Lowering the drinking age to 18 would make a lot of sense in the world. Lowering the drinking age to 18 would make more sense. It would be better for the teens that drink on college campus. The drinking age should be lowered to 18 because you can vote at eighteen, buy tobacco, it’ll reduce the thrill of breaking the law, evidence supports that early introduction of drinking is the safest way to reduce juvenile alcohol abuse, and college people that are not 21 drink also.

I believe that the drinking age should be lowered to the age of 18. I took this stance in my health class debate last year and it was a success. There are many reasons why the drinking age should be lowered that I will discuss in this paper. These reasons are very convincing and should be considered by the government. I will also look into what action is being taken on decreasing the yearly amount of DUI’s.

If anything, the age limit encourages binge drinking. Lowering the drinking age could make it easier to regulate consumption among younger adults as well as encourage healthy drinking habits” (Aguirre). Sure enough, if the drinking age were lowered to 18 it would avoid the illegal, abused intake of alcohol by 18 year olds. The United States needs a new standard drinking age, and it should be 19. The age should be 19 so that 18 year olds in high school cannot obtain alcohol, there by allowing younger high schoolers easier access. As an 18 year old that has adult responsibilities, I should be able to make my own, adult, choices about drinking alcohol. I’m an adult, college student who participates in underage drinking. In my experiences, I have never been involved with law enforcement, and drinking alcohol has never affected my personal, professional, or academic life. I have always had the opinion of having a lowered drinking age and have read many articles about the pros, cons, and everything in between. After reading this, I believe you will at least rethink your stance on the minimum drinking age.

A major debate that has been going on for generations is the drinking age. Most people think that this law should be lowered back down to 18, while others believe that it is fine where it is at. Alcohol is something that will always be around because it is seen as something we should enjoy and consume moderately. It becomes an issue when we consume it excessively, and I think this is a huge contribution to the reason why our drinking age is 21 and not 18.
