Working from home versus working in the workplace has its advantages. Saving time and money on the commute alone may be a no-brainer for some. However, others may enjoy going into the workplace and being around other people. The work at home employee can choose to wear whatever they want from pajamas to shorts and a t-shirt. Depending upon the position the employee that chose to work in the office may have to conform to a set dress code. The employee that choose to work from home would have more choices over what they want to eat. Most workplaces have vending machines and cafes with limited choices. Each employee that is offered the chance to work from home and makes the choice either to or not to work from home has their reasons. Commuting into the workplace is time consuming, costly and stressful. The estimated travel time in the United States is 25.4 minutes according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The 25.4 minutes is based on the one-way commute leaving it at 50.8 minutes round trip. Another fun fact is that the annual cost of commuting to and from the workplace is $1512.00 per calculator provided by University of California. Commuting can be very stressful and cause road rage and aggressive driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that over a seven-year period, 218 murders and 12,610 injuries were attributed to road rage.
