Others may say that a teacher deserves the Jefferson Award because they are there to help and teach the students; however, Kenna Hanson deserves the Jefferson Award more because she helps the students who need help when the teacher isn’t in the room or is busy with something else. It is my pleasure to nominate Rodnesha Minor for North Carolina A & T State University’s Student Teacher of the Year. Ms. Minor exemplifies the tenets of the North Carolina Teaching Standards. I have watched Ms. Minor develop into an accomplished preservice teacher during her time at Summerfield Elementary.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is presented in a dystopian future world. Bradbury describes how dangerous the future world is going to be post 1953. Montag is a fireman that starts the fires instead of putting them out. In Montag’s society, people are not allowed to have or read any books.(add quote about books being illegal) There are a lot of similarities between the culture in Fahrenheit 451 and our culture today such as technology.

I’ve had the most compassionate and intelligent teacher in the whole Bulloch County area and if you could meet her than you would without a doubt agree with me. Mrs. Amanda Battles has been teaching multiple classes throughout the school but I foremost think of her as my Model UN and Latin teacher. There have been moments in her class where I would struggle to complete her work but she doesn’t scold me like any normal teacher would. She encourages me and pushes me to do my absolute best without any hidden, personal agenda. I’ve had her for multiple years now, ever, since my freshman year of high school and currently, I’m a junior. I can honestly say that no other teacher would be a better nomination for being the best teacher and any other

The teacher of the year award and similar awards recognize outstanding educators. When I read articles about teachers of the year, I wonder about the qualities those individuals must possess in order to garner such a highly regarded honor. What makes these professionals stand out above all other educators? One might question the students to find out why a particular teacher was honored. Those students would say:

I was very happy to see that she got the teacher I wanted. This teacher was the most popular and highest rated teacher in the school district. She won many teaching awards and was honored for her teaching skills by her peers and community. This particular teacher was also teaching at the same elementary school that I was attending when I was a child. I remember her because she was always kind to her students, not to mention very pretty and immaculately dressed every day. I never had her as a teacher for kindergarten but I remember walking past her classroom often.

I believe there are many skills and attributes that are necessary to an outstanding teacher; one’s ability to keep students engaged, the desire to see all students achieve, and knowledge of the content taught are attributes of an outstanding educator.

I would vote for Pacaya for the Vanguard Award. I believe that this is the most logical choice. I chose this through the process of elimination, and Pacaya seemed to be the appropriate nominee. Firstly, I ruled out Atacazo, Colima, and Sangay because of their high scores on the Loki Index. I understand that the Loki Index is significant as it resembles the amount of students willing to challenge social norms and do the unexpected but too much defiance might result in no order at all. I was then left with Cotopaxi, Pacaya, and Sangay and from those three I chose the one with the highest Pollyanna Score. This category in my opinion should be weighed higher because it recognizes the amount of students who want to help the less fortunate and who

Fadumo is extremely organized, has excellent teamwork skills and is able to effectively multi -task to ensure that everything is done on time. She is very initiative in continuously offering her assistance and is always willing to pitch in ideas for planning events. She is punctual, respectful and has a strong work ethics. It is without any hesitation that I would recommend Fadumo for this award.

I would like to submit a letter of recommendation on behalf of Professor Jones for the Outstanding Teacher Award. Without a shadow of a doubt, you have a deserving winner of this award found in Professor Jones. In fact, I nominated him for this last year, and on the student evaluations after each course I always included a note that he should receive some recognition for his commitment to teaching. Based on the selection criteria found on UD’s website as to what this award encompasses, I can guarantee there is no better professor who exemplifies these qualities than Professor Jones. Please allow me to justify why he must win.

Outstanding teachers know their stuff! They know what they are teaching and how to teach it so that students will understand and be able to use their knowledge in multiple contexts.
