“Oh,” Darlene replied, his meaning not lost. She slipped the card in with her money and lip gloss. She disliked dogs and Daryl’s niece wasn’t going to be the first place she inquired for new work, but it was nice to have a backup option. “Thank you,” she added. Daryl flashed Darlene a brief smile and then set his attention on the half-full parking lot. Darlene looked at the darkening sky and her mind, deciding to drag her to a deeper level of misery, turned to another topic as painful, if not more so, than her getting fired: her ex-boyfriend Logan Ritter. An image of him at this very moment in a black tux and shoes and his unruly hair tamed as best he could get it, standing on Myrtle Beach in front of a crowd of well-wishers flashed before her eyes. …show more content…
Logan was no doubt humming to himself, endlessly going over the song he’d written for his fiance. Even though songwriting had never been Logan’s forte, he had put everything into that song and it had turned out beautiful. Logan had played it for Darlene on the phone not more than twenty hours ago, and despite how much it had killed her to hear something from the man she still loved intended for the woman of his dreams, Darlene had been honest with him about how touching the song was. She’d also assured him that Ashley was going to go crazy over
I'm going over to Tyler's house today. For the secound time, and this time Matteo will be there, well I think so. He does have a boyfriend, plus it's just a stupid little crush.
I pull up and fuck your daughter, sike nah let me stop. I ain't 21 Savage and I ain't Lil Yatchy,
I kept writing. It was hard, but I could get everything off of my chest. I could explain to people what had happened to me. I could tell my English teacher. It was a little hard, but I didn’t cry. I couldn’t cry. Greasers didn’t cry.
Getting to know Sydney made me realize a lot more about life. Going into college I felt agitated because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life, and maybe moving here was a mistake, but Sydney reassured me. Although tomorrow is a mystery, we need to have faith that it’ll bring us exactly what we need. Her story of having a youth full of uncertainty and now having a life of complete sense has given me hope that I will be okay, and to just enjoy today and it’s opportunities.
Forty years is a long time, long enough to deprive a person of any connection to the real world. I mean those cars, machines, children crying… I just couldn’t get used to them. Sometime I feel I’m standing in the eye of hurricane, the noises whipping around me like a gale. It’s a terrible thing to live in fear. All I’m doing is just lying here, smoking, unable to sleep. I look up and see old Brooks’s world from the beam, he gave up. That makes me more scared. He couldn’t cope with the real world, so he decided to release himself totally. Well, I guess I have become institutionalized like Brooks as, I can’t feel
Face pale with terror, Adam's shaky hand moved to switch on the bedside lamp. Images of Fire and Brimstone, and writhing figures, - men, women and children all - screaming in pain as flames consumed their bodies, flowed through his mind. Eyeballs exploded, and liquefied flesh oozed into fiery lava pits, leaving nothing but a collapsed pile of charred bones on the ground before moments later the victim's human form was resurrected in its entirety, and subjected to the same agonising fate again. Over and over, ad infinitum.
Ross instantly sung the exact words to the song, almost identical to the singer's. "Not to hard to see that a Cali girl is what I need." A tint of pink flowered my cheeks. He's not singing about you or to you, he's singing at you prove a point. I shook myself out of it.
Daniella Owusuwaah Ashley Dunn THE 191: Section K 28, April 2015 Avenue Q: Sesame Street Meets South Park Avenue Q is a laugh-out-loud, fast moving musical that is an adult version of Sesame Street that address racism, pornography, homophobia, and the parable of finding one’s purpose in life through satirical songs. On Friday, April 17, I saw Miami’s production of Avenue Q directed by Ms. Saffron Henke at the Gates-Abegglen Theatre. This unique show uses puppets as a shield to explore issues that are often hard and sensitive to talk about; it’s easy to talk about racism when it’s through a puppet. I believe that the goal of Miami’s production of Avenue Q was to present and educated to the community and the students about issues such as
This song was viewed as more of a sweet love song with lyrics “Would she ever doubt the way I feel about her in my heart If tomorrow never comes, Will she know how much I loved her” (GARTH BROOKS LYRICS). Brooks said he had the idea for the song and many were not getting it till he meet with Kent Blazy who would have the verse written out in fifteen seconds (Hostelley). The song was not only a chart topper by Brooks, it would go onto to be named Favorite Country Single in the American Music Awards of 1991 even though it was a number on hit back in 1989 (List of awards and nominations received by Garth Brooks). The song was also popular among artist across the world to be a cover song. With Ronan Keating, taking it to number one on the UK Singles Chart in May 2002 (Bing Search

She kept on thinking. I wonder how things will turn out? She felt nervous and anxious for school today, like she did everyday.
The rain had just stopped pouring, and we had all gathered in a park nearby, as a makeshift memorial for Johnny. It wasn’t really a funeral, we didn’t have the budget for that, and it wasn’t like his parents cared enough to give him a proper goodbye.
Although the song “Overwhelmed” wasn’t Tim McMorris’ first song he had written about the girl he loved, this was the first song he really loved. This was Tim’s way of interpreting his strong appreciation and love for the person who overwhelms him with love and joy. It helps bring to focus what’s really important to him. He is expressing his love through music and it helps others to convey their feelings for the special someone in their life. For example, in his song he says, “I delight myself in you, captivated by your beauty.
Instead of transitioning into a typical second verse, Presley acts as a poet and defies the common structure by talking instead of singing. He introduces an enthralling comparison and a new idea: Presley describes the world as a giant stage in which every person plays a role.“You know someone said the world’s a stage, and each must play a part. Fate had me playing in love with you as my sweetheart.” These lyrics also touch on the themes of love and loneliness. The idea that love is a play with each phase of a relationship representing each act captivates me. “Act one is when we met, I loved you at first glance. You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue. Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange.” A person going to see a play for the first time is oblivious to the outcome of the story. Presley suggests that these same terms apply to romantic relationships. We go into love blindly in hopes of keeping the one we love forever, but we have no knowledge of the uncertain future. Presley successfully conveyed this
Logan Domingue is 14-year old boy who showed me to not judge a person by the way they look and to stay positive. Logan has taught me to not judge people by appearance by showing me that people aren’t always what they look like. Also that I shouldn’t take the world to serious for it will try to be harsh. He also tries to stay as positive as possible. Logan has changed my view on the world by don’t judge a person by appearance, don’t take the world to serious, and to stay as positive as possible.
