There are many damaging effects on the victim when it comes to cyber bullying. As a result,the effects of cyber bullying can last a lifetime also the children who are bullied can feel inadequate. The long term effects on the victim could lead them to eventually commit suicide. Suicide is a devastating event that is a result of bullying called bullycide. Approximately every 13 minutes a teen commits suicide in the US from Jill Carson a teacher at Foley Public Schools.
About 97% of today’s youth are connected to the internet in some way, and about 20-40% have experienced some form of cyberbullying at least once.1 This means that about 200-400 million people between the age of 15 and 24 have been cyberbullied. Cyberbullying has been an issue since the internet was first introduced for public use, and it is still a rising issue today. That is why it is our job to fix it.
It is known that face to face bullying can cause long term psychological harm to victims, including anger, depression, poor self-esteem, violence, or even suicide. Victims of face to face bullying fear going to school and come in contact with alienation, humiliation, and insecurity. Cyberbullying

It can cause individuals to suppress negative emotions within them. Lowering their self-esteem and looking at life with a sense of hopelessness. They are also scared to tell people because they will feel powerless or weak. Over a span of time, the victim feels so down about themselves and feel they deserve to be bullied. One major negative effect of bullying is low performance in school. They feel no motivation for anything, and school is probably the last thing they are worried about. They will most likely to skip school or fail tests. Another major effect of bullying is depression. Sleeping patterns will change and sadness will increase. You will notice the change in motivation to do activities with friends or play sports. In most extreme cases, self-harm is a result. In fact suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds and at least 90% of teens who kill themselves have some type of mental problem. A student is being or victimized when he or she is exposed negative action on the part of one or more student. Victims of cyberbullying are twice as likely to attempt suicide than those who haven’t experienced cyberbullying. Each year, approximately 4,500 teenagers commit suicide due cyberbullying and bullying. Self-harm is also common to victims of cyberbullying; the amount of teenagers who commit suicide and self-harm due to bullying rise along with the usage of social media.
Bullying is a serious problem that should not be ignored. Bullied children are known to be more likely to have anxiety, depression, and thoughts of suicide. Bullies often seek victims who seem unable to defend themselves. Targets may also suffer long-term consequences of persistent bullying. Many researchers have indicated that bullies have antisocial tendencies.
Bullying and in its many various ways effects everyone in a lot of ways. A lot of the people are being humiliated and hurt. Victims of bullying commit suicide because people that are being bullied think bullying will not stop. Social media is such a big part of people's lives today therefore that is most likely the reason why students say it is easier to bullying online than in school. Cyber bullying can lead to many things such as emotional trauma. This trauma can lead to many things such as depression, insecurities, and doubt and nobody wants to go through this. This may even cause a person to take their own life therefore putting the person harassing them at fault. So if this teasing and bullying online leads to suicide, the person responsible should be held responsible and be prosecuted.
Many negative effects are outcomes of cyber bullies. The impact cyber bullying has on kids is detrimental. Victims can develop psychological problems. For example, victims begin having anxiety, lower self-esteem, and frustration. They may also be diagnosed with depression. It’s tough to ignore cyber bullying. Compared to school bullies, internet bullies cause their victim more emotional pain. Children and teenagers are able to escape school bullies when they return home. However targets of cyber bullying don’t have that advantage.
First, cyberbullying can be devastating and long lasting because of how that person might take all the actions the bullies are doing to them. Research has shown that cyberbullying can have multiple people ganging up on one person, that same research has claims that there is about 10% of kids in certain areas that have said they have been cyberbullied. Cyberbullying can cause people to take their lives because of some of things that people have done to them or said about them on the internet when everybody can see it.
