The novel Hole in my life is an autobiography by Jack Gantos where we get to know him and his past deeply. In the novel Jack Gantos mentions a quote by Oscar Wilde: I have learned this: it is not what one has done that is wrong, but what one becomes as a consequence of it. Jack Gantos identified with this quote, because of his experience doing something wrong and becoming a convict because of it. Jack Gantos felt remorse for what he had done, but at what point did he feel it and why didn’t he feel it before.
Louis Zamperini’s life, he had some difficulties, and may be different from others, but he still had made through all of the difficulties he’ve been through. For him he made it through with a blink of an eye, well at least that’s how it showed the readers. Louie was different from other kids. He would drink beer and smoke at a young age. He then grew little by little becoming a runner. He was the best runner people have ever seen in forever. He was best known for that, he went to the Olympics, but it got canceled because of war, their war against Japan. His two character traits that stood out the most was being strong and fearless. This story is based on real life, and on a book called Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.
Courage means to go out of your way to face your fears. The book Jasper Jones displays many examples of courage throughout the book. The book Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey is a book about a mystery. The main Charlie is awaken by the knock of Jasper Jones on his window, later that night they find something that shocks them both. They have found a girl by the name of Laura Wishart hanging from a tree near where they usually hang out.
Have you ever had the courage to stand up among the others? I have chosen two characters from two different books that have represented courage in a great way. The first character is Jonas. Jonas is from the book called The Giver. The Giver is about a twelve year-old having a bunch of pressure on his shoulders by holding all the unneeded and unwanted memories. The second book is known as Fahrenheit 451. This book is about how firefighters are basically in an alternate universe: They start fires instead of stopping them. They start fires but only to burn books. Montag (Main character) does his job with a passion. That is until he actually starts reading them. He then starts to think that he should bring them back into the world. These are the two characters I will be using in my example.
The Most Dangerous Game Quotation Analysis The quote " Character is what you are in the dark." by Dwight Lyman Moody can have several different interpretations. The interpretation that makes the most sense with this quote is a person's true character comes out when they are alone. This interpretation and quote dose not apply to Rainsford in the story "The Most Dangerous Game" - Richard Connell. In the short "The Most Dangerous Game" written by Richard Connell the main character ,Rainsford, uses his courage, hunting skills, and determination to survive.
“Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by the reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future,” (Maria Montessori). Steve Harmon, from the young adult drama book Monster, is a young boy who is sent to jail and put on trial. Steve Harmon is put in trial since he was accused of causing a murder with 3 other men. The quote relates to Steve’s trial because Steve is just a child who is innocent but is misunderstood. “Children are human beings to whom respect is due” relates to this book because Steve Harmon doesn’t get much respect due to his physical qualities. He’s always being stereotyped and he hates the names that people are calling him because they don’t show his moral. “Superior to us by the reason of their innocence” means that children don’t know much about the real world which shows that they don’t know enough to do a crime. Steve doesn’t know how to do anything illegal and wouldn’t do any crime if he knew how to
"He became not a man but a member. He felt that something of which he was a part -a regiment, an army, a cause, or a country -was in a crisis. He was welded into a common personality which was dominated by a single desire." (Crane ) The Red Badge of Courage is written by Stephen Crane. It takes place during the Civil War. Some readers think Henry is a Coward while other think he is a hero. Henry shows heroic traits when he ends up fighting, grabs the flag, and stays with the army.

means. And Hammett shows these intentions throughout the story. People who lies, People who kills, People who cheats, and People who deceives others for something thats worth nothing for the sake of an illusionary wealth the falcon carried.
Joe Louis was a Black American professional boxer who helped bring together White and Black Americans during the Great Depression. White and Black Americans were segregated during that time which resulted in hostility and hatred toward the other race. Rumours would be made about the other race and a race could be thought of as superior to another. Joe Louis gained respect by many of different races for winning the heavyweight world championship in 1937, and continuing to hold it until 1949. Joe Louis served as a hero for blacks in the South because he was able to prove that Black Americans were just as good as White Americans. The reason Joe Louis became accepted by White Americans during that time was because he showed class and was patriotic
This monologue of Lady Macbeth, which takes place in Act 5, Scene 1, (the events leading up to her suicide.) Lady Macbeth while sleep walking and speaking to herself, reveals the guilt and remorse she has over the murder of King Duncan. The ideologies foregrounded are that power must be taken at all costs, and the resistance to the ideology of femininity. The discourses lady Macbeth operates under were those of power, femininity and morality. The following text is an alternate reading.
A theme that is strongly presented in the two texts, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, and “The Book Thief,” by Markus Zusak, is courage. But what exactly is the definition of courage? The dictionary’s definition is: the ability to do something that frightens one; bravery. The two texts above explore similar examples of courage and unveil that courage isn’t always standing up to your fears. In “To Kill a Mockingbird,” the Great Depression impacts all countries both rich and poor, the Finch family is reasonably well off in comparison to the rest of the society as Atticus, the father of the Finch family, is a hardworking and successful lawyer. The family experience
The war was finally over. For months and years, battles had raged across our kingdom. They had ravaged the land, destroying homes and villages. People went hungry as fires devoured any crops that the enemy might be able to access. Fires still burned all across the kingdom, smouldering, but not yet extinguished. Some days, it seemed the sky itself was afire. People had to run from their homes, men hurried to join the fighting, and families were broken apart. Some had thought that the war would never end. Hopes were dashed as battles were fought with no clear victor. There was no reason to plant crops, to raise a family, or to hope. The war had taken almost everything we had.

This quote was chosen because Stanley says that he took the seed but really he was just covering to make friends. Another example is when he tries to find Zero and attempts to steal Mr.Sir’s truck. In the moment he gets caught he realized that it was his fault that he got caught and not his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great- grandfather’s curse that had been set on the family.
