After taking this summer class I learned a lot on how to help me improve at Luther college. Even though the NHCC professor was not the best professor I learned to still ask for help and her advice even though it wasn’t the best. Before the first test in this summer I asked the SASC department for advice for note taking and test taking. They listed a few websites and I looked at them. I used their suggestions when taking notes from my textbook. I also used outside sources for help, Kjresten helped me make note cards and practice taking tests. Her notecards helped and showed me a way to make a game out of a picture chart that I will be seeing in other classes at Luther. Now, I can use that technique to help study the graphs. To continue the success
One of the interesting facts about these videos to me is that University of Phoenix produced and used challenge coin without the approval from the military just to trick veterans to believe that Department of Defense has looked and examined that organization and authorized them in some way to provide them with the
We would like to congratulate your office on the first successful year of operating and maintaining Ryerson’s Student Learning Centre. When the announcement was made that Ryerson would be adding this state of the art facility to our campus we as students were ecstatic to experience a learning space which was truly unique. Although the Student Learning Centre has been extremely beneficial to all students Ryerson Students this far, we believe the space has not been used to its full potential.
When a person is on the verge of failing a course, if they catch the failing grade fast enough, there are many things they can change to reach success in the course. The things they make different may have been their downfall to begin with. They could have never studied. While it is great to take good notes in class, what good are the notes if they are never practically used? Another part of studying is to look at the textbook outside of a classroom setting, and in college the student must buy the books don’t let them go to waste. To study properly
Upon visiting the campus, the sprawling Green lawns and Gothic- style Architecture captivated me. I felt suddenly at home. The close-knit community, wonderful Scottie sisters, and the great town of Decatur made the college much more inviting. I chose to apply to Agnes Scott because of the rigorous academics, the exciting Study Abroad activities both domestic and international, and the extremely dedicated professors who truly value you and your education. Agnes Scott is full of strong, female leaders who show empowerment and a community of unity. I truly believe that Agnes Scott is a college that will change my
My desire was to challenge myself and pursue my belief in life-long learning. And yes, the last eight weeks have definitely been a challenge intellectually in IDS 101. After the first two weeks of school, I seriously questioned why I would go back to school at fifty-one years of age for personal satisfaction. The days were long and I wasn’t sure I still had the self-discipline and determination that would be needed to finish. Over the last eight weeks, this class gave me numerous opportunities to hone my skills in critical thinking, research, and writing. This class has given me the necessary skills to continue toward completing my degree.
Growing up in South Carolina, there is a lot heard about the Clemson Tigers and the South Carolina Gamecocks. The biggest college football rivalry of the State. There are commercials, billboards, and flyers that advertise the big game every year. The amount of people that show up to the game is incredible. Thousands of people go to watch these college players duke it out to prove that their college is better than the other. The event brings in thousands of dollars, yet what most do not understand is that the same athletes who are bringing in the money aren’t getting paid to do their jobs. South Carolina college athletes should have some type of compensation for playing for the school.
First off, I want to thank you for making this year and my first honors English experience fun for me! Though this year was challenging for me, it has also been extremely knowledgeable. From my freshman year to sophomore year, I can definitely notice the difference in my writing and reading. I can definitely see how much I have grown, and I am sure you could see these improvements too. Last year, I was in regular English and jumping from regular to honors was a huge step for me, which at first, I was not fully comfortable with. But as I got to know this year’s class and of course you, Mrs. Walker, I felt like I belonged here, in an honors English class. Throughout this year, I have learnt and improved at my skills of properly annotating texts, writing a proper claim, analyzing author’s style, and also analyzing rhetorical situations.
When I started researching Union University, I knew it was a special place. Schools with a seamless integration of Christian faith and academic rigor are few and far between, but I recognized Union as an institution that did. The core values of Union University clearly reflect this integration, and I am confident my time as a student would shape me into a highly competent and devoted Christian nurse.
Thankfully, I have had a successful semester this Fall. Although my first semester in college started off shaky and caused me to have my fair share of doubts about City College, I am proud to say I finished this semester strongly with a 3.8 GPA. City College has started to grow on me and I have luckily got used to my hour and a half train ride to school from Brooklyn. One of the things that have made me start enjoying college more was the Intervarsity chapter at City College. It would be an understatement for me to say that this club has had a great impact in my life for the few months I have been a member. I have also joined the SSSP Fusion club which is a small club that focuses on community engagement. Although I joined the club late in
Throughout my time at Hope College, I have had many experiences working with children in grades K-3. I currently volunteer in a kindergarten class and tutor a second grade boy as part of an after-school program, and I have had field experiences in kindergarten, first, and second grade. I also have subbed extensively in third grade. Because of all this, I have become familiar with early elementary standards and students, and I have come to love working with students that age! Little ones are so much fun, and they have such a joy for life and learning. These first years of school are so important in shaping students’ futures and opinions – I have heard many college students say that their opinions of a certain subject were cemented in first,
I believe that I possess important attributes that will not only further the Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine mission, but also bring diversity to the campus. Inequality in both availability and quality of health care is an issue which I place great emphasis on. Having spent a week in Panama providing clinical services, I have witnessed firsthand the discrepancies in care that exist between urban centers and rural areas and rich and poor economies. Of particular concern to me is the lack of education and knowledge regarding healthy habits and lifestyles in these communities. This is something that we as prospective health care professionals can change, and I plan to focus heavily on these issues as an aspiring medical student
As the semester started, I had set my mind that I was destined to achieve a lot. During the start of the semester, I had several difficulties writing English assignments especially in terms of grammar. During the first week of the semester, I sat down, organized my thoughts and comprehended that throughout the semester, I had to achieve all that I had planned for. As a student of English, I had planned that throughout the semester, I had to improve my skills as a scholar, writer and critical thinker. Now that the semester has ended, I can reflect all the semester activities to depict how my writing skills and critical thinking skills have drastically improved. This paper presents a reflection paper of how this
I began my studies at Leavell College in the Spring of 2014 as a 21-year-old boy who thought he had things figured out. I complete my studies at Leavell College as a 25-year-old man who is humbler, smarter, wiser, and better equipped to make disciples. This is because of the faithful and gracious efforts of NOBTS professors, such as Dr. Stephen Hall, Dr. Jason Jarvis, Dr. John Gibson, Dr. Norris Grubbs, Dr. Rob Jackson, and many others. I cannot thank them enough for making me a more obedient Christ-follower, an equipped pastor, and a better husband to my wife. For my reflection paper, I will communicate how the professors at Leavell College equipped me according to each learning goal.
I found myself in a predicament this summer. Despite my best efforts to avoid this in my first two highschool years, I had one too many courses on my summer workload. It had become a time management nightmare, especially for me. Even preceding this class I had been forced to stay on a regimented schedule. It began with in person American Government. At the same time that course was running, so was personal finance and Database Management II. Finally, these two college courses began on the last week of Government.
Throughout my academic career, I have always been aware of that writing is one of my greatest weaknesses. But, this semester English 120 class has helped me gain more knowledge and acquire skills that would improve my writing significantly over the course. I have learned different techniques such as how to annotated lengthy papers, how to cite sources in MLA format. I can carry over all tools I have learned in this course and re-purpose them for intensive writing classes I take in the future. Every paper I composed throughout the course was a learning experience and fostered me to grow as an academic writer. And I was also given good sources that helped me get along the way.
