All relationships are built upon trust, respect and balance and it is a well known fact that behind every good man is a great woman. Although Shakespeare's Macbeth is pivoted on death, deceit, and corruption, the underlying relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is central to the plot and its progression. Through his portrayal of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, Shakespeare proves that equality and balance is the key behind any relationship, especially marriage, and when lacking in those aspects, the relationship will inevitably deteriorate.
