Looking Toward the Future
As we look forward to our future, one cannot help but start to plan ahead on the road to success. Even though the path may seem unclear, it is certain that there will be many challenges to overcome. In this essay, I will discuss three goals I have set for my future. The three goals will consist of one personal, one professional, and one academic goal in the online environment. In addition to the three goals, I will discuss the SMART goal process while explaining each goal. My degree is in Human Resource Management because of my excellent social and conventional skills. To achieve this goal would mean a great deal to me considering the adversity I 've had to overcome to get here. In 2007, I dropped out of college due to personal reasons and was not able to return until recently. I 'm so proud just to have gotten to this point alone. SMART Goal: By March 19, 2016, apply knowledge gained from classes following the course guidelines and process so that I can earn my bachelor 's degree to help improve my career in the future.
Specific - apply knowledge (what), follow guidelines (how), earn degree (why)
Measureable - the goal will be reached by passing classes up until March 19th, 2016
Achievable - challenged by earning a degree and passing hard courses in the process
Results-focused - forcing outcomes "improve my career"
Time-bound - Setting a time frame, completing my degree on the anticipated graduation date of March 19th, 2016
In order to be successful, one must hold themselves accountable as each milestone is completed in the goals they have set. There is no doubt that obstacles will present themselves along the way whether it be in the form of personal matters (finances, relationship, etc.) or professional matters (lack of work, no opportunity for growth).
