In Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’ there are a plethora of reasons as to why Macbeth was doomed by a flaw in his character instead of by his fate. Macbeth's ambitious nature and greed for power was the flaw in his character that eventually led to the death of Macbeth. However, Lady Macbeth also shows an affect on the flaws of Macbeth’s character with how she is also ambitious to be the Queen. This shows that Macbeth is not doomed by fate but by the flaw of greed, ambition and force of Lady Macbeth.

At the beginning of the play, when Macbeth finds out that he is going to be in line of becoming King, he is very ambitious to making sure this happens and fast. Macbeth’s ambition is first illustrated in his openness to the idea of becoming king by hearing from the three witches that he was going to become King. “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor… All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!” The witches here tell Macbeth his future about how he will be the …show more content…

Macbeth is occasionally Lady Macbeth’s puppet during the play with how she encourages him to do stuff that he is not able to do without a push. Lady Macbeth’s attitude towards power is a little bit similar to Macbeth’s character. The flaw of Macbeth actions are forced by Lady Macbeth. She knew that King Duncan must be killed for Macbeth to become king, so she makes Macbeth carry out the murder. “Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty.” Lady Macbeth is welcoming murderous thoughts to help herself and Macbeth carry out the murder without anyone’s compassion can stop the evil plan.
