Background of the Study Cosmetics are used for beautification. Cosmetics are substances used to enhance the appearance or odor of human body. Many cosmetic ingredients are selected from nature itself, that is, they are taken from something found in our environment. They are known as organic substances. Organic substances are or have been a part of a life process, hence they contain carbon they may be produced from living matter such as vegetable oils or can be extracted from matter that has lived such as paraffin or petrolatum.
