My favorite part of the section we read in class was when Mameha came to see mother to express her interest in becoming big sister to Chiyo. It was very clever of Mameha to come there in the fashion she did and acted the way she acted. I thought it was very funny the way Mother and Mameha haggled over the money they would receive from Chiyos work. We learned some more about the process of becoming a geisha in these chapters and how important having a big sister is for gaining recognition and clients. It seemed that the help you receive from your big sister is a deciding factor in how successful your career as a geisha will be. I look forward to seeing more of Mameha and Chiyos
The chapters that describe the characters’ pasts make the reader feel as if they are watching that character’s personality develop over their lifetime even though it is only a couple pages. The most enjoyable part was the chapter over Herman Husband that tells about his entire past and how his beliefs and opinions were influenced. I was able to have a closer connection with this character because there was a lot of information given about him. Also because from the author’s perspective he was portrayed as someone brave and understanding. Which is why when the book ended there was a sadness to it, the readers could feel a sense of emotion for the man in the cell and a stronger effect left behind by his parting words. Another enjoyable moment was when the author described the rebels and how people felt when they finally saw them after they were defeated. It created a very vivid image that explained why the people watching felt a sense of disappointment at seeing them. There was a lot of depth over the characters and how each had their part in influencing the Whiskey Rebellion however Hogeland only briefly talks about the last battle of the Rebellion that led to the rebels being captured and forced to walk for miles. More information could have been added to give the reader a better understanding as to why exactly they may have lost or what led the most to their downfall.
I would deeply recommend this book. It makes you understand why that characters in the book do what they do, what they are thinking, and what they are feeling. It makes you feel like you are having an interview with him. It also shows how smart they are. This is an amazing book,i think everyone should read this book. And we can share the story of Naoki Higashida, along
I have the first two chapter of the assignment. It is totally different the previews books I have read. There wasn’t illustration or the hilarious cartoon in Arnold’s book. In addition, it is harder than the “ Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” and Persepolis. I really liked how the author begun to introduce his grandparents. Michelle grew up her grandfather’s house. They become very close and he was role model for her. She tough her lot activities when she was young girl. This story remained my grandparents who used live next our home. I used to their everyday just to eat with, and I become very close to them.
In conclusion overall I enjoyed this book because of the determination the two sisters have to escape together and be free and to help Adam stay alive and keep him out of their thoughts so the foundation doesn't find
CHAPTER 1: Main characters have a race, Maria hurts her leg. Barbara forced to complete a forfeit, Michele does it instead. Michele completes forfeit. Most of the main characters are talked about. Papa brings them a present of a model Gondola; Acqua Traverse is revealed.
I still can't believe we finished the book. This book was a really eye opening for everyone. Reading every chapter made me reflect about each story and think more depper of the things we have to do as a multicultural educator. Having the little discussions in class makes me see more into the problems we have now days at schools and what we have to do to change those. learned
Overall, this is a very good. I enjoyed reading this book, and I actually kind of aspire to read it once more. This book is an eye-opener for the potential of post-apocalyptic books, and makes me want to read more. Not only is this book very suspenseful, and overall fun to read, but it also teaches the reader lessons that can be used within real life. I was very happy with the plot of this book, and all of its
To end this, I wanted to say I like this story because of the moral it left that is to make everyone aware that if you always keep in trying and not giving up even if there are so much obstacles in the way, you will achieve a goal and will feel yourself proud of all efforts you made. As Felicity who never give up to break the code and finally she did it. Another moral is not dropp across to fullfil a dream, we have to make it, and if we fail, we redo it until we make it well. As Aunt Miami, she thought her dream of becoming a good actress was fail until she did it and saw the fruits of her achievements.
My third point is when Amir running away for the second time. Amir had a chance to redeem himself for watching the last time his friend was violated. Instead he would do the same and betray his brother Hassan once more. Aurora had a good attitude towards the book, she finished the book on time, and answered all her questions with a good amount of detail at the book club meetings. This is what she had to say about her book " It was interesting to learn about the relationship between hassan and amir, and was also interesting to learn about a father and sons relationship."
Another part of the novel that I really enjoyed was the character development of April Hall. I love how she matured into an age appropriate character and her growth towards others. In the beginning of the novel, she moved in with her grandmother, Carolina, because her mother was on tour and could not bring her along. At first, April was very distraught and acted very independent. She would put on a performance around grown-ups and people she does not feel so comfortable with. When she meets her downstairs neighbor, Melanie Ross, and realizes they both have the same interests in Ancient Egypt, April starts to become nicer and takes interest in becoming friends. She is more herself around Melanie, and they start to play a game called The Egypt
I spoke to Juan regarding his role as an assist agent. I explained being an assist agent comes with responsibilities as agents look up to him. He needs to engage with other agents in a professional manner and stay away from gossip. As an assist agent, he should be able to help bring the team together, and in the event of a rumor, he should help stop the rumor rather than engaging.
In the third section Ms. Donna Wood looks like an African goddess and her body has an unexpected gracefulness. Even stage color was bright reddish, warm atmosphere around the dancer, like a sunrise in the morning. Stage would fill with colors. Music and performer are singing together. A sound of music tempo gets faster. She has the happiest face ever, no pain and no slavery. She jumps, she swings her leg and arms, and even she pulls her dress up and shows her leg an entire dance. Sound and lightening create the environment and good mood. She uses high level of dance than in previous two sections. She moves in between melody. I liked how she uses
this was my favorite chapter by far and a lot of things happened, things that I would have never guessed would have happened to these three boys, after being through all they have done, finally payed off I guess. But maybe it wasn't all that good. For some yes, others not so much. So what happened in this chapter was too many things. Gecko finds romance with some lady. But he didn’t want to. He just got so much feelings for her. Arjay gets famous somehow. So in other words, Arjay is loving his life. Also Terence starts reverting to his old ways. Which means he’s back to being himself, no more of this Juvie stuff or anything like that. He looked back on his life and he hated it. Now that he’s out of Juvie he has to start a new life…a new beginning.
The best part in the chapters is when they arrived in Bellingham. It was about the time when things were about to change. It was nice because it described how John felt towards making new friends and adjusting to a new life.
