that every human beholds and can use to accomplish difficult tasks?
The children’s story “The Little Engine That Could” portrays a little engine who wishes to carry a larger train over a hill. Throughout the story he tells himself “I think I can…I think I can”. The outcome is that he manages to successfully transport the larger train over the hill. The moral of this story is that if a person thinks positive then he or she will produce great results. In other words if you think you can accomplish a task then chances are you probably will. The secret is a positive thought process. If a man changes the way that he thinks he changes his life.
A person’s reasoning, judgment and life reflect their thought process. For example, Oprah Winfrey is a successful African American icon, Book Club owner, TV show host, and former anchor women. She comes from the back side of America and she grew up in a broken home. If Oprah Winfrey had let negative thoughts about her childhood’s circumstance gain authority over her life, then she would not be the successful billionaire that she is today. Instead she thought

These areas include your career and personal relationships with family/friends. Negative thoughts will continue to destroy various areas of your life. My point here is that people spend a lot of time seeking ways to improve their valued areas of life with a negative, mindset. Those who make poor decisions that hurt these areas of their lives are doing so because they lack the habit of positive thinking. Ultimately what is at stake is your legacy, your goals and your personal relationships. If you want to advance in life focus on the good in every situation and act on
After not being able to make a fire Brian uses positive thinking and doesn't stop trying. Brian knows that he couldn't give up because he knew he needed to make a fire. Positive thing leads Brian into making a fire because he didn't stop. Another way he used positive thinking was when a storm hit and everything such as his hut was destroyed. At first he thought that he would never be able to build it again and be back to normal. But then he told himself that he can do it and by doing that he was successful. The last way Brian used positivity was when he first was stranded in the wilderness .At first he didn't really think that he could survive but by getting the job done and really trying he was eventually rescued! This is how Brian used positive
Why do difficult challenges exist? There seems to be no point in hardships, they just cause pain and sorrow. But after a hardship, everything seems brighter, you are grateful for everything and your eyes are opened to a completely different perspective. Hardships are challenging but after overcoming hardships, you will be satisfied with excellent results.
How is our character reflected through the choices we make? Daily actions help reveal what beliefs and values are important to each individual, which will begin illustrating a person's character. One’s actions usually demonstrate important values and beliefs such as respecting others, courage, and dignity. As an individual becomes more conscientious of the values and beliefs they deem are important their choices and actions will further establish character. In “Just Lather, That's All”, Hernando Tellez develops the idea that an individual's values and beliefs influence the choices and actions they make, which in turn will further reveal the person's character. This is demonstrated by the barber’s decision to allow the Captain to leave
Yet, if all the people are shaped by their environment, everyone would end up the same and not have distinct uniquenesses that differ from other people. In order to still keep one’s individuality and remain separate from his or her peers and relations, a person should not allow what other people think of him influence how he thinks of himself. One example is Sonia

It took me sixteen years to realize that I had misinterpreted my favorite childhood story, The Little Engine that Could. In it, the book tells of a little engine that was able to travel a difficult terrain that the bigger engines had been unable to, because he believed in himself. It's a great story, but I failed to grasp that the engine had done more than just thinking he could do it for the book also describes the engine moving efficiently by moving faster and faster then more slowly as it neared the top of the grade. Last year I discovered the importance of not just thinking I could do it, but also the importance of working efficiently.
It is not mentally not looking at circumstances with eyes that see only what you want to see”. In other words using Positive Self-Talk shows us the truth on real situations. For example: you were trying out for the school volleyball team and you messed up on bumping the ball, when the negative thoughts occur that is when the positive self talk will take place “ok I’m now going to focus on what I need to complete in order to make it on the team.” There is a way in which you can develop a positive self talk habit, there are 3 steps and the first one is “Mantra”, choose a mantra and find a positive self talk for example; “I feel strong”. This positive self talk will encourage you to feel motivated. The second step is “Practice Multiple Scenarios”after using the positive self talk from step one, repeat the line so you can practice having it sink in your brain. It will help you during real situations in sports a example for this step is “Anything can happen, and I’m definitely not out of this, Don’t let up”. Finally, the last step called “Creating A Positive Mental Image Or Visualization” this technique can help you create a visual picture on what you are doing and saying This powerful combination will create a positive message.
Our surroundings can be a huge influence on who we are as a person, giving us morals and standards based on where we are. Being influenced by morals causes us to grow and develop new traits. As a prime example, Mary Anne Bell traveling to Vietnam in “The Things They Carried” changes her morals and traits due to her being there. Mary Anne Bell ventured to Vietnam to visit her boyfriend, Mark Fossie, but while she was there the war’s whirlwind engulfed her.
“When it comes to interpreting other people’s behavior, human beings invariable make the mistake of overestimating the importance of fundamental character traits and underestimating the importance of the situation and context. We will always reach for a “dispositional” explanation for events, as opposed to a contextual explanation”. (160) As mentioned before, just because someone comes from the slums, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are more likely to be troubled or commit a crime than someone who comes from a well-kept upper class community. How these two people act, see, think, and feel come from all environments - ranging from home, to school, to after school activities, to where they hang out, to what they watch or listen to. These daily sights, sounds and interactions shape the person that they become. “Character isn’t what we think it is or, rather, what we want it to be. It isn’t a stable, easily identifiable set of closely related traits, and it only seems that way because of a glitch in the way our brains are organized. Character is more like a bundle of habits and tendencies and interests, loosely bound together and dependent, at certain times, on circumstance and context”. (163) So how much and to what extent does their environment dictate their behavior? “The features of our immediate social and physical world play a huge role in shaping who we are and how we act” (168) Whether consciously or subconsciously, willingly or unwillingly, the every day choices we make or don’t make help to shape our character and define our patterns of
Someone’s psychological state isn’t always what some observers in a person. The mindset of someone can differ from people’s actions that they do, which can show one's true nature. People’s actions can be based by one’s beliefs, intelligence, talents, personality, and how they were raised. These are the main causes that can affect people’s
“Whenever you think you can or think you can’t, either way you are right (Henry Ford). ” The Secret is an informational documentary that gave me a new perspective to look at in life. It transformed the way I looked at how society is to be and how we are all ‘connected.’ The impression that The Secret left on me was that everything was in reach but it took time to achieve your goals if you had a positive perspective. Given that the law of attraction is a thing, it also makes me wonder who would be positive at all times or if it is just a state of mind.

People, especially diverse people of contemporary times commonly look at other people, situations, or life events with different perspectives. Sometimes looking at other people, situations, and life events with different perspectives cause people to make snap judgments without factual knowledge. Contributors such as personal beliefs, religion, culture, mood, personality, and relative situations can influence an interpretation of a person or event, cause a snap judgment, or possibly change another perspective. Other contributors that add influence to the common influences of perspectives and judgments are environments and
