Hiram Bingham observed the setting. “Stones covered in moss”, he recorded. Bingham has explored ruins, trying to find a city by the name a Vilcabamba according to Duane Damon. The Inca civilization interested Bingham. The Inca’s creations were worth finding. “Though the explorer was seeking Vilcabamba, he found someplace better”. Surely, you have heard of an ancient city in Peru known as Machu Picchu. “The significance of Machu Picchu as a travel destination are the artistic structures, the nature, and the mysteries.”
In summation, “Despite the mysteries surrounding it, Machu Picchu is recognized as one of the world's great archaeological wonders.” (Source 1) . But anyway, surely now Machu Picchu is calling your name, so go have fun, explore and be happy in the beautiful land that is Machu
The sacred city of Machu Picchu (in Quechua: old mountain) is the greatest Inca masterpiece. Incredibly daring and inventive, it was built on the most difficult, wild and inaccessible mountain area available. It is known world-wide not only for its impressive and unique ruins, but also for its unusual location on the edge of an abyss, from which one can appreciate the vigorous waters of the Urubamba river.
Machu Picchu is one of the great Wonders of the World and a popular travel destination. The massive 15th century Inca citadel is located in Peru, sitting over 2,000-metres above the sea level. The mysterious structures have tickled our imagination ever since it was brought to the world’s attention in 1911.
I am from Peru, a country that is glorified for its beauty and history, but one of its most beautiful and reputed sites is that of Macchu Picchu. Tourists from around the world travel to see Macchu Picchu. Macchu Picchu, in fact, has been rated as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It is treasured by UNESCO, and continues to inspire and awe millions of people. A few years ago, I took my daughter to see the site since I wanted to give her a special treat. The following essay describes the history and beauty of the place so that I can, to some extent, relay my indescribable feelings of a magical place to the reader.
achu Picchu is an ancient Inca city nestled on top of a small mountain 2133 meters above sea level and was founded in 1450. It is believed that the Incas abandoned their city around 1572 due to the smallpox disease and the Spanish invasion. The city is about 112 km away from the city of Cusco.
There are many interesting places to travel all over the world. For example, these travel places are Paris, Yellowstone National Park, Bahamas and many more. All of these travel places are intriguing, but have ever heard of Machu Picchu?Machu Picchu is located in the Peruvian Andes and is a historical city that was created by the Inca empire. Machu Picchu is an amazing travel place because of its history, the wonderful setting and the unsolved mysteries.
Machu Picchu is a physical symbol of the culture that created it. It is located in the Andes Mountains in Peru, South America, high above the Urubamba River Canyon Cloud Forest. The Incan capital, Cuzco, the closest major city, is forty three miles northwest of this landmark. Machu Picchu is five square miles and eighteen square kilometers in size. This ancient civilization has an altitude of eight thousand feet and is surrounded by towering green mountains. Although covered in dense bush, it had many agricultural terraces that were sufficient enough to feed the population. Due to water from the natural springs as well as the agricultural terraces, it had the ability to be self-contained. Machu Picchu was created by the Inca culture for
Slide 3: How was Machu Picchu’s location beneficial to Machu Picchu’s growth if there were any? Machu Picchu’s location was beneficial to its protection. It was a retreat for the emperor so it needed to be secure in case someone wanted the emperor dead found it. The city was possibly a fortress, but I think that it was a nobility retreat. The Inca had no written language so it’s purpose is under debate. If it was a military stronghold, it would been a very good one. However, the city was abandoned around the time the spanish conquistadors arrived in the Inca empire. It believed that it was abandoned because of a smallpox outbreak. It was also a very sacred to the Incas and had several religious spots. The surrounding mountains were very sacred to the Inca. The river that threads it’s way around the mountain is still sacred to people today. None of my sources said if the mountains were still sacred or not.
Some people don’t know the great and amazing place called Manchu Picchu, which is an old Inca building that many architects admire. Those people don’t know that thousands of tourists and visitors come to look at it, wonder about its past, and to reflect off of it. In source two, the author states that “A world heritage is a place that is amazing. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization support that Machu Picchu is a world heritage.” This shows the reader how important and stunning Machu Picchu was. In this essay we are going to talk about what was so amazing about Machu Picchu, how it affected the environment and how it inspired architects, and how and who made it.
The only written accounts of the Inca were composed by outsiders, its myths and culture passed to generations by storytellers. Little bits and pieces of its existence were mainly found in the ruins of cities and Temples. In 1911 archaeologist Hiram Bingham discovered the 15th century mountaintop citadel of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu’s magnificent stone structures reflecting the power of this Pre-Colombian
One of the most interesting things talked about during lecture was the Incan archeological site Machu Picchu. I believe that Machu Picchu stands out because of its mysterious and interesting aspects and its existence was unknown for many centuries. Scientists believe that it was originally built as a religious retreat or a temple for high priests due to the skeletal finds, a majority being women and children, but there are still many theories about why they built this extraordinary site. Machu Picchu is considered, by many, one of “the world’s most important archeological sites (Destination360).” It was built sometime in the 1400s and was not rediscovered until almost 500 years later in the early 1900s because they had hid it so well. Even during their conquer, the Spanish were never able to find it (Destination360). Machu
For starters Machu Picchu is a very interesting ancient city also known as, “ The Lost City of the Incas”. Machu Picchu is hidden if you look from the ground up, yet surrounded by springs and terraces. For many centuries Machu Picchu was unknown to the world. Since culture plays an important role in Peru there is a city named, Arequipa which is surrounded by three volcanoes. This city is filled with ancient Spanish culture and happens to be located right by Peru’s most visited natural attraction, Colca Canyon. Cusco is also another place of interest in Peru. Cusco is like Machu Picchu containing ruins and being apart of the Inca Empire. Cusco was the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, located in southwestern
High in the Andean mountain range, nestled on a ridge between two mountains high above the valley floor below sits the amazing city and archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is about 1400 kilometers south of the Equator on the eastern slope of the Peruvian Andes. The site lies near the head waters of the Amazon River and is on the ridge between two prominent mountain peaks – Machu Picchu and Hauyna Picchu – about 500 meters above the valley bottom (Wright and Kenneth, 2-3). Machu Picchu, believed to be the royal estate of the Inca ruler Pachacuti, is the most well-known of all the Inca archaeological sites. Professor Hiram Bingham discovered the site in July of 1911 and excavated it with the help of National Geographic and
