Daniel stayed up late reading her journals, part him felt guilty for reading someone's personal thought, but the other part was intrigued by her life. He wondered if his mom had some of the same thoughts when she was sick. He snorted a pea sized pile of dope and stretched out on his bed. "Live from New York, it's Saturday night" was announced through the TV. The host was Madonna, Daniel didn’t really follow the show but knew this was a rerun. She wore a fur boa and a dark blue hooded sweater. "Thank you, and Daniel..." Daniel thought he heard his name on TV. He looked at the screen and Madonna was smiling "don't do anything foolish Daniel" Daniel blinked and Madonna was holding a large white poster that said "Madonna's Wedding, BYOB" on it. He figured he dreamt it then wondered if the girl from the cemetery was real too. The dope he snorted was stronger than usual. Instead of making him feel normal he had that warm blanket sensation that strong opiates give you. His nose itched but he felt like he was in heaven. Not even Madonna or some dead teenage girl could ruin his night. …show more content…
It was Brad. He walked in and noticed a pile of journals stacked on top of a box. "Doing some homework?" "No, just being nosey" "Hey man, you should..." "Why don't you do it if you think it's such a brilliant idea?" "Calm down, I have a hustle" Brad pulled out a stack of little envelopes rubber banded together. He told Daniel that he was just trying to put little money in his pocket. "You look respectable." "Respectable?" "If we put you in a dress shirt and a pair of Dockers you'd look no different than any other prick in the suburbs." "What am I supposed to do, tell a stranger that I'm psychic and their dead daughter is communicating with me?" "Not them, her, her mom, a dad would see through that bullshit in a

Throughout the novel of “The Madonnas of Echo Park” by Brando Skyhorse, the usage of connecting various characters different lifestyles conveys the message of how in the real world everybody's actions would have some sort of impact with themselves, an individual, community, etc. Despite there being various characters in the novel that I could connect my life experience with, the two characters that stood out the most was Hector and Felicia. Reason being both characters reminded a lot of my parents who came to the United States and a lot of similarity to the characteristics of Hector and Felicia.

Upon entering the mall I heard a faint echo of rock music from deep inside. Walking through piles of broken glass, avoiding hanging ceiling tiles and strung out junkies, I followed the sound of the music. It was coming from the second floor. I made my way to the broken escalator and climbed it. When I reached the top I couldn’t help but letting out a chuckle, despite my dire circumstances. The source of the music, my meeting place with Wendell, was a Hot Topic. The old kind with the fake gothic wrought iron fence. At least Wendell had a sense of humor. I reached out and pulled the gate open.
The Madonna was a very important event in Italian Harlem. This started in the street parallels of 115th. Madonna lived in the immigrant’s neighborhoods, while she was forced to go to mass in the basement with the poor people. She didn’t like the idea that she was forced to go to the Catholic Church with the immigrants. The Italians were very powerful people and started to take over Harlem. Since the Italians were taking the political and social life the Madonna were forced to get out of the basement.
Madonna was born in Bay City, Michigan on August,16,1958. Pop star Madonna was a singer, dancer, and actress. Madonna is a woman who drove herself to the top of pop music charts, in concerts, films, and in music videos. Madonna was the third of six children in a large Catholic family. Her father Tony, was an engineer for Chrysler/General Dynamics. Madonna's mother was of French Canadian descent. She died of breast cancer when Madonna was five years old. Tony moved the family to Pontiac, Michigan, and married the women they had hired to care of the house. The adjustment was difficult for Madonna as the oldest daughter. She had to consider herself the "lady of the house" and had received much of her father's affection and attention. During her
Samantha has been roaming the streets of New York for years now and has had some bad life experiences thrown at her and she has now become accustom to habitual heroin use to get her through her daily routine. With being a junkie, she steals to find her fix and occasionally resorts to prostitution to get some cash in her hand. Consequently she gets pregnant from the random John and does not believe in abortion, she thinks that this new baby will help her turn her life around. She injects and all her problems go away for the quick bliss of time. Time then strolls by day by day and she
Portraits of the Madonna and Child depicting Mary holding the infant Christ provide a recurrent image in art throughout the ages. In prevalent portrayals over the span of centuries, artists reflect a wide diversity in their representations of the iconic duo. In particular, two works found in the National Gallery of Ireland in the early Italian Renaissance gallery, The Virgin and Child, Saint John the Baptist and Prophets by an unknown artist (1325-1450) and The Virgin and Child by Paolo Uccello (1435-1440), highlight the transition between Byzantine and early Renaissance paintings of the Madonna and Child, particularly in relation to subject matter, composition, material, style and meaning. Although each of these paintings of the Madonna and Child depicts the same Christian iconography of Mary and Jesus, their differences in composition and style influence their meaning, with each painting reflecting the individual artist who painted it and the different time period during which it was created.

“My ex-girlfriend was taken away by the cop and taken to the local jail. My ex-girlfriend’s Dad showed up and I rode back with him to their house. Finally my parents came and picked me up. I went home and maybe got two hours of sleep, if you even call that sleep. The next morning, I went back to my ex-girlfriend’s house and she was later released from jail that day. For the longest time, we would just sit there in silence, because, what do you say? It was time to comfort one another. I not only felt bad about the whole situation, but I knew no one was going to believe me, us. Believe that a girl purposively jumped into the moving vehicle. I later learned that the girl who died had been suicidal. Earlier that day, before the accident,
Although Jan Van Eyck was one of the most influential artists during his time period, his work, Lucca Madonna is fairly unknown. Whilst researching Jan Van Eyck the work rarely appeared unless one research specifically the name.

Hospitality is defined as the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers. Hospitality is something that can be seen everywhere, regardless of geographical location, religion, etc. This initially sparked my interest because hospitality is something does not require anything special to do. Everywhere a person goes, hospitality can be seen in some way, shape, or form.
The 1980s American culture was largely conservative compared to that of today. Previously, the majority of the American populace was fiercely heteronormative and strictly religious. As the contemporary mainstream become more adapted to the fast-growing media culture of today, it has become increasingly difficult for many casual listeners to find a defined boundary between artist and entertainer. Art is rarely conservative. Art in music is to be valued for its complexity, and its ability to invoke thoughts, emotions while expanding perspectives(Kalkavage). What qualified Madonna as an artist is her manipulation of music as a medium for instigation and expression. Like a prayer released on March 2, 1989, is Madonna’s fourth album in her long-lasting career. The works incorporated in this album was largely inspired by her childhood, personal and love life experiences. The album’s title track of the same name "Like a Prayer” was originally featured in Pepsi’s commercial as a debut. Pepsi later backed down from the endorsement deal following the release of the controversial music video for this song. Ironically, ending the endorsement deal with Pepsi had fueled publicity for the album itself. The single would later raise to become a top hit in many countries(Thakur. 197). The music video challenged the religious boundaries embedded in the popular culture and communicated personal truth. It had dealt with controversies by drawing the masses’ attention to the core of Madonna’s
