Additionally the country has a GDP per capita rating of US $20,300 (2011) and is currently ranked 62nd in the world. With a strong economy, infrastructural growth is directly correlated. With the recent 2012 budget, the government has allocated $3.5 billion towards Housing and $2.4 billion towards Works and Infrastructure, Trinidad and Tobago seems set on continuing to invest heavily in the construction sector and to further expand its built environment. 4. Management Principles and its application to the Construction and Built Environment Sector: Increase in infrastructural projects can increase demand for human resources and will also in turn require a greater demand in better management as projects get larger and more complex. The engineers within the construction field are highly skilled and competent within their discipline and will be the best qualified for supervision and assessment of jobs on the construction site. As these projects become larger, supervision will extend beyond the technical competence of the engineer’s discipline and will require them to include management principles and techniques in their handling of the human resource with regard to human
