Lnc RNA in human diseases
Human lncRNA is versatile and has many cellular functions like alternate splicing, nuclear import, epigenetics, RNA turnover, translation and regulation (Tani, 2017).thus in medical research, lncRNA is achieving importance as their dysregulation is directly associated with diseases like cancer. They act as a precursor of siRNA and has both tumor suppression and oncogenic property. Few of the roles of lncRNA in disease are described below. (Lo, Wolfson, & Zhou, 2016) MIR4435-HG

Recent studies revealed that HOTAIR can control estrogen receptors and chromosome pS2 hTERT, human telomerase reverse transcriptase (Tani, 2017). Hotair is overexpressed in breast tumors, colorectal cancer, and hepatocellular cancer which can be used to predict death and metastasis. (Shi et al., 2013) MALAT or Metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1 or Neat2) MALAT1 well-known lncRNA is often related to cancer metastasis and so it can be used as a marker for prognosis of cancer in early stages of non small cell lung cancer. MALAT was found to colocalize several highly expressed genes. However, they exhibit different binding patterns and have certain cytosolic functions. Serine-arginine (SR) splicing factor phosphorylation and distribution is affected by MALAT1.
