The most interesting detail that I observed throughout the documentary was the way of John Smith was thinking during emergency moments. John Smith was able to manage to escape the fight with the Native Americans by showing them a simple compass and making them distracted by it. Also, John Smith discovered a new style of trading, which is called “silent trade”. Being a true leader, he managed to trade with the Native Americans for food, in order for him and his settlers to stay alive. Since most of the settlers were gentlemen, they were not able to work with their hands, therefore, they had no food and limited access to their needs.
People who undergo an upsetting situation due to their health, tend to find other things such as hobbies to take their mind off of what they can’t control. This need for distraction is present in Rosalind Warren in “Furniture Fight”, In which Linda has terminal cancer and focuses on furniture and is able to change and redesign the way she wants, because that takes her mind off of how weak she is and how she can’t do anything about it. To that effect, the story suggests that when people are suffering from deeper problems they often distract themselves with smaller issues they can control. This sad reality is shown by the father who deals with the death of his first and soon to be second dead wife by showing interests in their hobbies as well as Linda’s irrational obsession with furniture.
Multitasking, helpful or harmful? In Alina Tugend’s “Multitasking Can Make You Lose…Um…Focus”, Tugend explores multitasking in several ways. Explaining how we as humans sacrifice focus “shifting focus from task to task gives illusion that we’re simultaneously tasking”. Also, how our brains react to operating and trying to do more than one task at once. Only one or two visual stimulants can activate our neurons at one particular time. Lastly, how we can recreate boundaries and cope with everyday life and multitasking. Tugend reiterates several times the importance of one task at a time so we as humans can effectively complete tasks to the best of our abilities instead of giving partial focus and not efficiently completely a task. Multitasking is very beneficial at times, but more often there are significant downfalls; it is crucial we learn how to manage the downfalls of juggling tasks, events, conversations, and daily events.
Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Determine never to be idle… If is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.” I believe that always doing accomplishes more than doing nothing. The reasons I believe this is because actions always produce results. Also, you will always make progress no matter what you are doing. If we always accomplish by doing, then what can be accomplished if you do nothing? You can’t achieve any sort of goal if you do nothing; therefore, I agree with Thomas Jefferson.

Geoffrey Chaucer depicts the knight correctly by characterizing him as a chivalrous and honorable man, which contrasted him from the rest who had bad behaviors and that he was a heroic figure.
