Malala was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman on October 9, 2012, for attending school to get an education. She is known as an activist for women’s education and leads by example through attending school even after she was aware that she could be killed for attending school in her native country of Pakistan. This is that the local Taliban in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had banned girls from attending school.

Many people have mixed feelings about the outcome of her nomination for the prestigious award. Malala believes that education is the basic right of boys and girls, men and women everywhere. Fortunately, the physicians in Birmingham were able to control the swelling. Over the past months, she has undergone several operations to repair her skull and improve her hearing.” (9) The last challenge is a big challenge for Malala because she will have to go through many surgeries to fix the damage from the bullet that the gunmen shot at her. Her brain and hearing might never get back to normal or how they were before the bullet hit her.
When she was finally able to go back to school, she was shot in the head by a Taliban member. After she recuperated, she was more determined than ever to succeed in school and prevent this from happening to anybody else. Her high school success, activism, and determination led her to win a Nobel Peace Prize at the age of seventeen. Malala Yousafzay is a seventeen year old girl with an inspiring story. Even as a young girl, she strived for a change in female education. Malala wrote a blog on which she spoke out about the right of girls to receive an education, which led to her appearance in the media. Unfortunately, she also became a target of the Taliban. In October of 2012, Malala was attacked by a Taliban on school bus. She was nearly killed by a bullet to her head.
