The ultimate aim of this research project is to determine what benefits the male early years professionals can provide for the children and whether they are able to influence the children’s development within the kindergarten. The main motivation for focussing on this topic is because it appears that additional research is required to enable us to determine how male early years professionals assist children’s lifestyle within the early years environment. As a result of this, a number of themes have emerged from the secondary research. The Day-care trust (2012) suggested several benefits of placing men in the early years sector. It is stated that having male workers would benefit the setting by providing positive role models to both the …show more content…
It may be important to note that even though the research has taken place in Norway within a Norwegian kindergarten, much of the literature within this section is not of Norwegian origin due to the significant language barrier. 3.1.Men as role models One of the most prominent motives for male inclusion within the educator role is the effect it will have on children in terms of the provision of a role model at a young age. To define a role model may be a difficult task as this is subjective depending on each individual, however, within this context, a role model for children shows such attributes as cooking, playing with the children and having the personality traits of being both caring and sensitive. (Ruxton, 1992) A possible reason for wanting male role models may be due to the increase in divorce within the last four decades, with more than 40,000 more marriages in the UK resulting in divorce from the 1970’s to 2012 (ONS, 2012). It could be argued that children are in need of a strong male influence in other aspects of their life if it’s not being received within their home environment. The Groucutt, (2012) document is used to encourage men onto a training course. It explains the reason why men should enter the profession and details on what can be offered to applicants. One of the reasons the document uses for having a male only course is due to the rising number of single fathers in today’s society. Groucutt states that daily

In years past, the American Dream for most young girls’ is to grow up and be married to Prince Charming and to “Live Happily Ever After!” Although this may be expected - it is rarely fulfilled. Marriage is the legal and binding union between a man and woman. Yet when couples marry, they vow to stay by their partner’s side ‘till death do us part.’ Currently that vow seems to have little or no value in today’s society. The current statistics for survival of marriage are quite grim. The divorce rate in the United States is somewhere between 50 percent and a startling 67 percent. (KSL News) One contributing factor the growing epidemic of divorce is the parting of different family
The patterns of marriage, divorce and cohabitation over the past 40 years has varied considerably. In 1972, over 480,000 couples got married subsequently making this the highest amount of marriages within a year ever since the Second World War. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) this was down to the baby boom generation of the 1950’s reaching the age of marriage.
A role model is an irreplaceable person who often has a following of people who attempt to emulate their actions and reactions. They often are in places of authority or, rather, noble in the eyes of their attendants. Role models yield a lot of value in many societies proven through literature in “The Color of Water” by James McBride, observations of mentors both in history and the present, and my personal experience with leaders who I appreciate.
Being a good role model: This is very important to support the ages five to eight. Knowing fully well that the hearts of children are like a plain slate and they are quick in
The first study to be considered is a qualitative study which spanned a 25 year period and looked at 131
Standing Tall It is the human condition to be dependent upon others; this has always been so. Humans look up to siblings, best friends, grandparents, and even teachers but the most sought out dependency in life is in the form of a father. Much is expected from the male gender, but moreso of fathers. A father’s predetermined role in society is to make the decisions for, protect, and keep order in his home.
The definition of a role model is a person whose behaviour, example or success can be emulated by others, especially young people. Their values, actions and behaviours are upheld as an ideal and to be desired. Being a role model may not be taken in its entirety. It can be broken down allowing a person to be a role model in one area and not another. Being a manager is not a guarantee to be a role model. Good leaders will model behaviours that encourage employees to endorse organisational goals and objectives. By modelling the behaviours you find desirable and that will help reach company gaols others will also begin to model said behaviours.
In addition, their responsibilities may interfere with family relationships. The man has to support their family with everything. I remember that since my mom and dad got married. Dad has been working and gave us everything we wanted. We used to give all to me and my sister. But we didn’t spend so much quality time with our dad because he was always working. It will cause that dad and daughter or son feel disappointed because they hardly spend time and good moments together. The passage makes it clear why sometimes men can't share so much time with the family because they have to be worrying about supporting of their Family. The article states that children who don't spend quality time with their dad tend to be emotional effect. Finally, man who doesn't share time with the family they tend to be upset with

Women are portrayed as needy, whiny, and downright annoying, a burdensome background noise that distracts one's attention from more important matters -like football games, for example. This particular trope is also harmful to men painting them as lazy, uncaring, and somewhat football obsessed slobs that would rather sleep in a garage for a week than help their wives do the laundry. While this trope is degrading to both genders in two opposite ways, it comes together to normalize unhealthy relationships, one where responsibilities are not shared, feelings are not validated nor heard out, and ignoring the needs of one's partner is commonplace. This goes hand in hand with the "marriage is the end of a man's freedom" trope. Which again, harms genders in two separate ways teaching girls to believe that they are nothing more than a heavy deadlock around the necks of the men they love, and teaching boys that cherishing the relationship they are in is not manly. People organize their knowledge about the world around them by sorting and simplifying information then creating representations of the reality displaying its most typical elements and properties. This is responsible for defining the essence of our worldview and has a significant influence on social
In 1995, Statistics Canada data shows that 30% of marriages split (McGovern). Since the 1960’s, marriage and divorce have been undergoing profound changes which have altered the meaning of marriage, the chances of its ending in divorce and the circumstances attached to marriage. These changes have made it easier for couples to obtain a divorce due to the changing laws and changing morals of society. The changes include three new grounds needed to prove marital breakdown, such as your spouse committing adultery, your spouse causing mental or physical cruelty or a separation of a year it was previously three years. Divorce also impacts the family as a whole, not only the children but also the two parties
. Even in today’s world social media plays a large part in pushing what success is when speaking about role models. The proper role models for youth are not deemed as successful and are not shown on social media or television. This makes it hard from day one for those who see something such as a positive example because it does not seem to be the most poplar way in school. Students in the earlier years are easier
In today’s society, the imagery of men and women are portrayed in their different personalities. The ideal male is always characterized as being competent, stable, tough,
The influence that role models have over young people is vast and great. Role models can affect a young person’s beliefs, or possibly change their entire outlook on life. Young people may want to imitate the desirable traits they see in role models. Role models can also have an effect on one’s decision-making process. The choices a young person makes in life are directly associated with his or her
