Methods: My research question is, is there a significant difference in lung cancer rates between males and females. My variables were inspired by some phone call questions that I picked from the HINTS dataset there is a total of, in which all were made from a sample of the U.S. population, also two out of three questions were asked in a likert scale. One of the first questions was “ Have you ever smoked cigarettes everyday for at least six months?”, their pool of respondents were all those who have ever smoked at least 100 cigarettes and those who smoke sometimes. This was a yes or no question in which the entries were very closely split, there was a 53.1% for the yes and a 46.9% for the no, there was a total of 141 sample responses see …show more content…
The survey was delivered through phone calls to those participants that had any of the above characteristics. The answers were recorded through a phone call recording with the consent and knowledge of the participant. Variables: Gender was my Independent Variable and it was measured very briefly in one of the questions asking how likely is the average in male and females that smoke will develop cancer. It was a difficult to find in the HINTS dataset if there was a significant difference in lung cancer rates between males and females. My Dependent Variable was lung cancer and it seems like most respondents agreed that those who smoke regardless of the gender will have the same risk at developing lung cancer or any other type of cancer. Statistics: The statistics software I used was the HINTS 2003 survey instrument in which I then selected the tobacco topic and it gave me a list of questions related to tobacco. I then tried to choose the best and closest questions related to my research question in which were very few. I honestly, don’t have any of my own tables formed from spss because I didn’t use any variables from that dataset instead I used HINTS. I was confused in how will I be making spss work when using HINTS, also instead of using my variables I used my first research question from homework number two. My entire literature
The first claim that I analyzed was that women are more likely to use charm and men are more likely to use physical force held true according to my sample. There were three instances of using charm. Hal, the father, did so once. Lois, the mother, did so the other two times. The second
In the past years, there has been a major paradigm shift in the management of non-small cell lung cancer also known as (NSCLC). NSCLC should now be further sub-classified by histology and driver mutation if one is known or present. Translational research results now allow such mutations to be inhibited by either receptor monoclonal antibodies (mAb) or small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI). Whilst empirical chemotherapy with a platinum-doublet remains the gold standard for advanced NSCLC without a known driver mutation, targeted therapy is pushing the boundary to significantly improve patient outcomes and quality of life. In this review, we will examine the major subtypes
I conducted a survey, asking 20 females and 20 males their favorite food group for my AP Statistics project. I surveyed on Wednesday, September 27 and on Thursday, September 28 at Marshall High School. They chose from protein, grain, vegetables, fruit, and dairy. From the data, I found that 10 males and 2 females liked protein best, 3 males and 2 females liked grains best, 1 male and 1 female liked vegetables best, 3 males and 13 females liked fruit best, and 3 males and 2 females liked dairy best. Half of the males liked protein best, while most females liked fruits best. The least amount of both males and females liked vegetables. From this data, we can see that males like protein more than females do, and females like fruit more than males
Lung cancer is the most common cancer-related cause of death among men and women. Lung cancer can be undetected for many years causing it to become more dangerous and possibly fatal. There is not cure for lung cancer or any cancer, but if detected in an early stage the lung cancer can be detected, treated, and hopefully terminated. There are many new and developing treatments being tested now that may save lives in the future. Through understanding what the lung cancer is, doctors can easily diagnose and assess cancer patients.
The independent variable is married status (single vs. divorced vs. married); the dependent variable is happiness measured on a scale from 1 to 50. This situation is inappropriate—there are more than 2 groups
Ann wants to describe the demographic characteristics of a sample of 25 individuals who completed a large-scale survey. She has demographic data on the participants’ gender (two categories), educational level (four categories), marital status (three categories), and community population size (eight categories).
Gender – whether there was a difference in performance between genders; used for comparison between male and female participants
Brief Description: Lung cancer, as with all cancers, is an uncontrollable increase of cells. It happens within the lung tissue, but it could also go on to affect other nearby tissue and spread to further out than just the lungs.
Nowadays seeing one of your friends or workmate smoking is not uncommon, this is because of early dependency from young age. There are a law in most country that smoking is 18+ and some 21+. Cigarettes is really easy to get in my country, you can buy them either a pack, one stick, or more. Some of my friends smoke since they are 13 years old, I think they smoke because of the peer pressure. This is one of the most common reason why people smoke, but this is a bad thing because after they try one or more they can be addicted to the cigarettes. Many people don’t know about the addictive and destructive substance inside a cigarettes. People think that trying one cigarettes is fine but some people

According to Dr. Michael Har-Noy, they are losing the battle against cancer. He acknowledges the fact that in the past few decades, cancer has grown affecting almost one out of every two males and one out of every three females. This is an indication that compared to the previous generation the incidences of cancer is 50% greater in men and 25% greater in women. According to the National Cancer Institute, they predict that the cases of cancer are likely to double up by 2050 because of the increased aging population.
Smoking can get you broke because of the hole in your neck that you got from smoking people will not wanna work with you so you will get fired and if you try to get a job they will not hire people that smoke it will also unattract people which will also get you fired
The First article, Unclean fathers, responsible men: Smoking, stigma and fatherhood, uses a series of individual interviews conducted by trained male interviewers in a place such as the interviewees’ home or a coffee shop (Greaves 525). I think this worked well for them because when using male interviewers in a comfortable setting it makes it easier for the men to open up and explain their personal situations. The second article, ‘Every space is claimed’: smokers’ experiences of tobacco denormalization, also did an interview style study, including 25 participants that were currently smokers or recently ex-smokers, within the past two years (Bell 916).
My research question is: What is the degree of difference between the sexes’ perception of the most attractive Korean female body shape? The independent variable is native Korean men’s perception of the most attractive Korean female body shape and the dependent variable is native Korean women’s perception of the female body shape that they think
The procedure and selection process has its limitations thus weakening the validity of the survey. First, the participants were not fully randomly selected since all were from the researchers (my) network of contacts and friends, hence, risk for biases (e.g. response bias). In addition, those who received the questions in bars may have been inebriated while answering the questions. Thus parts of the process were not adequately and seriously done. On the other hand, despite risk for some unethical issues, the questions were distributed in a ‘real world’ setting- in the midst of the targets lifestyles- which at least might be more relaxed for the participants, and may giving us a closer insight to targets values- than if the participant would do the survey on the street in a hurry, or in a artificial laboratory setting.
