In the middle of the night I was sound asleep, until I got this weird sensation throughout my mind that made me feel like I was being watched and awoke. When I sat up I noticed an average-looking man standing in the darkness of my bedroom. Frightened, I grabbed my blanket, moved closer to the wall, and followed the man with my wide-open eyes. Eventually, he made his way into my half-open closet door. I ran to turn the light on faster than a wimpy kid who punched the tough guy in school. Unlike most people would, I went straight to the closet door; when I opened the door, I found nothing. It’s easy to assume that I didn’t get too much sleep that night. I am not positive what happened during that mind-puzzling night, but I think the man …show more content…
There are many factors that contribute to the transformation of a spirit: whether or not one did good deeds, the amount of spiritual practice, destiny, death cause, funeral, spiritual rituals, self-esteem, have desires that weren’t fulfilled, negative thoughts, anger, harmed people during lifetime, or doesn’t have spiritual thoughts or practices (What Are Ghosts). Occasionally, the ghost will attach to a person, place or object.
Some ghosts are rather weak and highly dependent on the place or person they are attached to. They are sometimes called earthbound spirits. Some other ghosts have gained so much energy that they can move around and even make objects move with their energy. These are called poltergeists. (What to Do)
Poltergeists are one kind of ghost that one would not enjoy to have in their company. “Very strong poltergeists have a limited ability to slam doors or make objects fall on your head” (What to Do). “They derive pleasure out of exerting control over and tormenting humans and other subtle-bodies” (What Are Ghosts). Ghosts take the energy from their victim’s breath and use the breath to provide the them with energy. Ghosts that had addictions to chemicals, such as addictive drugs and alcohol, will feed off of humans with a similar addiction (Spiritual Compass). Spirits “can feed off of your fear” (Spiritual Compass). “Emotionally they can scare you, but only if you are afraid of them” (What to Do). The fear is what
The Ghost in Hamlet cleared out the event that Hamlet was uncertain of. The spirit clarified the death of King Hamlet, and caused Hamlet to perform his evil deeds. The Ghost’s request to avenge him caused the death of Hamlet’s family, friends, and eventually himself; therefore, the spirit can be viewed as evil because it failed the four tests that was set by Lewes Lavater and the Church.
This shows that people thought it was super entertaining to hear some of these stories of people communicating with the dead. In the article "The Haunted House" by Valerie Worth it talks about some people go in and explore a old, earey haunted house, but they are not scared. I the article it says “Its echoes, Its aching stairs, Its doors gone stiff at the hinges, Remind us of its Owners, who Grew old, who Died, but Who are still Here: learning In the closet like That curtain rod, Sleeping on the cellar Shelf like this empty jelly jar.” (Worth 9). This shows that people there going out of there way to in some way get to interact with ghost, because it entantering to people to be scared. In conclusion, people are addicted to being scared, and hearing these stories of people talking to the dead which simply can not be understudied, or even scientifically
Through out the short novella, 'The Turn of the Screw,' by Henry James, the governess continually has encounters with apparitions that seem to only appear to her. As Miles' behavior in school worsens so that he is prevented from returning, and as Flora becomes ill with a fever, the governess blames these ghosts for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora, and labels them as evil and manipulative forces in their lives. But why is it that these ghosts only seem to appear to the governess even when the children are present at the time of the sightings by the governess? Evidence from the short story leads the reader to believe that the ghosts are not real but are merely the evidence of the fragmenting sanity of the governess.
Many people believe not. Ghosts do not actually exist. They don't make any sense, if you can walk through walls, then why can you pick things up, shouldn't it just slide threw your hand? If a ghost is something that is stuck here after it dies because it needs to finish an important task on earth, then does it go to heaven when its done? If so, can people tell when the ghost is gone and when it has left the earth and finished its task or do people still think its there? in my opinion they are not real, but spirits are, a spirit is something that is just here. After some people die they don't know where to go or what to do. When you die, some people linger while they figure out where to go and what to do. So they stay here, the only reason they can stay is because after you die all the energy leaves your body making you a spirit. Spirits can't walk through walls and, if they could, then why do they open doors. See it does not make any since why walk through a wall when you can just simply open a door. Many spirits don't even know they are dead until they try to come in contact with a living
Ghosts are not there just to haunt, they have a purpose (same goes for other supernatural creatures found in literature)
Dr. Gabor Mate, a Hungarian born Canadian physician, who is also a neurologist, psychiatrist, and psychologist, but who specializes in the study and treatment of addiction, reveals revolutionary evidence pertaining to addiction. In Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, Dr. Mate worked with patients suffering chronic drug addiction for 12 years. With 20 years of experience as a family practitioner, Dr. Mate is a renowned speaker and teacher throughout North America; sharing his extensive knowledge with diverse audiences including health care professionals and educators (Mate, About Dr. Mate, 2016). The Realm of Hungry Ghosts, Dr. Mate’s most recent best-selling book, illuminates the origins and causes of addiction. As Co-founder of Compassion for Addiction (a non-profit organization), Dr. Gabor Mate encourages a greater understanding; “addiction is the attempt of affected human beings to escape a profound discomfort with themselves and their world” (Mate, Compassion4Addiction, 2015). Drawing on cutting-edge science, Dr. Mate presents the world with a shocking discovery: “The source of addiction is not to be found in genes, but in the early childhood environment.” Therefore, Dr. Mate simply “calls for a more compassionate approach toward the addict.” (Mate, 2016) As cutting-edge science concludes addiction to be a mental health issue, rather than criminal behavior, the American legal system demonstrates a devastating disservice to its own society.
A violent spirit is more typically know as a poltergeist and is has been shown in one study that they impact sixty-two percent of teens under eighteen, living away from home. Also, poltergeist activity tends to be person centered, however it can be associated with a house. One such case of it be house centered was the Amityville Horror house. This house had supposedly such bad activity that the owners, sold the house and immediately left. Since then the story of the house was turn in books and even movies. Scientist try to explain poltergeist activity with ground setting, which can cause objects to slide, fall from shelves or walls, appear to be thrown and furniture can even jump. Many things that are associated with ground settling are also report in the supposed poltergeist
There are many mysteries throughout everywhere. They have scared for centuries or maybe only years. Although some become legends. They spook reads. Although it's up to you to believe or call them myths, but some things cannot be explained. No scientists can explain ghosts completely, there is too much evidence and only not enough. Would you believe in ghosts after an encounter? mostly likely. If you believe or not believe something can't be proved so ill let you be the judge if its myth or mystery.
Melancholy, hysteria, and epilepsy are the three most likely causes of weird and abnormal behavior of the possessed.
In other words, when ghosts would confront their loved ones, they would stay on track as to why they were there and would not get distracted from the main reason for their visit. As a result, many humans, especially loved ones, know the real reason the ghost has decided to visit.
"Ghost." What images does this word conjure up in the average American mind? Perhaps you think of little kids draped in white sheets begging for candy on Halloween. Perhaps you imagine transparent versions of dead people wandering the earth for eternity. Perhaps you are reminded of a person who just saw something especially scary; they are "pale as a ghost".
In theory, ghosts are the remnants of what was once a human being. Someone, who at one time, had substance on this earth. They are everything that we, as living creatures, are- but without the vehicle we call the human body. They exhibit all the mental attributes that you and I have such as thought, conscience, emotions and emotional needs, morals, calculation, ego, personality and everything that makes up the human psyche.

There 's that look people get told they have, where they look like they 've seen a ghost. I want to know what it means to have that feeling but knowing you 're the ghost. It had been too long since I stepped foot anywhere near these parts of the city. After I turned and changed into who I am now, I never wanted to risk getting seen by any members of the family that runs this part. That is actually a good reason they have never been able to extend their territory any further. It 's kind of easy to hear when a gang war is about to break out for someone to gain new ground. And for me, it 's all too easy to join the defending family and help kill men you were once friends with to make sure you had the room to run fucking wild. I 'm made a few good friends, nah I made a few bad acquaintances by doing that. The men that run other parts of this city know me by who I am now, only one knows me by who I was. Maybe it 's for the best he knows Big Mac is against him, less likely that it 's me behind the mask then. God, in those days, before I grew up and found out doing everything I was getting told to do, without being told to do them was so much better, Claire not counting, she just above another voice in my head. But the freedom I have, may not seem like a good thing for the city and its people, but I love being me and only this me.
