Luigi Tomassi was born and raised in a small town in Italy. He married in at 25 in March, 1960, to my now grandmother. By June he immigrated to New York for a better life in America. In doing this, he left his wife behind because of a lack of money. He also knew no English at this time, and the only people he knew there were his uncle and brother. To earn money, he became a carpenter, utilizing his most profitable skills. He also did “odd jobs” on the side. By December of the same year he had saved enough, and his wife came to live with him. Eventually Tomassi and his wife began raising their family in a town called Bedford Hills. By the time their children were in elementary school, Tomassi began taking English classes. Every evening the

As a fashion obsessor, I love to read about different designers and learn things I never knew about or discover a new designer i’ve never heard of. Recently I’ve discovered Paolo Sebastian, an Australian designer who learned how to sew from his grandmother when he was very young. His designs grab fashion lovers’ attention at first glance. His attention to detail is magnificent and each collection of his tells a beautiful story. My personal favorite was his 15/16 SS couture collection because of the way the pieces all come together without being too alike. Paolo Sebastian’s work is art that deserves more recognition.
For the first time on the crowded street of the Italian business capital appeared what until now is considered one of the most relevant newspaper of the country: “Il corriere della Sera”.

Francesco Borromini is the most quintessential Baroque architect of all time. Though he was born in Canton Ticino in the Alps, he came to Rome early and remained for the rest of his life. He was suspicious and dedicated, evident in that he carefully supervised his designs from models, to drawings, and even to the completed structure. His works, such as the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane and the church of Sant’Agnese in Agone, still stand today and continue to show his amazing skill and expertise, and they still show his unrelenting pursuit of perfection.
Lourenço Mutarelli is a comic artist with a long and consecrated career in the Brazilian publishing market and, in more recent times, has been dedicating his talent to traditional literature, with equal or even greater success than his production within the so-called sequential art. His books draw attention not only to his quality as a text but also to the original way he produces them. Many of his works have been both public and critical success, and some have adapted versions for the movies, as in the case of the film O Cheiro do Ralo, an adaptation of the eponymous book that has been quite successful. In this way, Mutarelli can be considered as one of the most important and influential national writers of the recent years.
Filippo Sensi: Matteo Renzi’s shadow powerbroker ROME – Italy's prime minister, Matteo Renzi, affectionately calls the man behind his communications strategy ‘Nomfup’- a nickname formed from the phrase ‘not my fucking problem’. Nomfup, a 48-year old Roman named Filippo Sensi, coined his own moniker more than six years ago, using the catchphrase of fictional spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker from the BBC comedy ‘In The Thick of It’. Foul-mouthed and aggressive, Tucker is a thinly-veiled caricature of Tony Blair’s legendary spin-doctor Alastair Campbell. But in spite of his nickname, Sensi denies being ‘the Campbell to Renzi’s Blair’, describing himself via e-mail as a “humble press aide” who is “too shy to do an interview.”

Nicolo Paganini was born in Genoa, Italy in 1782. Before the age of six, his father taught him to play the violin, and by the year 1790, Paganini was performing and had composed his first sonata. Unlike many musicians, Paganini is remembered for his performance, as well as for writing most of his music for his own performances. Known for using combinations of pizzicato and harmonics, his technically advanced works are still considered difficult, and was even rumored that he entered into a pack with the devil. One example is Fantasia on the G string, which is to be performed solely on the G-string.
This Weekend I attended a youth conference at the beach. As a dog follows a bone so do teenagers follow the music, we listened to a song called Paganini by Andy Mineo. I turned to the person beside me and asked, “what’s a Paganini” and even though we were all dancing to the music none of us had a clue who or what Paganini was or is. In the end we googled him to find out that he was, in reality, a musician and a composer from the classical and Romantic era.
With Volta having successfully disproved the animal electricity theory, Galvani focused his attention on how electricity could be used to cure diseases. He was specifically interested in using electricity to cure paralysis. Electricity had previously been successfully applied, by the Bolognese physiologist Giuseppe Veratti, to curing both paralysis and arthritis (Montillo 4). Unfortunately, Luigi Galvani died before he was able to experiment further with the idea of a reliable cure for paralysis (Luigi n.pag). Galvani’s nephew, Giovanni Aldini, who was an avid supporter of his uncle’s experiments, continued experimenting with galvanism after his uncle’s death. Aldini believed that galvanism could be used to cure melancholy madness. In 1801,
