The book Living with Our Genes: The Groundbreaking Book About the Science of Personality, Behavior and Genetic Destiny starts with The Genetic Roots of Personality in which is states the dictionary definition of personality is, “the sum total of the mental, emotional, social, and physical characteristics of an individual” and that it is in fact personality that determines the way you react to others, the way you communicate, the way you think and express emotions. Experiencing anger can be healthy because it prompts us to make positive changes in our lives and situations but mismanaged anger can be unhealthy because it can lead to poor decision making and problem solving.
Addiction means that you have made a habit of abusing drugs or other addictive substances throughout most of your life. An affect is that your thinking processes are no longer normal in the conventional sense but not everyone has affects because not all people have the same central nervous system. There is a strong human desire to experience altered states of consciousness, to change the brain reactions caused by a genetic impulse. Although physical appearance can be a basis for interpersonal attraction, it is also true that one person will often want to get to know another person because of that person’s personality. Like another’s face or figure, we often find another’s personality appealing or unappealing. Relationships, including marriages, often stand or fall on the basis of the way in which two people react to each other’s personalities. It is believed that intelligence is strongly influenced by the quality of the brain’s axons and that the faster the signaling, the faster the brain processes information. And since the integrity of the brain’s wiring is influenced by genes, the genes we inherit play a far greater role in intelligence.
