What is loneliness? Loneliness is when someone is sad because they don’t have any friends or company. In Of Mice and Men there is quite a bit of loneliness that goes on with quite a few of the characters. George, Crooks, and Curley’s wife all experience loneliness at one point in time, some of them more than others. George is lonely because he hangs out with Lennie and travels constantly. George doesn’t have any family to go to to keep him company. He also travels to different places all the time because Lennie gets in trouble and they have to move somewhere else. At one point George said “Guys like us, are the loneliest guys in the world.”. He says this to explain that he is lonely. George is lonely because he is always traveling
