There are many phenomenal musicians in the world, but very few as diverse and cultured as Dave Matthews. Matthews was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1967. Matthews and his family then moved two years later to Westchester County, New York, where his dad went to work for IBM. Then, in the early `70s, Matthews and his family moved to Cambridge, England, before returning to New York. It was in Cambridge where Matthews' dad died in 1977 from Hodgkin's disease. After his father's death, the family moved back to South Africa in 1980. It was here that Matthews went to a few different schools and learned more about the evils of government, there and in general.

Mötley Crüe is an 80’s rock band, based out of Los Angeles. The band consists of 4 people, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars. They perform heavy metal, hard rock, and glam metal. Mötley Crüe is known as “The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band”, and rightly so. Kanye West re-appeared on twitter two weeks ago. He shared with followers his journey to happiness, creating art and free thinking. He also announced new music is on the way from himself, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Teyana Taylor, and Nas. Normal right? Well that excitement was short lived when the iconic rapper tweeted out a series of tweets aligning himself with President donald trump. In several tweets Kanye can be quoted saying "You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is m brother. I love everyone." Like donnie, Kanye's tweets struck a cord with everyone and caused the entire Hip-Hop community to react in disbelief.

Metallica is considered one of the first metal bands of the early eighties. They are a part of the big four, the other three include Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. The metal genre is proven to have the biggest fan base over any other genre. In this article I will only be talking about their early years and going up to their first four albums. Most diehard Metallica fans will argue that their first four albums are true Metallica and after that they went mainstream to try and branch out to other audiences.

It seems as though Chris Brown's outfit during the Tuesday leg of New York Fashion Week, was a poor choice. After donning matching furs with his on and off again girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, the couple were criticized by PETA. In a statement provided to Gossip Cop, PETA said "There are few things more out of touch than draping yourself in the skin of animals who were beaten, electrocuted, and even skinned alive for their fur." PETA goes on to say "Pink's New York Fashion Week billboard shows true beauty comes from kindness - Chris Brown's furs are just more of the same from him: ugly violence." The 25 year old who is no stranger to critics has yet to respond.

For this discussion I focus my attention on the recent arrest of celebrity Chris Brown. It was alleged that he pointed a gun to a woman’s face who in fear run away. “The incident began early Tuesday when the LAPD received a 911 call about a woman claiming she had been threatened by the performer, police said. Officers arrived about 3 a.m. at the estate in the 5000 block of Corbin Avenue. The woman, Baylee Curran, told The Times that Brown pointed a gun at her during a violent rage before she ran outside. Curran said she and a friend went to Brown’s home with a business associate, who was invited by the musician. She wanted to talk to Brown about future projects, she said”. (LaTimes, 2016). The victim in this case was obviously the girl who alleged that Chris pointed a gun at her.

Kendrick Lamar is an inspiration because of the dangerous childhood he overcame, how he inspires people with his music, and the charities he supports and donates to.

Kendrick Lamar Ducksworth is an American rap artist that has had an impact on all his listeners. He has been making music for several years beginning his teenage years where he wrote stories of his childhood. Later, turning these stories of his life into music that eventually led him to be one of the most beloved artists of people today. His music is so powerful it has much controversy over his lyrics as well as some of his songs, Alright, being used as a protest song. Overall all he plays a huge role in today’s culture, especially today’s black culture.

Kurt Cobain; one of the most famous and influential musicians in the history of rock and roll - more specifically, Grunge. Being a member of Nirvana, the most prominent band in the history of the genre isn’t the only accomplishment of the late, great musician though as he also won many awards. Kurt Cobain had an interesting upbringing, successful musical career, and a life that ended with a sudden death.
