After reading the book ‘’I Am Malala’’ I noticed that she was one of the bravest strong young girls in the world. Malala Yousafzai is a young girl born on July 12, 1997, in the city, Mingora in Pakistan. She fought for something that is she is passionate about. Heroes are people who stand up for something, they are courageous, they are noble and they are loyal to something they stand for. Malala is known as the fifteen-year-old girl who got shot because she fought for women’s rights and education. This young girl named Malala is brave, persistent, and influential.

Malala risked her life to fight for girls’ education, but survived and is still fighting for the cause she deeply cares about. Many foreign countries such as Pakistan or Iraq believe that certain targeted groups don’t deserve a proper education because of certain ways that they live life. As a young girl fighting for such a controversial issue such as education, Malala understood the struggles of many uneducated students’ lives because she has lived it. She told the interviewer, “When you don’t have an education, your life is very much controlled by others” (Yousafzai 1). It is so difficult to go through life with no type of education, then one is unable to critically understand what certain things are which doesn’t help very much. If a person does receive an education, they understand the problems that people face and understands different areas. In 1997, Yousafzai was born in Swat Valley, a large Pakistani district, which later was overrun and governed by the Taliban. The Islamic fundamentalist group banned education for girls, but she did not let their threatening influence change her passion for education. Malala Yousafzai’s life was full of hardships, but with her dedication and perseverance, she was able to defy expectations and become an international symbol for women’s rights.

In 2012, word of Malala Yousafzai spread around the world. She had been shot in the head for standing up for girls’ education. Malala is a teenager who displays many attributes that all heroes show, no matter what time period they are in or how old they are. These attributes consist of courage, determination, and selflessness.

Someone who displays an infinite amount of grit is Malala Yousafzai. Malala is an 18 year old Palestinian who fights for women's education. When the Taliban, a terrorist group, began attacking girl schools in Pakistan, she delivered a speech describing how women should obtain basic rights to an education. After Malala’s act of bravery, the Taliban began threatening her. They despised her for publicly speaking for women's rights. Not just because she is known as being the girl who was shot by the Taliban, she has made a name for herself. Malala is the perfect representation of someone that reflects Christian Service. Her advocacy for girls rights an education has changed lives for many adolescent girls not only in Pakistan, but around the world. “I tell my story, not because it is unique, but because it is not. In this quote stated by Malala, it shows how she does not share her story for pity or for the publicity, she shares her story out of her heart to show girls in similar situations that they are not alone. For instance she published an autobiography called” I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban’s.” Malala also won many awards of recognission. The most important accomplishment she had was she got to go back to school how she fought for. She also impacted many people to be fearless, to forgive, to never have fear and anger in your heart. The biggest impact she had on us was that there is no age limit to stand up against injustice and things you believe in.

Malala Youzafzai is an incredibly inspiring woman. Due to the fact that she has sacrificed her safety and her "normal" life to try and achieve her goals and fix the educational system in Pakistan. The Taliban were taking over and banning girls from going to school, and Malala would've rather taken a bullet to the head than let that happen. Literally. During her aim to help the world, this young girl got shot in the head and survived to tell the story. She took a stand and changed the world for the better. Malala was a very intelligent child with many achievements, who will leave behind a legacy that will last for lifetimes.

About 3 days ago, a lot of newspapers as well as websites reported that Malala Yousafzai, 17-year-old young teenager from Pakistan, got the Nobel Peace Prize as the youngest winner ever. Since I did not know much about why she got this prize, I looked up some background information about her. What I found was that her most significant and remarkable statement in her speech at the United Nations headquarter in New York. In her influential speech, she stated, “Let us pick up our books and our pens, they are the most powerful weapons”(Sara Malm 3). Borgella, came from Haiti when she was 17 years old and had to drop out of high school to provide for her little sister. She is a single parent and her highest level of education is high school. She would always work odd jobs that provide no benefits or insurance, long hours and low pay. No matter how many hours she worked she was never financially stable. She would get hurt on the job and she could never take off cause then the bills would pile up. So my mother continued to work with her various injuries to provide for my sisters (Havika and Cynthia) and I. As a child, she would tell us that we can be whatever we wanted and that education is freedom. She said, “With education there are many opportunities and experiences waiting to happen. Malala Yousafzai was a talented and brave young woman who had one goal in life: to get an education and encourage others to do the same. Born in Pakistan, Malala did not grow up with many resources, but she was lucky enough to have a father that shared the same goal as her. At the young age of fifteen, she was shot in the face by the Taliban for standing up for girls’ rights to an education. Although the recovery time was long and hard, the Taliban did not silence her as she continued her campaign. This eventually led her to opening her own school in Yemen and writing the novel I Am Malala. As someone who highly values education and bravery, her story made me interested in learning more about her culture, family, and experiences.
