Sprinters and long distance runners have a bunch of diference's, but also have a few things in common. Each have their own kind of excercise's or stretches they need to do before they start, even so they still have a few things in common. They also have their own types of strategy's they do for different races. Sprinters, for what I know have to run faster than long distance runners, for they have a shorter amount of track they need to cover and also in a quicker amount of time. Sprinters usually have to get a good start, so one thing they mostly practice on is how to get a good start off …show more content…
Now for long distance runners they mostly worry about how much distance they have to cover, and how to stay at a constant speed. Long distance runners train more on staying at a constant speed, but do not sprint for they would get tired quicker. Even though long distance runners don't sprint very often, some do at the very end of the race just depending on what their strategy is. Long distance runners do worry about their start off, not as much as the sprinters do, for they have more time to work their way up through out the race, but still worry for they could be in the lead and stay their throughout the race. Long distance runners also work how many miles they do and also use a stop watch to determine how much time they take and if the are increasing or decreasing from their previous times. Long distance runners and sprinters don't usually have a bunch in common but will do some stretches the same, for they both still have to run. They usually stretch out their arms and legs correctly, if they don't they could get
When asked why don’t they do the same workouts, he said, “You guys are different runners, he might need to work on the speed aspect of running, while you already have that part down. You might need to work on the form aspect of running, and he has that down. So why would you guys be doing the same workout, when it would only benefit one of you” (Washington). Not only does a coach prepare athletes body but also their minds. A coach prepares the athletes mind by getting them to think about what they are going to be doing before there event comes up. If one were to look at Maurice Green before a race, one would notice that he is very concentrated and thinking about what he needs to do to win. Another example of that would be football or basketball players. Before the game, each athlete has his or her own ritual before game time. That concentration is called "getting in the zone." "What I do know is how to get you in the best shape of your life so that you'll be stronger and more explosive than you've ever been. I can also help you prepare your mind for competition" (Connolly 14).
When the race begins the runners all begin by running at a pace that is comfortable for them. Runners need to try and to start as close to the front as possible. After the first mile, all the runners will begin to spread out. That’s when the hard part starts. Runners now will begin to speed up and begin passing as many runners as they can, but at the same time they can't let anyone pass them. Usually when your about to pass someone they will
Whilst 400m isn’t regarded as a long distance race, it requires a much similar approach, as most athletes choose to go hard in the first 100m, maintain and build up the pace during the middle 200m and use whatever is left in the tank to drive it home in the final
Track is a sport consisting of numerous competitive events for people to select from; there is one for everyone. For instance, hurdles is an event that has multiple different distances one can choose from ranging from sprints to distance. If running and jumping is a talent that is possessed, long jump is a great event. Relays are another event, where one group competes with other groups at long and short distance sprinting. Normally, relay teams consist of four man/women group and each individual runs one hundred meters or four-hundred meters. Also, if long-distance running is a dream that is held, along with enjoy running. There is an area for that consisting of one mile and two mile race distances. For those,
Track will increase speed, endurance, and agility. Speed, agility, and endurance are used in baseball, football, and basketball. All these sports are jointed together with track for cardio. I’m not for all the running and training that is included in becoming an outstanding athlete, but I pushed myself into going through the training.
One day at practice, we had to run sprints around the track. Slow jog for half the track at a slow cadence just like you see the military do as part of their training. Then sprint as fast as you can for the next half of the track. Then back to a slow jog and by the time we were done Marcy would be a full length behind the slowest runner.
Football and track has many differences having it being sports. It’s diversity in events and the way it’s played make these sports distinct. The players have different physiques and the sport has its popularity difference as well. Any sport played will make you physically and mentally exerted and played for enjoyment for yourself and
Many sprinters are also introduced to long jumping. Long jumping is an event where athletes combine their
These runners run just for fun or to pass the time between meet days. These runners live for meet days and it by far is their favorite day of the week. The rest of their week they spend preparing for this day. They usually run about five miles every practice, but never more than 10. They try to weight train and carbo load on the days leading up to meet day, but their intense desire to eat everything in their path usually ends up defeating the plan. They are team players and need others to help them keep going. They take many aspects of what the team does very seriously and lose all ambition when having to anything by themselves. The Average Runner is commonly surrounded by others of their kind being that 90% of their friend group consists of other runners and most of them are on the same team or running group as they are. They consider the act of running to be one of their hobbies and only participate in the physical movement when they are in the right mood, either bored or extremely bored, or when they are at practice. The Average Runner does not own much for gear besides their immense collection of meet shirts. These runners are easily identifiable in the average social setting, they can usually be found wearing a pair of sweatpants, one of their numerous meet shirts and a cheap set of brightly colored running
There are six different track events. Track events vary from sprints, middle distance, long distance, relays, as well as walks. Sprints require the usage of the starting blocks. The starting blocks are head starts to give each runner a fair start and they’ve been used since 1937. Sprints are run as far as 800m, and only 500m are run in lanes. Sprints, hurdles, and
The track events are held on the perimeter of the track and field stadium and the tracks, are 1.22 meters wide. These track events are categorized by running at a specific distance, relay events, and running with obstacles. The different track events are, Long Distance, Middle Distance, Sprints, Relay Races, Hurdles ,Steeplechase, Indoor Track and Field and Outdoor Track and Field. The Long Distance events include the 3000m race, the 5000m race, and the 10,000m running events. The Middle Distance events include running at the distance of 800m, 1500m, as well as 3000m. Sprinting events include the running events of 100m, 200m, and 400m. When running in a Relay Race, there are 4 contestants of the same team. The contestants runs 100m each and passes a baton at the end of each 100m. At the end of the Relay Race, the team has ran 400m
In this test I will sprint over a certain distance, and my time will be recorded. After I have warmed up, I will do the test over a certain distance e.g. 10, 20, 40 or 50 meters, depending on the sport and what I am trying to measure. The starting position should be clearly marked, starting from a stand still position with one foot behind the starting line. If you have the equipment (e.g. timing gates), you can measure the time to run each split distances e.g. 5, 10, 20m during the same run. Part of the races is being able to run that long for that fast. The runners need to know how to breath right and right angles and if the change the distance it will give an advantage to the shorter people and a disadvantage to the taller.usain bolt is the fastest runner known in the world, if we were to change the rules he would come almost in last place.i think that usain bolt is the fastest because he know how to cope with how tall he is and he know the right breathing patterns that work for him and i think that's why he wins. Don't think about the start of the race, think about winning and finishing it-usain
What determines the fastest runner? Does a shorter or longer distance change the runner’s speed? Can a distant runner run faster than a short distance runner? Explain.
Before when I compared the ratios of this runner, I found that this runner will be a sprinter, but this player is in the second standard deviation for the long distance runner and they are in the seventh standard deviation for the sprinter. This runner 's biceps are smaller for a sprinter because they are in the first standard deviation for a long distance runner and they are in the third for a sprinter. Also, this runner has smaller quads for a sprinter because they are in the third standard deviation for a distance runner and in the fourth for a sprinter. So, basically this runner can be a sprinter because they have the same ratios of a sprinter and plus if this runner goes to training and develops muscles then could possibly come closer to the sprinters standard
