Management, power and leadership all in one way or the other add up to the same thing. This is because for each of the terminologies to be effected as require, power is vital. Despite the fact that any individual can possess power and not be in leadership, the reverse is not the case; one cannot be a leader and not possess power (Sarkissian, 2010). In the same way managers and CEOs for organizations need to possess some degree of power, better still authority for them to perform their duties effectively. This power that managers and CEOs ought to have in their line of duty, along with given vital leadership qualities are aimed at ensuring that they have influence on the people that work under them. This is important as management’s main purpose is to give guidance to the organization, which is more or less impossible without influence. There are various things, factors rather, that determine the amount of influence that a manager or CEO has on his or her employees (Sarkissian, 2010). These include are what, in the business world are referred to as the basis of power. They include the following; charisma, relationships, legitimacy, rewards, expertise, and empowering. Charisma refers to the ability to influence attitudes, behaviors and perceptions of given people by virtue of one having a given personality.
