Once he obtained her affection, he decided to wife her and built her a castle for them both to live in.
Every day, Ares would tell Lylah that she was more beautiful than the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite. He would tell her that her voice was melodic and that her singing was intoxicatingly sweet. One day, Aphrodite heard this and became resentful and envious of Lylah, for she was infatuated with Ares. Aphrodite asked Nemesis to help her get revenge on Ares by punishing Lylah. However Athena didn’t like to fight and would only take part in wars that defended her city and to keep the outside enemies away.
Athena and Ares share many common characteristics and many differences. One major similarity is that they are both deities who’s realm of power deals with warfare. The difference in this, though, is that Ares is a god of brutal and simple warfare. He is sometimes even known simply as a butcher, and the Greeks did not respect him as much as Athena. Athena, on the contrary, is a goddess of strategic warfare, and is very respected because of it. Another similarity they hold is that they are both children of Zeus, although under very different circumstances. Ares had a normal birth, whereas Athena was born out of Zeus’ skull after Zeus had swallowed Athena’s pregnant mother.
Being the god of bloodlust, Ares is always getting into fights and getting involved in wars. However, he can never win any of his battles or win the wars he sides on, mostly due to his half-sister Athena. Here is an example
In Greek mythology, there were two brothers named Epimetheus and Prometheus. The two of them gave fire to the people without asking Zeus. As punishment for what they did Zeus chained Prometheus to a mountain. For Epimetheus, Zeus planned to create charming and deceitful woman. He sent her as a gift. In Greek mythology, each god or goddess has a unique affinity. For example, Athena is the Goddess of war, Poseidon is the God of the sea, and Aphrodite is a famous goddess known for representing beauty, love, and fertility. Aphrodite is quite popular in our world as she is the symbol of the infinitely desirable female.
A Similarity of both Apollo and Aphrodite manipulation is the revelations of the motives are revealed before their actions take place. In the first Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite, the story describes the beautiful, virgin goddess who falls in love with the mortal, Anchises. Aphrodite eludes the most powerful Greek god Zeus and in retaliation, Zeus forces Aphrodite to fall in love with a mortal which eventually leads to her falling in love with Anchises and have sex with him. Aphrodite intentions are made clear before any actions take place and is described, “And when she saw him, Aphrodite, lover of laughter, she loved him, and a terrifying desire seized her heart” (Aphrodite 87-88). Comparing this hymn to the second Homeric Hymn to apollo, the story has similarities to the story of Aphrodite. For example, Apollo also reveals his
In the Iliad by Homer, Diomedes a Greek soldier displays excellence in his army. Athena, the god of war, gives Diomedes qualities of a god, which he uses with virtue, making him a Greek hero. In the battle, several gods and mortal fighters lack the knowledge of the costs of war, which creates a lack of virtuous leaders in the fighting. Diomedes fills this gap with his piety, and teaches his victims the effects of battle. His first major victim is Pandarus, a great archer with arrogance, whose tongue he brutally rips out. He then scratches his next victim Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, on her arm, maring her complexion. Diomedes then stabs Ares in the stomach, which cuts off the source of his appetites. Because Diomedes possesses a balanced soul and piety, he provides his victims with contrapasso punishment, that demonstrates to them the cost of war, making him a Greek hero.
Athena is fierce and brave; She is smart, somewhat ruthless, but she was praised by all. Athena took part in many wars and also fought in the Trojan War. She is “The Goddess of War”, so she is Ares counterpart. She is smart, she invents many things, like the flute, trumpet, the chariot, and much more. She is praised by many because of her “compassion and generosity.” to her followers.
Meanwhile, Zeus truly began to see the type of person Aphrodite really was, as she was always helping others. Zeus began to develop feelings for her as well as she did for him, and saw that she would never hurt anyone like his own wife hurt him. One night Zeus decided he had to see Aphrodite, so he snuck out of the palace while Hera was still sleeping and ran to Aphrodite's house as fast as a lightning bolt. He rapidly knocked on her door until Aphrodite finally answered. A look of shock crept over Aphrodite’s face and she stood there speechless. Zeus asked her quietly “May I come inside, please? I ,uh, want to talk.” Aphrodite nodded and let Zeus in, wondering about why he was there. They spent the whole night talking, laughing, and crying about their lives
