In Lyddie by Katherine Paterson and Lyddie the movie, both have similar same plot lines but with slightly different plots. Some People, such as Diana, have different ways to leave the main story; other characters like Triphena are outright gone, and a few characters never fully develop a complete personality. In the novel, Diana runs away due to becoming pregnant and expecting a newborn with a wedded man. On page 153 it Diana mentions, "I'm going to have a child, Lyddie." In the movie, Diana becomes ill due to working at the mill for so long. Diana is later seen in a hospital, which wasn't even in the book, where she eventually dies of natural causes. Losing this part of the book took out part of Diana's character with her departing out of the story much less meaningfully. The movie also loses the shock and surprise of Diana's sudden departure. While Diana's character doesn't go through complete development, other characters don't develop at all. …show more content…
In the beginning, Triphena was one of Lyddie's first friends throughout the story. On page 35, Triphena tells Lyddie' "The mistress earned herself a trip. I think the rest of us have too" This leads to Lyddie visiting her cabin, meeting Ezekial, and returning home to an enraged mistress firing her. Because of Triphena disappearing in the movie, all this and the entire job at the tavern is lost in the movie losing the suspense and tension for the reader. While it is sad to see characters leave the story, sometimes it's worse to see important moments leave the film
In the novel, there were two very special characters- Turtle and Sydelle. But in the movie, Ellen Raskins characters do change a bit. In the novel, Turtle Wexler always wears braids. In fact, she kicks people if they pull them. But in the movie Turtle doesn't wear braids, not even once. Also in the book, Sandy Mcsouthers and Turtle had a very close connection in terms of friendship. While in the movie, they argue almost anytime they see each other. On the other hand, Sydelle Pulaski is also very different. Just like how in the novel of The Westing Game, Ellen Raskin makes it very obvious that Sydelle uses crutches for attention. While in the movie, they don’t even mention it once. Also, in the book, Sydelle Pulaski doesn’t carry an animal, but in the movie, Sydelle carries a dog everywhere. Also in the book, Flora Baumbach was like a mother figure to Turtle, but since Flora wasn’t in the movie, Sydelle took her place in that situation. In regards to the characters, Turtle and Sydelle are very
The first major simalirite was when Byron got his lips stuck to the car, when he was looking at his reflection and kissed it.
In the book, Unbroken, and the movie has many similarities and differences. There are three evident differences that has been shown between the two. The first variation is the dead bodies the Japanese fighters shot. In the text, it says Louie saw the two dead bodies of Phil and Mac, after the plane attacked them. In the videoclip, it doesn’t show the point of view of Louie seeing them lifeless. Another change is the Japanese mercenary. In the passage it states that Louie saw the mercenary first appear, but then it disappeared. In the motion picture, it starts with the antagonist attacking right away. The last distinction is the actions each character made. In the paragraph, it shows Louie as a strong person, and Louie had to help Mac and Phil
movie didn't talk. Miles was mean in the movie but not in the book. The search party was not in the book. The Jailhouse was bigger in the movie. The Man in the Yellow Suit found miles and Jesse everywhere they went. Mae and Tuck was put in jail in the book . in the book the tucks ran away during an Intense storm. in the movie the tucks Escape while riding in a Carriage .in the book the tucks family lives in a faded red home in the woods. In the movie they lived in a log cabin. the Man in the Yellow Suit would take the woods if he found the girl in the book.. The Man in the Yellow Suit went to find the Tucks and Winnie, but mainly to find the spring. Jesse tells Winnie the water from the spring is dirty in the book. Jessie tells Winnie
It is believed, that there are many pieces to the story of To Kill a Mocking Bird left out of the film version of the novel. I agree with this statement, and I am here today to show you four select scenes and/or characters that (in my opinion) were significant to the story. To Kill a Mocking Bird is a coming of age story for two young children, as well as a story that shows that people are not always what they seem to be. The scenes that I have chosen are very important role in supporting to these themes.
The “outsiders” movie and novel are very fascinating. Both the movie and the novel have many differences.
I’m comparing the novel and the movie of the “Outsiders”. In my opinion the movie was better than the book. By reading the book and watching the movie they both seem similar in some ways. Therefore, after watching the movie they do have several differences.
The movie and book of TKAM are similar because there are similar events that occur between the movie and book. I say this because the similarities are the actions of Atticus with Tom Robinson, the respect showed to Atticus by the African American community of Maycomb and the whole story of Boo Radley along with Jem, Scout and Dill being intrusive on Radley property. Although the book and movie of TKAM are similar they are also different because in the novel Dill had blonde hair while in the movie Dill had brown hair and the film left out some scenes that were in the novel like when Calpurnia takes Scout and Jem with her to church. The actions of Atticus with Tom Robinson are the same between the novel and film because Atticus is asked to defend Tom Robinson who is charged with raping a white woman.
Gone with the Wind is one of my favorite love stories of all time. Margaret Mitchell wrote the beautiful story in 1928 and first published in 1936. The book is one of the best-selling novels to this date. Shortly after the book was published, it sold over one million copies within six months, as well as being awarded the Pulitzer Prize. The book immediately caught the eye of a young producer named David O. Selznick who immediately purchased the film rights for $50,000. The movie was just as big of a hit as the novel. Gone with the Wind won ten Academy Awards out of thirteen nominations. By today’s box office records, after adjusting for inflation, Gone with the Wind is still the most successful film in box office history. (IMdB) This
A similarity that is very important between the book and the movie is how the Dauntless initiation is. The initiation to become a member is almost exact, and that is important. In the movie and the book, the Dauntless initiation has three parts. The first part tests your physical strength. They show this through making initiates fight, shoot guns, throw knives, and run. While fighting, they get points if they win and none if they don’t. The points are awarded differently, though, such as if the initiate wins to a higher ranking opponent, then they get more points as opposed to if they win to a lower ranking opponent. Only the top initiates ranked get to continue to the next stage. The second stage is focused on mental and emotional preparation.
imagination by the hand. There are not that many things that are different in the
The actor choices from the film compare to what the book envisioned, but also contrast. The character of Daisy is not similar in the film to what the book
Have you heard of the Legend Of Sleepy Hollow? Did you know that Disney made an animated film about this story? Well I’m going to explain some details about the two works by giving you similarities and differences between them. Now I will explain the similarities.
The Lorax was originally published in 1971 by Dr Seuss, It became a classic children’s book. The book was made into a children’s movie in 2012. In the movie/short story 2081: Everyone Will Finally Be equal, it talks about how everyone is finally equal. No one person is prettier, stronger, faster than anyone else. It is how people wanted it for years, yet some people think it was better unequal. Although there are many differences in the short story and movie, I think the movie is way more interesting and action packed.
