The Little Mermaid Jr. was so much fun to be in. We rehearsed for over 3 months and our hard work finally payed off on May 5, 6 and 7th. Before every show we would warm up our vocal cords and sing fun and silly songs. The 8th graders would also share handwritten speeches talking about how their 3 years at KHMS were so great because of the musicals. Mr. Staker also gave everyone pep talks about how we are all a great cast and that we all worked really hard to make the show perfect. When it was time to finally go on stage we would shake down from 5 (shaking our hands and feet 5 times) and we would give each other high fives and hugs. When the lights dimmed that was our signal to stop talking and get ready to go on stage. We would give

After high school there are many things I want to do and carry out in my life. Upon graduation, I plan to attend Clark Atlanta University. I plan to major in criminal justice and law in hopes to pursue a career as a prosecutor. My strengths that will help me secure this dream is that I am very determined and I have astounding work ethic. My weaknesses that may hinder me from securing this dream will be my past mistakes and the lack of tenacity. Disney Dreamers Academy can help increase the odds of my success by giving me that encouragement and inspiration that I am seeking. The academy can also help by connecting me to people who was once in my predicament who can give advice on how to deal with my
The secondary tritagonist and Ariel’s best friend in the animated film, “The Little Mermaid”, is a high-strung and timid 18-year old tropical fish named Flounder. Richard Van Camp shares the story of Torchy and his series of events that takes the reader along to see and feel the tragedies of Torchy with his past and current experiences. In the short story “Mermaid” by Richard Van Camp, the author explores the realm of a true tragedy in this story through the use of the Aristotle style of the elements of tragedy displayed by the means of Torchy’s series of unfortunate events through willing blindness, dramatized actions and pity developed for the character throughout the novel. With a closer look one can identify Peripeteia among many elements of tragedy found within this novel.
In the story, “The Little Mermaid” there are demonstrations that describe what a heroine is. A female character that is noted for special achievements represents the heroine in a story. Therefore, the youngest mermaid “Little Mermaid” represents the heroine throughout the story. The Little Mermaid is a mystical creature that longs only to seek the handsome prince she laid eyes on. “Once she became human, the witch said she could never become a mermaid again” (Anderesens 185). This is an example of how the Little Mermaid chose to do something incredible and dangerous just to accomplish something she only dreamt of. Not only is the Little Mermaid the heroine of the story, but she also exemplifies other archetypal characteristics. An
Ponyo and The Little Mermaid have reflected important societal views on the individuality and standards for women during their time period. Both Ponyo and Ariel display promising female characters within a society where they did not value the individuality of women. The Little Mermaid (by Disney), and Ponyo (by Hayao Miyazaki), share similar storylines. They are both about women trying to become a part of the human world in order to be with the men they love. In order to do so, they make some mischievous and dangerous decisions.
Our society, as a whole, has its fair share of strengths and weaknesses, literature tends to reflect these standards. In general, most works of literature almost seemingly emulate the situations and viewpoints of our culture at a particular period. The Little Mermaid, a Danish fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1837, exhibits multiple examples of the general paradigms society was facing at the time. In the early 19th century women were expected to obey their husbands, have children, do household duties like cleaning and cooking, and find work as laundresses, dressmakers or nurses. Although Andersen uses a relatively progressive feminist view in his writing of the Little Mermaid, there are some dominant ideas of typical gender roles ingrained in the text. One quote from the novel reads, "...his old mother kept house for him." This excerpt implies the traditional, passive role of housekeeping for women while men occupy all noteworthy positions in society. Another passage states that Ariel and her sisters would not do anything productive but that "The whole day long they used to play in the palace."
His word stated in the American Museum of Natural History, said that the creatures are not beautiful at all, despite they look like a man.
One element is the initiation stage where the Little Mermaid travels from the sea to the surface for the first time, “The fifth sister’s birthday occurred in the winter; so when her turn came, she saw what the others had not seen the first time they went up”, (Andersen). Initiation is something humans often go through so this archetypal element blends well with our culture. The color green is also symbolic throughout The Little Mermaid as water, and hope both play intricate roles in the fairy tale. The Little Mermaid starts out her life living within the confines of her father’s castle in the ocean but grows to become much more than a mermaid. She grows to a point where she does not desire a longer existence but to a have a shorter existence and loving relationship with the prince.
Delvaux’s painting consist of a eight nearly identical woman sitting in chairs outside the doorways of grey rowhomes which head down a thin, long road. Towards the background of the painting, the houses are replaced by a lengthy, white wall and the road starts to bend dramatically. At the bend there is a black-hatted man walking away from the viewer and on the other side of the wall there are mermaids. Both the man and the mermaids are miniscule due to the extended perspective of the painting. The Village of The mermaids’ is confusing for many reasons. It has no central subject and uses size and perspective to minimize key figures and symbols that help the viewer form a holistic conclusion about it’s meaning. The Village of the Mermaids’ is not unlike a hydra, for every question answered two arise in its place. The painting has mysterious, eerie sentiment that plays on the viewer’s discomfort with the unknown. The Village of the Mermaids’ uses subtly unconventional geometry and positioning to achieve contradictory symbolism and ultimately a sense of discombobulation, but Mueller’s poetic analysis of the the painting fails to capture the full depth of this state of quiet disarray because people often feel the need to ground surrealist work in reality.
Many believe that Ariel is a bad role model for children, especially young girls who look up to Disney Princesses. Many of these people believe that she changed her body for a man, and that no young girl should be taught to do the same. Many people think that the little mermaid is one of the least feminist princesses created by the Disney company, but unfortunately, these views are incorrect, and have weak supporting evidence. Ariel was anything but an anti-feminist, and actually was an advocate for women’s and mer-people’s rights. The little mermaid is the youngest (only sixteen at the time) in her family. While she may be little, but she made a big impact in her world, and is still making an impact on the world around us today.
Mermaids are legends that have been among us for years; moreover, to understand the legends, one must look at their history, their mystical powers and their distinct descriptions. Mermaids, Mermen, and Merbabys are making more of an appearance in our waters than they ever have. These mystical creatures are swimming back into our world.
There are many fairy tales out there and they all focus in teaching many of the different life lessons. Honestly, I was never the fairy tale reading type just because I really did not read much as a child. There was a couple fairy tales I became familiar with because I have two younger siblings. They really enjoyed watching these two fairy tale’s movies, which were Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. Since these are the only fairy tales that I can say I’m familiar with these will be the ones that I will be discussing further. In these fairy tales, there are two very important lessons to be learned. In Cinderella fairy tale, the lesson to be learned is that even when faced with the worst behavior from other people and the fact that you

It is true, my cat is more popular than I am. It might be due to the constant pictures and videos I post on social media, or the fact that she is just really cute. Her name is Tinkerbell, and she is what matters to me.
