Los Banos Unified School District
The Los Banos Unified School District enrolls about 11000 students in Kindergarten through the 12th grade. The School District supports nine elementary schools, two junior highs, two high schools and one alternative high school. The School District is led by seven members of the Board or education. The School district employs five hundred and seventy-five certificated employees and four hundred and twenty-five classified employees. The schools are all currently full, with many residential divisions currently being built in Los Banos. He was once a teacher at the high school and resigned quickly when allegations of sexual misconduct were made. He eventually ran and won for mayor. About 20 years ago, a police officer stopped him and found drugs in his car. He was arrested but blamed it on himself giving juveniles rides and that they left it in the car. The case was dismissed and he return to work as mayor. Eventually he was voted out of term and decided to run for the school board. After serving several terms on the school board, he got into trouble with the contractor and bribery charges. He refused to step down from his position even after the arrest, claiming innocence. He eventually was voted out of his position. “Interestingly, research suggests that power not only leads to people to focus on their self-interests because they can, but it also liberates people to focus inward and thus come to place greater weight on their goals and interests.” (Judge, 2016, p. 218) Only for the purposes of this paper, I mention his race. He was an African American male. He claimed that the charges and his removal was racially-based. At this time, the school district had a vacancy for superintendent. Coincidentally, they hired the first African-American male to be there superintendent. Many people believe the school district was trying to show that they are not
Los Cenzontles is a band, a nonprofit organization, a music academy, a community space for youth and families as well as a hub for Latino artists. The group works together to amplify Mexican roots in the Bay Area and beyond. Los Cenzontles produces original music, videos, and educational tools. They also teach classes in traditional Mexican music, dance, and arts and crafts. The group operates Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center in San Pablo, California. Dr. Lopez and Dr. Morrison were able to bring this band to Sonoma State University Weill Hall, especially for our CALS 165 class.

The point of Cabrillo’s exploration was to find treasures on the California coasts and to claim land for the Spanish Government. Thesis: Cabrillo accomplished three things; discovering San Diego bay, mapping the coasts of California, and claiming land for Spain.
At the Día De Los Muertos event there were many people especially Hispanic families. Across the event, there was a museum that had arts of people dressed at Aztecs, Día De Los Muertos skeletons, a big altar, and painted skulls. The museum was not big, but showed some historical moments of the Día De Los Muertos. They also showed the culture being alive. Inside the event there were also quite a lot of volunteers that seemed to be from the high school that was hosting the event. Furthermore, we managed to see ABC7 news at the event which surprised us. We saw them interview some people from the event. The volunteers on the other hand, were either helping people sell food, paint people’s face, or ask people if they want to donate some change. They

Urban legends are still told today because some people believe in certain legends, or want to scare others. One legend that is part of the Hispanic culture and is still told today is La Llorona/ The Weeping Woman.

Our culture is very unique in its own way. Our culture is the “Canos”, which is short for volcanoes. They used to live in a spacecraft that crashed on the island they reside on now. The canos live on a tropical island in the middle of the ocean and they live inside an active volcano. They only speak spanglish, which is english and spanish put together. Every person in this culture can only grow up to four feet. Most of them average about 3’6 inches in height, and have a lifespan of up to ten years. Their skin is made of tiny lava rocks and they have orange eyes. Just like any other culture this one has rules and regulations, such as sneezing. If you sneeze that is shunned. Rio was founded in 1565 and is now 651 years old. The climate for Gotas de Lluvia is warm, around 40 degrees Celsius. It can get pretty wet around December and January. Some natural features of Gotas de Lluvia are rivers, rainforest, mountains, and coastline. The economy is slightly poor, but growing. The tourism for Gotas De Lluvia will be big businesses and industries.
